If you like sprite-based JRPG games, Mana Khemia (1 and 2), Ar tonelico (1 and 2, just beware of some glitches. There's a glitch fix patch for an iso-based Ar tonelico 2 out on the internets though), Wild Arms, Shadow Hearts, Atelier Iris, Rogue Galaxy, Grandia 2, Fatal Frame (any of those Very Happy).

Platforming Games: Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Klonoa 2 are must haves. I also reccomend any Ratchet and Clank and the first Jak and Daxter (Jak II is an okay game, but its VERY different).

RPGs: Wild Arms 3 is a great western themed RPG with a nice combination of platform-based puzzle solving and RPG action. Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha Versus The Soulless Army, has a really long name and is, to sum up, Pokemon with Demons. Solid action RPG with a very involved storyline, if somewhat linear.

And I reccomend all of the original .hack// games (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarantine). But they are best when coupled with the OVA that is packaged with the disks (.hack//Liminality).

Sports Games: NCAA '08 is a great college football sim and the only "sports" sports game that I like. Also if you like skateboarding games Tony Hawks Underground and Tony Hawks Underground 2 are pretty good.

Shooters: Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy 7 is a good mix of RPG and shooter. Well worth it. Time Splitters: Future Perfect is a fine example of a shooter as well.

Incidentally, Blade asked a similar question.

You might see if any of those suggestions help.

Dirge can kind of suck though. Just be warned. The controls, even though they were tweaked to be not so ARGH KEYSMASH inducing for the English version, can SUCK SO MUCH. I love the game, but damn some things could have been changed.

Also, Devil Summoner is fun, and I totally forgot to recommend Persona 3, Digital Devil Saga (CANNIBALISM! WOO!), and any Tales of game you can find.
