The toxicology report is out; he had ten times the normal amount of testosterone in his body, a synthetic brand. He was on pain killers hydrocodone and anti-depressant Xanax. His wife had a BAC level of .184, but it may have been mistaken due to the decomposition of the body. She also had Xanax in her system, as did the boy. Benoit apparently tried to sedate them before he killed them both.
Read the report for more information. BTW- the coroner stated that this wasn't a case of 'roid rage... _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. The Benoit mystery explained?
Though not 100% confirmed, they seem pretty confident that steroids and/or other drugs weren't the problem.
The problem was brain damage.
In a nutshell, they're saying that from all the concussions Benoit had taken over the years, the dead and damaged matter in his brain gave him more the brain of an 85 year old Alzheimer's patient. Not something that should be in a 40 year old man.
The idea is somewhat supported by a study on a few retired pro football players, also with a long history of head injuries, who went in to depression and caused harm to themselves and others.
If this is true, I could come to dislike Benoit less. It's a far cry from actively overdosing on drugs and going postal. If his brain was really that fried, maybe he actually couldn't control himself.
Still, I can't look at him through rose-coloured glasses like I used to. _________________
