God hates me. I am thoroughly convinced of this. If indeed Shigeru Miyamoto has god-like powers attuned to game-making, then he also apparently borrowed God's sense of humor. Misery does equal hilarity after all.

At any rate, those of you who are familiar with me know that I rather enjoy Zelda. In fact, I posted a storyline theory some time ago in another thread. However, that was more my personal attempt at making a coherent story out of the jumbled mess, and less attempting at figuring out what Miyamoto's true intent was. Well, while I was going through some old games the other day, it finally hit me as to just what order the games go in. This is, almost undoubtedly, the order that is on Miyamoto's supposed "Timeline". (this is based mostly on interviews with Miyamoto)

Timeline A
The Minish Cap
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Twilight Princess
Four Swords
Four Swords Adventures
A Link to the Past
Link's Awakening
The Legend of Zelda
The Adventure of Link
Oracle of Seasons
Oracle of Ages

Timeline B
The Minish Cap
Ocarina of Time
The Wind Waker
Phantom Hourglass

The problem with this order is that there are an enormous number of contradictions. For instance:

Why is the Triforce in one piece in A Link to the Past, but in The Legend of Zelda and The Adventure of Link it is in three? And for that matter, how did it get back in the Sacred Realm in one piece after Twilight Princess? Also, wasn't there a great war before A Link to the Past? Four Swords Adventures directly contradicts the events in the opening story sequence of A Link to the Past! Also, the story of The Adventure of Link tells of a great king who had the Triforce. It's logical to think that it was Gustaf I from The Minish Cap, but if that's so, then how is it supposedly in one piece in Ocarina of Time? Was it not his decision to hide the Triforce of Courage in the Great Palace?

If nothing else, they need to remake the first three Zelda games. Their stories are no longer relevent, and do nothing but contradict the mess of story that's left after all these years.

Anyway, I'm done ranting. Thoughts? Comments?

I saw that back when it debuted.

There are so many flaws with it that I don't see how they were able to take themselves seriously.

as always, you're right when it comes to zelda tay. the only thing I could have said would be LttP with its war before has to be the last in the timeline, because no zelda contents a war...

oracle of ages could well have. the whole tower thing... but then, time travel does create complications. like oot effectively spawning the alternate storyline

I agree with Gametrailers that, if there is a split timeline, The Oracle games take place at the end of each... so far. Frankly nothing in the world of Hyrule is "official" but I think we can all agree that Minish Cap and Ocarina of Time are first.
