Well it depends on where the punches land, if you hit certain parts of the body in a certain way, you can really incapacitate them, or put them at a risk of actually dying. All it takes is one well-aimed strike.

All the more reason I wouldn't throw a punch. You can get somebody in a restraining hold which will do no damage at all.

well, always aim for the voicebox, and think how you punch BEHIND your opponent, and not on him it's one of the most effective ways to get away with murder!

Actually if you punch somebody in the windpipe and then knee them in the chest in rapid succession you will completely cut off their air flow and kill them pretty quickly.

Actually, there is one node on the inside of the arm, between the biceps and triceps where if struck, could cause a cardiac arrest.

how does one hit the windpipe? besides, cutting of the airflow doesn't kill "quickly"
