I disagree about corporal punishment to an extent. I've seen many people turn out to be a-holes because their parents never kept them in line. I have one friend who constantly backtalks to his mother, in front of his friends, and in all my years I know if I ever did that my father would've whooped my butt so red I wouldn't be able to walk for a week.
Would I use it on my kids? I don't know. A spanking is different than using an object- back in the day, parents would make you kneel down on rice. It may not seem so, but it becomes more painful than any spanking. And this is only minor to some of the things my aunt, uncle, and father told me that my grandparents did to them. I believe this goes to include the "Every child is a winner" mindset they have set up in recent years. I just saw George Carlins final stand up special, and he made a good point.
He said that these kids grow up thinking their winners, on the honor roll because EVERYBODY is on the honor roll, and when they get to the read world, can't hold down a job, their parents down know why- because they've never learned failure. There are no losers, no last place or last picked, only "Last winners."
Wow I went off topic. On point though, changing your profile picture to support a cause isn't stupid. If it's the only way you can support said cause, then thats respectable. If you could donate money, and don't simply thinking changing a picture is enough- thats where this "slacktivism" comes into point. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
