What actors did such a good job in the roles that they played that they changed your perception of the role?
For me:
Heath Ledger as the Joker-
I know everybody says this. It has nothing to do with the fact that he died, it's plain and simple. He was the better Joker by far.
Alan Rickman as Snape-
When I read the books I saw Snape as a whiny little bitch. But Alan Rickman gave Snape the cool, mysterious aspect.
Viggo Mortinson as Aragorn-
It's not so much that he changed my idea of the role so much as he perfected the role. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

CCH Pounder as Detective Claudette Wyms on The Shield. She went to audition for a role, and they loved her performance so much, they rewrote an entire lead male role in the script to suit her, leaving in some of the more hard-hitting dialogue for such a capable actress.
Tobin Bell as Jigsaw: While my interest in the series has wained after the second part, remember; he was merely a voice coming out of a microphone, and he had only two lines of on-screen dialogue. Next thing you know, he becomes the star of the films.
Brad Dourif as Chucky: Brad Dourif is a brilliant actor. Any other actor playing that role might have worked, but Dourif gave such a dark, brilliant and funny performance as that crazy killer doll that when they annouced a plan to remake the franchise, they said they locked him in to return to the role.
Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger: Think about it, it's really a no brainer. The original, he was the villian. In the sequel, he climbed out of the gay kid. In the rest, he became a clown. Robert Englund played the creepy, evil killer with a wit in the first, second and seventh films, and retained the witty, dark humored anti-hero in 3, 4, 5 and 8. In part 6, the weakest of the sequels in terms of story, he was referred to as a "homicidal Bart Simpson." No matter how the role changed, the fans stayed with it, and Robert Englund himself is just a brilliant actor. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. It's also a completely different way of living when you know that...a different species of person." - Lana Del Rey
