Honestly, this doesn't surprise me. Nothing about this government does anymore.

Funny enough, it's my mom that's been branded the crazy conspiracy theorist because she's been saying this shit's been going on for years. I love how now it's coming out that she wasn't the crazy one, she's been right for I don't know how long and is now going "YEAH I TOLD YOU SO, AND NOW BECAUSE OF HOW THE GOVERNMENT IS? Remember, the country is ran by old narcissists who don't care because they are rich and have everything gift-wrapped to them. Then there are the bratty youngins who listen to them.

Why should this be surprising? Considering what was going on with the NSA and Snowden, you should see that the government will always overstep it's boundaries for the sake of their interests. We've let ourselves get to point where we fear our government, and don't fight for our rights the way we should. As well all know, when the people fear the government, there will always be tyranny.

Like cattle to the slaughter, the people let laws like the Patriot Act come into effect, simply based on their love of their country after the attacks 12 years ago. Then slowly but surely our freedoms were/are still being stripped away. The law I ever saw fought against so hard was SOPA/PIPA... because if they came into effect, we would've lost the last bastion of true freedom for every person on the planet: The internet.

I can honestly say I have never seen our country as disillusioned with itself as it is now. Don't be surprised if another whistle-blower comes forward with something even more damning than we've seen thus far. I'm really waiting to see the "thermo-nuclear dervice" that WikiLeaks was talking about, the one so damning it was being used as blackmail so the US government couldn't touch Julian Assange.

The PATRIOT Act was forced through when none of the people voting on it had time to read a 1000+ page bill and were expected to vote on it the day after it had been drafted. Obviously the only course of action they SHOULD have taken that they didn't was "You aren't giving us enough time to read it" and from what I understand, those who said No to it were the people who wanted to actually READ the bill before voting on it.

So, as polybob and I have been watching X-Files, he's found connections in TV shows that have taken from X-Files in some way. There's also been some weird connections to government things that are happening now. One such instance of this? Is a season 9 episode titled "Trust No 1" in which... the NSA is spying on the public at large. No, I'm not making that up. Even if you have no clue what's going on, the episode is pretty spot on as to what's happening now.

The spinoff, The Lone Gunmen, pretty much predicted the 9/11 attacks 6 months before it happened. Up to the fact that they were going to crash the plane into the World Trade Centers.

Sure, it was entirely coincidence, but both scenarios are pretty eerie, that's for sure.
