Yeah, so Freedan has been a hard-worker on that game design program I offer. He's up to Lesson 10, where-in he will be designing a micro-game using the skills he has learned! The game is supposed to be 1-2 hours in length, but it may be more based on Freedan's particular plans.
When he completes the game he will be promoted from Trainee Programmer to Programmer and I've got a couple other rewards in store for him.
The guy is straight-up gifted, he's got such a comedic edge to his work and he's got an aesthetic for design. This is not the end of his training, but it's the first big step! After this I'll be going a little more into detail about events and then from there showing him some tricks of the trade to enhance his skills even further.
So let's hear it for him! _________________ Support me on Patreon!

You don't know the half of it! What he's done in the training environment had me blown away. He pulled off a comedic Sprite animation set to the Benny Hill theme that I can only dream of! _________________ Support me on Patreon!

Hey, I've got my own self-promotion thread.
Everything I've learned to do was from Jason's teaching methods. Instead of just explaining the technical stuff, he has you start with building your own basic town, and use that as your learning environment. As you learn to do more, your environment becomes more complex, and people or events you include in it get factored in to future lessons. You learn by doing, which is very effective; I had no idea how to use this stuff at all, but the lessons are easy to follow.
If anyone wants to learn how to make old-school sprite-based RPGs, I'd highly recommend asking Jason about the course. Even if you know nothing about game design, he'll make sure you pick it up.
Anyway, since this is just a very short game as part of review training, I figure I'll probably make something that doesn't take itself very seriously. _________________

Holy shit, it lives!
After being delayed due to obligations, then due to Christmas, then obligations again, then procrastination after being away from it for so long, I finally got back in to it, put in most of the day to work on it, and it looks like it's pretty much finished.
Before I post it here on the forum, I'm having my brother take it for a test run, probably tomorrow. He'll check the enemy balancing and stuff, just to make sure you don't level up way too fast too early, or not enough later on, etc. Also, to make sure you don't get unfairly annihilated by a boss or something.
If all goes well, I'll be posting it here soon. If not, I'll go back and readjust some stuff. _________________

So I just had the opportunity to play this piece of brilliance. It's hilarious, it's fun and it's freaking amazing that after only ten lessons he's already producing something of this quality. Yeah there are a few rough edges, but the game is the total package and he presents it very well.
Coming shortly you will all get the chance to play this game and see Freedan's first Soul Schism Game! _________________ Support me on Patreon!
