Spoiler :

This is not anything new. All rule34 is, is a mirror of the current zeitgeist, the unrealistic twig with cantaloupes figure is an image propagated by cosmopolitan magazines. Therefore, the ones responsible for breeding an unrealistic image of the ideal women precedes the internet, and the advent of photoshop only served to worsen this.

True, but the sad reality of life is even in the 21st Century we are still a predominantly Patriarchal society and in most countries in the world women are still seen as 2nd class. In the countries that don't we still hold women to an unfortunate double-standard.

Now you are correct in saying that men do suffer from this to a certain degree, but not in the same degree as women.

and as soon as women stop complaining about that, they are emancipated in this part. because the only difference between the objectification of men and women is that men just do absolutely not care if they're objectified or not.

I actually agree with that statement to a certain degree.

@Valerie: Your statement is pretty much the summation of the point. I mean there has always been an unrealistic vision of the ideal man AND woman, but I just wanted to open a discussion on the effects of things that are now not only unrealistic, but downright impossible.

There is only so much ignoring one can do as a male being objectified by women, and really it is a double standard that men suffer under because it is always a negative thing for men to objectify women, but if a woman does it to a man, she is considered "sexually liberated" and regardless of what you may hear, men can be, and has been raped by women. You do not want to know how much harder it is for men to convict their sexual assailant in court.

It's absolutely true there is a double-standard. But 9 times out of 10 there is less risk of a woman becoming sexually violent than a man, even if that same woman would be considered a "predator".

I realize this sounds sexist, but most men are built stronger and more threatening than most women. Granted there are some women who could beat the hell out of any guy, but that's not the norm.

It's not rape unless there is some sort of pentration done to the victim- I had a friend I knew, a girl, who told me she was raped by another girl. Whether she was telling the truth or not, she told me there was nothing the cops could do because there was no penetration, and that's where rape is considered.

It used to be in other contries fat men were considered attractive- I'm talking hundreds, maybe a thousand years ago- because it showed you were well taken care of, and had money. But it all ends up boiling down to the same thing; money and beauty are the keys to the world. And, while we can continue to blame the magazines and Hollywood for objectifying women (And men! )- we as people choose to follow this guideline. There are leaders and followers, and you can choose what you want beauty to be to you. It's all in your heads... respectively.

you have to go a step farther Very Happy men do not "ignore" this, because ignoring something involves an actually conscious action, and I said men "do not care". I don't think there's something like objectification at all, because so to say men would objectify just everything. there's no difference between an advertise with tits or a cool car (or soccer or baseball... you know what I mean).

oh, and men don't suffer under the double standard, they do not care about it Very Happy. if they would, they wouldn't be "men", but, I don't know, modern men or sth like metro or gay.

example: "hey, why do you watch porn just for entertainment? and why are so many naked girls on posters in your room? don't you feel sorry for those poor women?"
wrong answer: "I thought about that, but common, there will always be porn and stuff. some women would be homeless, at least they can earn money this way."
right answer to a male: "ugh... are you a faggot?"
right answer to female: "ugh... feel free leave the room if you want."

I would consider rape to be any sexual contact that has been made without consent. It has little to do with penetration, and has everything to do with power and humiliation. It is essentially, taking away the victim's power to say no.

In law terms, rape is the moment pentration happens without consent. Otherwise, it's molestation. I agree with you Val, but that's the word of the law.

in german law, it's also rape if the victim has to penetrate the rapist. and not only vagina and penis, also all other holes and things that can penetrate.
