This is a rant about catchpa. For you see, it pisses me off.
Why do we have to interpret those retarded letters that barely resemble letters at all? My vision is exceptional (scored 10/10 on the military test ), but I still have trouble reading that crap.
And what's with the random words? Sometimes there are regular words, but you also sometimes get something like "sanddbe". What IS THIS SHIT???

captcha has two words of which you only have to type one if there's one you can't read, you can type anything for it. _________________

I of course know that. The question is: Why use retarded letters and words? _________________ Hey. I'm Fazermint. And I'm Juicy!

It's not like I'm talking in riddles here...

Catchpa is meant to stop the bots from spam the websites with unwanted messages.
The shatty bots came to our forums and threw down the pointless posts on us until the guest posts were disable. Only way to get in is have admins accept an application.
The bots are still roaming in the Internet. Watch for them. _________________

I know what catchpa is for. I r not stooped.
For zeh third time:
Why not just use regular letters and words? Bots can't recognize objects on an image, so it can't recognize letters, no matter how standard they are.
If someone's gonna answer a question that I totally didn't ask one more time, I'll have to do an epic facepalm. _________________ Hey. I'm Fazermint. And I'm Juicy!

a relevant answer:
using techniques similar to face recognition, bots can be written to recognise letters and if required, match them to a dictionary. it isnt particularly hard to write (i mean, i could probably write something like that given sufficient motivation and an image hack tool).
that could be why the letters are often warped, and the words are strange. _________________

Oh kay. Didn't know bots could do that, my Information Systems teacher said image recognition technology was pretty bad. But I guess letter recognition is more of a basic thing, then? 0_x

those are super annoying, I agree. And they aren't always capable at preventing spam. _________________ Whenever there's light, there are shadows.

well, it is pretty bad. thats why captcha still exists. if they were to use simple letters, and not warp them, there would be little point. (ever tried to use a program to read text from an image? my friend has and it took him about half a hour to read a massive rasterised pdf with no idea on how to do it) _________________
