The Tale of Lisa An Original Soul Blazer Fanfic Written by DJ Carter Diary Presented to Lisa Christine Leo by her Father Robert Johnathan Leo Monday July 1... I finally have decided to write in this book my father gave me. I'm not sure what I should say, so I will do a daily account. I turned up some specimens for father today. He's supposed to be back by the end of the week. Sometimes I wonder what he's doing in that laboratory of his. He's invented so many things that have helped so many people. He always brings back something new that he's worked on, whether its as small as a new type of time telling machine, or a new chair, or even as simple as a writing utensil. His wonders will never cease to amaze me. ~Lisa Monday July 8... I received a message from father today. He's receiving some pressure from King Maggridd to make some kind of machine, and he says he won't be home for a while. I miss him dearly, but I don't have anyway to get to his laboratory, It being halfway across the world. ~Lisa Monday July 15... I received a letter from father again. He says he won't be home for a long time. I was distressed, so I went and sat down.... Monday July 23... In my last entry, something very strange happened as I continued writing. Some beast, almost completely made out of metal, grabbed me, and took me to the underground. He somehow held me above a small portal, and pushed me in. I remember nothing else except cold blackness. Suddenly almost as quickly as I had been put there, I appeared back in my small house. Even though I had only been trapped for a few seconds, I felt so tired. I went to my bed and collapsed in it. In my slumber, a strange dream came to me. I was standing in the place near where I had hidden my most prized possession, my father's Paintbrush. He appeared in front of me, and suddenly I realized that another man was sitting there. He was wearing tan and red armor. His face was slightly tanned, and housed the deepest blue eyes I had ever gazed at. His hair was dark, ruffled slightly from the breeze. He held a short dirk in his grip. He was very attractive I thought, But I couldn't be worried about him in the least. I turned to my father and he told me that I should give his brush to the man in my dream. Then, as I pleaded with father not to leave me, I left the realm of slumber. As I opened my eyes, that same man, the attractive one from my dream. I screamed out of fright, not recognizing him at first. He ran out, and then I realized my mistake. I asked him to come back in, and he walked back in slowly. I explained to him that my name was Lisa, and my father was the Great Dr. Leo. He told me that he was a traveler, sent by The Master and his name was James. He explained what he was doing, and what had happened to me. I told him where my father's brush was located, and I wished him well on his mission. As he left, I worried about my father. As I did, I fell slowly into a uneasy slumber for the rest of the afternoon. ~Lisa Wednesday September 14... Many things have occurred in recent times, to keep me from my diary. James continued on, and I heard tales of how he saved Greenwood, the Underwater Palace, and the Mountain King and his people. He stopped back often, to check on me, and to pick up new supplies. I asked him of his next destination, and he told me that there was a Laboratory to the east that he was going to rescue. My heart jumped into my throat, and I realized that my worst fears had come true. Father had been hurt, or even worse, killed. I asked him as he picked up his bag to watch for my father. He nodded, and respecting me, he left as the tears fell out of my eyes. Soon after, the Mayor's Wife, Jennifer, came to console me, and to watch over me as we waited for word of my father. As I found out later, I would see him soon. Days passed on slowly. I spent most of my time crying. When I just wanted to be alone, away from Jennifer, I would spend time with Turbo, a lone goat in the community goat pen. This went on, until one day which may very well haunt me for the rest of my life. The slowly diminishing sun was lowering into the horizon as nightfall came. I sat next to Turbo, feeding him some of the goat feed. Suddenly, a battalion of soldiers came to me. Without saying a word, one hit my head, and I was knocked unconscious. I'm not sure how long I was like this, but I woke up to the prodding of a Guard telling me to get up. I got shakily to my feet, and quickly dusted myself off. I looked around, realizing that I was in one of the dungeons of Maggridd Castle. The guard motioned me out of the cell, and out into the hallway. I did as he told, and we walked through many hallways. We came into a room that was different from the rest of the many I had seen. It was lit by some sunlight, and through its portals, you could see the clouds of the sky. I kept walking, and for the first time, I saw it. A huge ship, with propellers on every part, with a huge balloon below it, and a deck above it. Then I knew. It was the Airship that my father had told me so much about. But, I didn't lose much time looking it over as I saw my father. Behind him was James, and facing them off was Queen Maggridd, and many soldiers guarding her. MY father kept silent as the Queen screamed threats at him. I watched, terrified, as the guards finally brought me forward. My father looked at me, and in his eyes, I saw love, compassion, and sorrow. He slid something to James, who sat behind him, then he yelled at the Queen. Her guards responded by throwing their armaments, which were spears, at him. He managed to dodge all of them, except one. It hit him and he collapsed, breathing shallow. He looked up at James, and his lips moved but I couldn't hear what he said. Then he stood up. He was smiling, and in his hand, I saw a small black sphere. I found out later that it was something called a bomb, which had incredible explosive power. He lit a fuse on it, and ran towards the Queen and her soldiers, who had parted only seconds before. It exploded, and took the soldiers, the Queen, and himself with it. When the dust cleared, he was left, laying on the ground. The fact that he had always worn so many layers of clothing somehow protected him from being completed annihilated in the blast. I ran to his side, tears once again flowing over my face. I told him he would be ok, and he smiled weakly at me. James walked up to us, the same look of sorrow on his face was the same as I had seen on my fathers face only minutes before. Father sat up slightly, and told me that he loved me, and told James to watch over me. James nodded, and my father, my only living relative, the Great Inventor of Grass Valley, left this plain of existence. I kept sobbing as a new, intense wave of sorrow passed through me. It felt as if it would never leave me. James consoled me, and then when I had calmed down, he got on the airship, and took off. I returned to Grass Valley, and things started to calm down. Days passed, I'm not sure how many, and finally, early one morning, when it was just chilly enough to wonder if it was worth stepping on the cold floor, or staying in bed, and there was a knock on my door. I yelled that whoever was there, could come in. James stepped through my door, and I knew he'd finished what he had come to do. Outside my window, I saw a eagle on the ledges just above the Mayor's house for the first time since this whole ordeal had started. Everything seemed brighter. James told me that I should soon be hearing news of the death of Deathtoll being proclaimed by King Maggridd. As he started to say something about leaving, I told him I would turn around, because it would hurt me too much to see him leave for the last time. I knew I would cry no matter what, deep inside. He nodded, and as I turned away, the door clicked open, then shut. Hours passed, and I still couldn't bring myself to turn back around. I finally did though. Festivities we're held throughout the land, Everyone proclaiming the new town to be built, and the new freedom proclaimed by the once greedy King Maggridd. I, however stood away from the crowd. I looked in the sky, and as the sun set, a harp player that I had once met started playing a medley he had dedicated to me, because I helped him heal after injuries he got rock climbing. I listened to it, and it seemed to fit my mood perfectly. It was reflective, yet sad all at once. There was no words, and it seemed to captivate the small crowd gathered to listen to it. As I continued gazing towards the sky, stars just becoming apparent, I saw a comet, rise from the surface of the mountain, into the sky, and I knew that James had finally left. As my tears dried, I knew that my life would never be the same again. ~Lisa The young blonde haired woman stared at that which she had written. With only five entries, she had filled a diary. She knew that was strange, but she knew that even if there was more space, there wouldn't be anything more to write. She laid the book down in the grass next to her. She had been sitting here much recently, feeding Turbo (a stray goat which she had befriended,) and contemplating her life. She turned her gaze to the mountain, and suddenly a figure appeared in front of her. He looked confusedly at her, not recognizing her. She jumped up. "JAMES!!" She screamed at him, running towards him and hugging him. She felt no return in the gesture. She looked up and backed away slightly. "Do I.. know you?" He asked her. She looked him over, and finally asked. "Don't you remember?" He stared blankly at her. She smiled and took his arm, and led him in tow. "I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Lisa..." ~FIN ~2002 - DJ Carter (All Characters in this story belong to Enix. I don't own any of them.) Runway Productions
