The Final Fantasy OST Discussion

Okay this is a two-part question.

1. What FF had the best OST in your opinion?
2. What are your favorite individual tracks from any FF?


For me, I think Uematsu's work has always shone, but I think in particular it was at its peak in the FF6 and FF7 era and it's really hard to choose between the two, but I'd probably go with FF6.

Some of my personal favorite tracks:

1. Ending Theme (FF6)- The best Uematsu piece EVER.
2. Liberi Fatali (FF8)- Who doesn't love that latin choir?
3. Gogo's Theme (FF6)- Whimsical and hilarious. Many fond memories.
4. Strago's Theme (FF6)- Like the hebrew feel, and a perfect "geezer" theme.
5. Zanarkand Ruins (FFX-2)- So random, and not Uematsu, but I like it!
6. Cait Sith's Theme (FF7)- I like upbeat music, if you can't tell.
7. The Blitzers (FFX)- Wish this played during all blitzball games.
8. The Oath (FF8)- Incredible piece from FF8 which even my DAD liked, and he hates video game music.
9. Grand Finale (FF6)- But for a silly reason. During my old high school film days, I used this as the bgm for my blooper reels.
10. Clash on Big Bridge (FF5- FF12)- I prefer the twelve version though.
11. We Are Thieves (FF9)- Just a generally good theme.
12. Final Battle (FF4)- Very epic.

I mean theres a LOT more here, but that's an idea.

i cant say which is my favourite from all of them, but as an overall soundtrack, FF4 was pretty solid. that being said, i didnt like the final boss theme. best track would probably still be The Extreme from FF8, with little contest.

Gustaberg - Final Fantasy 11 (the only reason I run around Gustaberg: the music that plays while I run through. XD)
Heavens Tower - Final Fantasy 11 (can't stand most of the music in Windurst, but Heavens Tower is pretty chill-inducing)
Ru'Lude Gardens - Final Fantasy 11 (my friends and I would just sit in the Gardens and talk the music is pretty calming)
Castle Zvahl - Final Fantasy 11 (the ONE dungeon I will dare to go through by myself JUST to hear the music. I LOVE this dungeon music.)

My favorite OST was, actually, FFVII. Granted, I'm not a big FF fan, but the music in FFVII I do love.

My favorite track though? Tough call. One of the following:

Boss Battle (FFIV/Mario RPG)
Decisive Battle (FFVI)
Main Theme (FFVII)
J-E-N-O-V-A (FFVII)
