I did too. Then again, I still haven't played TN, so I can't say that for sure until I do

I'm only halfway into Terranigma, but it just doesn't really do it for me. It's aight, but not one of the best games for snes imo.

it gets /really/ good in chapter 3.

and maybe its that by being on these forums, youve built up insane expectations. so if it doesnt match them, you wont think its that amazing. same thing with me and first impression of OoT

Maybe...!
But I don't agree, each chapter has it's own distinc feeling to it. Chapter 1 might be the most RPG-clicheeish chapter, but I enjoyed it very much.

And then? BAAM! New setting in chapter 2. And BAAM! Complete overhaul in chapter 3. And BAAM! "What the fuck did just happen??" in chapter 4.

@EP,

You're probably right. I kinda thought the third game would be the better one (although I enjoyed SB more than IoG).

@Blade,

Now that I think about it, Chapter 1 was decent.

I don't know all three of the games have strong points but all three have definite flaws too.

Soul Blazer

Strengths: Simple controls, fast-paced combat.
Weakness: At times monotonous and the difficulty can be overwhelming at times.

Illusion of Gaia

Strengths: Great story and music, creative dungeons, addictive combat and (in my opinion) the best graphics out of all three.
Weakness: Not being able to backtrack and it can take a long time to get into (especially when you consider you don't see your first bit of combat until about 30-45 minutes into the game).

Terranigma

Strengths: Highly refined action-RPG combat, great music and graphics, and overall excellent story.
Weakness: Can be confusing at times and also can be very challenging.

Recently purchasing the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play has made playing these games on the go finally a reality for me and it's been amazing replaying through Illusion of Gaia and realizing I'm playing this on a cell phone. I'll soon be playing Terranigma again and this time (damn it) I'm going to beat it.

for the most part i agree with the strengths and weaknesses there, Jason, but i'd make these changes (only to weaknesses):

Soulblazer:

*Weakness: at times monotonous, and the "go find all the items scattered everywhere, with no hints, to proceed" quest was just stupid.

Illusion of Gaia:

*Weakness: no backtracking, and despite the great potential for a story, it is told in such an abstract (and imo, horrible) way that it seems more of a cop-out than anything else.

but then again, im pretty sure ive made my opinions on the IoG storyline pretty clear by now Very Happy
