Operation: Zero is the name of the 5-part game series we, the AtW Studios are developing at the moment. All 5 official titles of the series are space adventures that allow maximum freedom, ultimate complexity and an simple, easy-to-learn-and-use and highly customizeable control interface.

The whole series is based on a script for a novell I once planned to release. It may be released together with the game for a better understanding to those willing to learn more about the game.

The Story:

Operation: Zero mainly plays in our univserse, just a few years in the future while it's story begins before the very beginning of the universe itself.

Framework Story:

The Framework Story is about the fate of the universe. As everything that once was build even the universe is meant to one day be destroyed and free room for the next things to come.

Quote:
Operation: Zero - Band of Fate

Chapter One - Chronicles of an Empire
(shortened version)

Once upon a time in the universe that existed before the birth of ours there was a race that managed to achieve ultimate power and wisdom. They used their superior technology to conquer those that rose against them until they were the only ones left throughout the whole universe. This deadly times were followed by a peaceful time. As the time passed by knowledge was lost and the ancient race that now called itself Arg Ta Rash Ti (Guardians of Faith) began to overestimate themselves and began to see themselves as the ultimate form of life, as gods as they're meant to be: powerful and glory. But soon after a terrible disease began to spread throughout the empire of the Arg Ta Rash Ti , but without their ancient knowledge they had no chance to stop it. So they declared those galaxies allready lost to the disease to quaratine zones. Not knowing of the terrible mistake they have just done they continued to live on. Again what once was knowlege turned to legends and as thousands of years passed all knowledge of the quarantine zone referred to in the old manuscripts as the isolated ground was lost. Until one day the Arg Ta Rash Ti started an expedition to the isolated grounds hoping that this will end up the space and ressource shortage they had experienced lately.

But the disease was not as deadly as the Guardians of Faith have thought and so almost half of the infected people managed to survive. They were kept alive by the will to struck those down that left them to die just to save themselves.

As the Expedition encountered the isolated ones they tried to establish the first contact. But with their answer, the destruction of the whole expedition konvoi, the fate of the universe began to unfold. A war of a form began the uniserse never suffered since it's very birth. 4000 years passed and 12500 Arg Tash Rash Ti were killed until they final battle took place. Both gathered their fleets of almost infinite size and as they began the deadly dance the space began to cripple. When they finally noticed what they have done it was far to late allready to stop what their agony had started and soon the universe collapsed in a giant flash of ultimate brightness. Only a handful of both managed to survive hidden in another dimension of space.

On this day our universe was born. New Empires began to rise and the universe began to bloom, while deeply hidden in the outer regions of space the two ancients prepared for their next contact and the battles to follow.

That's what a revolution is all about opening new perspectives XD. And just coz all of us like SNES and 2D games doesn't mean we hate everything else, right? Wink So to all thinking: oh gosh not another shooter-like 3d game. IT IS NOT A SHOOTER, at least not mainly. You can shoot enemy ships to bits if you want to, but you can also stab those freaky monsters in Terranigma or other RPGs down too, so the only real difference is the perspective ^^. O:Z unlike most other games of the same or similar genres isn't all about fighting. For example if you play as a spy and actually try to bomb around a bit you'll soon notice that spy's aren't meant to use informations, they're just the ones meant to gather em ^^. Most player shemes have no time to put up fights anyway, since they've got to do much more important things ^^.

Yeah thining's actually one of my hobbies. It's one of those hobbies slowly dying out XD. You're a thinker too and it shows Wink. Wish there were more people with the talent to game design like you and me ... the games eco wouldn't be stuck at it is today if there were more really good game designers. Moneys not the only problem the big industry has when it comes to innovation, coz they mostly just have no idea what new things they could do. But they're still the ones to blame for what's going on right now, or better for what's not going on since they fucked it up the hard way.

Oh yes. Right now it's all about graphics and big hardware, and they forgot that what really matters are the games and games cannot be good without good game design.

Not just right now. That started a few years ago allready. To stand against that we called ourselves AtW Studios, which stands for: Against the Wave Studios. We're the ones that fight against the wave of stagnation by releasing real games and not just beautiful looking crap Wink.
