Glossary :

Fonym : It is TerraEarth's equivalent to magic using an arcane language to chant in certain tunes invoking feelings of different colours to achieve different effects. It is synonymous to Synaesthesis.

Synaestech : Refers to technology that makes use written or engraved fonym chants.

Synaesthesist : This term refers to a person who is proficient in using fonym chants, or a person who has, or is in the proccess of, performing a fonym chant. Synonyms include Fonyst or -mancer as a suffix.

Chromophobia/Chromophilia : This term refers to a person's affinity or weakness to the effects of different colours of synaesthesis. There are 10 colours of synaesthesis; Red, Vermillion, Brown, Yellow, Green, Azure, Blue, Purple, Violet and White. They refer to the powers of fire, fusion, earth, lightning, wind, ice, water, shadow, fission and light respectively. They are also paired up in opposition. Red with azure. Vermillion with violet. Brown with green. Yellow with blue. White with purple.

Ihvros : Refers to a kind of power only found in deities or people with an extraordinarily amount of creative or destructive tendencies. They are more commonly referred to as 'the gift'. They come in three known flavours, Genesis and Armageddon, being the first 2 that oppose each other and Prism, a power that encompasses mastery of all fonym colours.

Charge : Expressed as percent and going up to 300%, it refers to the amount of pressure that person is under in combat. It is built up as the person takes damage, deals damage, blocks, evades or parries in combat.

Awakening Drive : Refers to powers and skills that a person can only use when their awakening charge reaches a certain amount. An awakening drive consumes awakening charge depending on the order if the awakening drive. So, as an example, a 1st * Awakening would consume 100% charge.

Drive Extension : These are special powers and skills that are tied to a specific awakening drive and can be used right after said awakening drive is executed with no charge consumed.

Status Effects :

Unless stated otherwise, all status effects wear off over time or when knocked out.


Very Detrimental

Plagued : A really nasty condition that inflicts damage every few seconds, deteriorates attributes at random and makes sure that at least one random secondary detrimental status effect is in effect. Unlike other status effects, this one does not wear off over time. Automatically slips into a coma once health reaches zero in this condition. Only wears off after slipping into a coma.

Coma : Disabled until revived, all attributes, including vitality and stamina, are greatly reduced and will only be recovered some time after being revived. Will not revive automatically.

Zombified : All martial acts, fonym chants and awakening drives are disabled. All attributes, including vitality and stamina, are greatly reduced for as long as this condition is present. Loses all control of actions and loses the ability to tell ally from foe. Eventually slips into a coma.

Doomed : Slips into a coma after an indeterminate amount of time.


Detrimental

Poisoned : Health slowly drops over time, constitution is reduced.

Bleeding Out : Health drops over time, healing becomes very ineffective, strength and agility is greatly reduced.

Weak : Stamina recovery rate and strength is greatly reduced, +1 StC penalty for each martial act performed while in this state.

Silenced : Fonym chant time is greatly increased, +1 StC penalty for each fonym chant attempted while in this state.

Burned : Strength and constitution is greatly reduced, takes 50% more damage from fire attacks.

Frozen : Completely immobilized until the next hit connects unless it is an ice-based attack. The next hit will deal 8x more damage.

Petrified : Completely immobilized. Can be softened with blue fonym spells.

Berserk : Completely loses control of their actions, but retains the ability to tell ally from enemy.

Enthralled : Turned against their allies until Knocked Out or snapped out of it.

Blinded : Hit, block, parry and evade rate is halved. No critical hits are possible while in this state.

Delusional : Sees things, often ending up attacking thin air or the wrong target.

Stunned : Agility is greatly reduced, every hit will cause dizziness.

Dizzy : Immobilized for several seconds.

K.O. : Disabled until revived. Will revive automatically over time if health is above zero while in this condition.


Neutral

Drunk : More succeptible to knockdown and flinching with hit rate reduced, but gains protection against poison, stun and plague with improved parry and evade rate.

High : Damage taken is doubled, but gains protection from burn, freeze, berserk, enthrall and delusion. Also prevents flinching and knockdown.

Float : Gains invulnerability to brown attacks, but takes double damage from green attacks. Cancels the Grounded status effect.

Grounded : Gains invulnerability to green attacks, but takes double damage from brown attacks. Cancels the Float status effect.

Damned : White chromophilia is reduced by 100% while purple chromophilia is increased by 100%.

Sanctified : Purple chromophilia is reduced by 100% while white chromophilia is increased by 100%.


Beneficial

Blissed : Constantly regenerates health.

Protected : Protected against very detrimental status effects, with some resistance against detrimental status effects.

Tranced : All detrimental status effects are nullified, all attributes are increased.

Shielded : Halves damage from all martial acts and physical attacks.

Aegis : Halves damage taken from all fonym chants.

Invisible/Shaded : Invisible to the enemy with the evade rate doubled.

Character Traits : Wise, benevolent, mysterious, analytical, level-headed, passive.

Bio : Originating from a divine pantheon called the Web Masters, Boxxleman decided one day to make a name for himself by creating a world, and thus, TerraEarth was born. While nobody knew if its creation ever gave him recognition within the pantheon, one thing is for certain : TerraEarth flourished. Over the aeons, Boxxleman watched with great interest as life in TerraEarth increased in volume and variety, its form changing into more complex forms countless times.

I was not until humans and other simillar sentinent races emerged that he decided to reveal himself. It was also then when his work got a lot more interesting. Countless times, these sentinent beings have been struggling against each other, even their own kin, for dominance, and in the proccess almost ended up destroying themselves. Each time a crisis emerges, Boxxleman has to work with the people to save them from their own annhilation.

However, not all of TerraEarth's history is riddled with strife. Throughout the ages, these beings have discovered great technology and mystical power. They used these discoveries to build great monolithic constructs which survive the deaths of the civilizations they came from and the sands of time. Only Boxxleman knows of all the secrets of the world he himself created, but it does not stop countless beings from seeking them out.

Recently though, he had grown worried of a particular individual who lusted great power and the prospect of attaining divinity status. This individual, by the name of Ark4Elle, not only managed to attain power on his own, he has managed to unearth a few choice artifacts that could potentially, and knowing Ark4Elle's character, most likely, spell doom for all life on TerraEarth. With direct confrontation out of the question, he went on a world tour seeking out heroes to rise up against any and all future potential threats to his realm said individual may pose. Notable recruits included eFlare, who Boxxleman personally promoted to a demigod-like status (Admin), Deathpit, Blade, Raini, Freedan, Fixy, SBiF and the Treasure Hunting Trio.

Bio : Having won the favour of Boxxleman and being the dedicated champion to his cause. He has been granted the position as administrator, Boxxleman's right-hand man, not too long after he ressurected the human race in TerraEarth as a soul blazer. Bio : Freedan, the Dark Knight (born Freedan Illagaea) was born in to a well-off family in South Cape. Being born in to a wealthy and influential family, he was raised with the best education available, and every need met. Though he wanted for nothing, as he grew older, he began to notice the gap that existed between the aristocratic wealthy and the less-fortunate commoners. Freedan was taught as a child that his family's wealth and influence equated to superiority, but that was never his wish. He grew tired of the aristocrats' indulgence while the commoners laboured, and at the age of 20, began to use his inherited wealth to aid the working class of South Cape.

Being of the most influential family in town, Freedan had connections to the throne. As such, when he decided to join the South Cape knights, he was quickly accepted. He quickly proved himself to be a prodigy with the sword, excelling at his training and attaining a rank of "General" in a short time. As a skilled warrior, Freedan was entitled to additional training that very few receive; training in the Dark arts. Again, Freedan demonstrated a natural aptitude for his training.

As a general, Freedan was called upon by his majesty to lead various missions. For a while, the missions were quite mundane; retrieving stolen property, or helping another kingdom fend off an attack. However, 6 months after his promotion to General, Freedan was given an unusual mission: to acquire a rare crystal from a neighbouring kingdom. The unusual aspect was that this kingdom depended on these crystals for its money... but no mention of payment was brought up.

Freedan spoke to his king about payment, but was reassured that "they'll have it soon". The king stressed the importance of retrieving the crystal, promising Freedan that it was in the best interests of South Cape. Freedan had his doubts, but he had his orders. As a general of the Royal Knights, he had learned to respect authority and carry out orders, and against his better judgment, travelled to the neighbouring kingdom.

A month later, Freedan was summoned by the king again to retrieve a second crystal from the same kingdom. Again, payment was promised "soon".

3 months passed... 3 crystals retrieved... and there was no payment.

Suspecting that the king had simply stolen the crystals to supplement his own wealth, Freedan prepared to confront his king. Upon arriving in the chamber, Freedan was quickly interrupted with news of an important mission: the kingdom of Watermia, an ally of South Cape, was facing rebellion from some of its own people. Freedan was to lead a team of knights to quell the rebellion by force and restore order. To "make an example", as his king ordered. A couple of kilometers from Watermia, Freedan encountered the rebel base.

To his surprise, the 'rebels' were, in fact, unarmed civilians who had grown tired of the Watermia royalty's rule, and were attempting to begin a life free of royal decrees. Refusing to resort to violence against civilians, Freedan ordered his knights to return home, rather disgusted that his king would order such a thing against a harmless 'enemy'.

Upon returning to South Cape, Freedan confronted his king, accusing him of theft and attempting vicarious murder. Such an act would have landed him in prison, were it not for his status: arresting someone of the House of Illgaia would not sit well with the local populace, especially given his work in helping the commoners. Before he could be dismissed as a knight, Freedan renounced his connections to the king.

Leaving South Cape was not a pleasant decision, but Freedan could no longer live under a ruler committed to greed and violence. Freedan spent the next 3 years as a nomadic knight, seeking out further training in the Dark arts from various swordmasters to improve his skills. He learned various Dark skills, and combined with his natural prowess with the sword, even developed his own art: the Dark Friar. As he travelled, he used his newfound skills to aid those in need... from the town under attack by bandits to the beggar in need of a few coins. His altruism earned him a glowing reputation, and his nomadic lifestyle earned him the title "the wandering swordsman".

While resting in a bustling city, Freedan overheard his name in conversation. According to the two gossiping merchants, the king of South Cape had been overthrown; the populace had discovered his unethical leadership after he had increased taxes on the commoners, and had staged a coup. Even the aristocrats, somewhat believing in their own superiority, saw little reason to tax the poor further, and distanced themselves from their king and his unpopular decisions (though this was more to protect their own image rather than out of compassion). A new king, popular with rich and poor alike, had been installed, and Freedan was being summoned back to the kingdom.

Reluctantly, Freedan returned to his hometown. Upon meeting with the king, Freedan was informed that news of his deeds had spread back to South Cape. His dedication and selflessness were needed to make the Royal Knights and South Cape something the people could be proud of. Freedan accepted the offer, and was not only made leader of the Royal Knights again, but a noble in the Royal Court -a title he still carries with him (though he prefers not to use formal titles, and keeps his status and connections a secret from most).

With Freedan at the helm again, the Royal Knights became a powerful army, working to promote peace at home and abroad, aiding anyone in need... from the town under attack by bandits to the beggar in need of a few coins. Freedan's mantra is "no need too small".

Eventually, Freedan's efforts caught the eye of Boxxleman, creator and reigning king of TerraEarth. Boxxleman arranged a meeting with Freedan in which an agreement was met ; Freedan will be the first in line, among a few others, to investigate any strange occurences that might be a threat to the entire world of TerraEarth. In exchange for his services, he is granted to access as much of Boxxleman's resources as he needed for as long as the agreement lasts, which is ideally a lifetime.

So, charged with the task of protecting not only South Cape, nor the surrounding cities, but the rest of TerraEarth as well, he is given the experience of a lifetime, connecting with the other TE residents whom Boxxleman employed and the other people he met on his journeys. He soon had enough stories to tell the future generations for a lifetime. Unfortunately, he's spent so much time training in solitiude and with very little casual social contact, that he sometimes tends to go overboard in his friendly jabs at his peers without being able to tell when they get annoyed. He's also proud enough to conveniently forget that he has his limits to his abilies and often endangers the entire party in the proccess. This earned him the ire of a few of his peers, especially Axe, even if they know he is a good person and respects him deeply.

Eventually, he finds himself developing a special weak spot for one of his peers, Raini, whose feelings are mostly returned. This gives him the strength to go beyond his limits and stil be able to kick evil in the balls.

Bio : Jason Tandro came from a faraway planet called Rysun. He was born in the town of Ceire Autea, and that is about as much as what he lets known about about his background and how he was raised.

He suffered from a traumatic experience at a very young age that causes his dark half to manifest itself as a separate entity through a proccess called the Soul Schism. Soon after, he left home to search his world for the whereabouts of his dark half.

He eventually trained in the martial art of Taishiken, which emphasized in the perfect balance of the spirits of destruction, creation, regeneration, inspiration and transfiguration, for the purpose of forging a weapon in which he would be able to reunite with his dark half. As the art of Taishiken cannot be mastered with only half a soul, the proccess imposed a very heavy and excruciatingly painful toll on his body. The result was a lance he would call "Fusion".

At age 19, Jason joined a special group of enforcers called Spectre and was assigned to a unit. Unfortunately, the unit was destroyed soon after by a man named Kyle. A year later, after a long and hard vigillante manhunt, he found Kyle and confronted him. Jason learned then about the whereabouts of his dark half, who has since named himself Remus. He also learned that Remus had created a lance of his own, named Fission, with the intent of destroying Jason.

However, the law soon caught up to Jason and he was captured by another Specter unit headed by a man named James Marshall. After an interrogation and threat assessment session from Keather Danton, captain of the unit, Jason was enlisted into the unit. Eventually, Jason managed to locate Remus' exact location and confront him with the help of Keather. It was during this confrontation when he got knocked out and mysteriously transported to TerraEarth.

Jason wakes up in the new world and was left to gather his bearings and hopefully find a way back home. In the proccess, he has made a name for himself in Euro as a treasure hunter. At the Dao Bar, he had a brief and tense encounter with Remus. A treasure/map that was allegedly hidden in the Great Pyramid was mentioned, and then the two parted ways after a heated exchange. Their exchange was overheard by Valerie and Axe Kazama, a pair of aspiring treasure hunters who agreed to take him under their wing for their next treasure hunting mission, that just so happened to involve the same map that was discussed.

The three were unsucessful in finding the map in the Great Pyramid, but they agreed to continue treasure hunting together until they did. They went on to find more and more treasure, eventually earning the title as respected and well-known treasure hunters throughout TerraEarth. It is unsure if/when Jason will leave TerraEarth and return to Rysun to face his dark half.

Bio : Valerie was born Trapiga Islands, the land of the anthropomorphics and orphaned at a very young age. She was sent to live with a mentor in South Cape and thus has no genuine memory of her origins and her people or even where Trapiga Islands were located.

Growing up has been quite a difficult experience for Valerie, being different to the people she grew up with made her stand out from all the other kids, both in a good and bad way. Tuition is not much of a different story as well, while she possess a sharp mind and demonstrated mental prowess far beyond her age, she simply could not have brought herself to do well in school and dropped out after graduating the first tier (equivalent of high school) of academia.

She, however quickly found employment as a scout, surveying the lands from the air for any dangers, suspicious characters and treasures. She had no problem doing this for a living, however, she found herself wanting more and more to go on an adventure of her own. So, after overhearing a couple of adventurers talking about a treasure that can reveal all the secret places of the world, she uses up the money she saved up to buy herself some basic gear, some supplies and headed off to nearby towns to gather information. Not before bidding farewell to her mentor, of course.

After a few days of gathering information and determining that the Great Pyramid is the first place to look for, she bumped into a fellow aspiring adventurer with the same goal. They joined forces and agreed to search the Great Pyramid together. Two days later, they found Jason at Dao mumbling about the same treasure, heading for the Great Pyramid himself. They exchanged their information and from then on, Jason pretty much took over the whole expedition.

They never did find the map.

However, they agreed to keep searching together until they found the map, and so, a fellowship is formed. In between attempts to find the fabled map, they took on more mundane paid quests for money to keep them fed, clothed, equipped and safely rested. Valerie turned out to be a great asset to the group as she has an eye for finding treasures, doors, switches and traps better than anyone else.

Valerie is not as careful as she should be, however. A pretty grave accident happened along the way that took her right arm & wing as well as her left eye. Thankfully, there was a friendly acquaintance from the Southern Continent specializing in combining magic and technology who was able to give Valerie a new lease on life with synaestech prosthetics.

They then went on to take on bigger and bigger quests, even helping to avert a couple of crisis that threatened to make TerraEarth a really, really, bad place. They are very widely known as the "Treasure-Hunting Trio" and is trusted by Boxxleman, the leader of TerraEarth, to be among the first to investigate any strange occurences.

Bio : Born to the Kazama family, a bloodline of martial artists who has an intense and deep-seated bitter rivalry against the Mishima family. Axe has been taught all his life that he must train to become the best martial artist ever and vindicate his family's vow to defeat and eliminate the Mishima family from existence.

Axe however, has always had his own views of life and how to spend it. He is of the opinion that for whatever reason the feud is still going on, it is no longer relevant and that it is pathetic. While he did train in martial arts and managed to pass the most brutal trials set by his elders, he has grown apathetic to the whole feud, and thus the whole purpose they trained him for ; He would much rather live out on his own, without any worries or resonsibilities, prosper and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

So when his father made him promise, on his deathbed, that he would find the place of eternal life for the sake of his family's upper hand against the Mishima family. He agreed that he would find it, but for his own completely different reasons ; He figured he would find the location and sell it for a handful of gems.

After his father died, Axe set off on his own to go look for the land of eternal life, knowing that it could very well be just a myth. He kept himself fed by entering brawling tournaments and winning. Sure enough, after a couple years of searching, he was not able to find even a single lead as to where this place could be. However, he did hear rumours of the fountain of youth whose location is marked in a secret map that revealed all the other secret locations of TerraEarth. So he searched the Seaside Palace, the gates of Kynareth and even the Black Mountains to the far north, but without much luck. Eventually, he met Valerie at a bar, who had been looking for the same map. They agreed to join forces to look for the map, in a new lead Valerie had just acquired then ; the Great Pyramid.

They are joined by Jason Tandro two days later at Dao, who pretty much took over the expedition. Unfortunately, they weren't so lucky, but they agreed to keep searching for the map together.

As a treasure hunter, Axe Kazama is the less skilled of the three, having been trained all his life to brute force through problems before thinking it through. However, he is an invaluable asset to the team as he had managed to use his strength to bust the trio out of perilous situations far too numerous to count.

They eventually take on bigger and more audacious expeditions, gaining a name for themselves, amassing enough stories of their misadventures to fill and entire library and earning the recognition and trust of Boxxleman, creator and reigning king of TerraEarth, to be the first among a hand-picked few to investigate any possibly world-threatening oddities.
