Could be for any reason. Maybe you don't like the company, maybe you think the series has gotten stale, maybe you just think it looks like a stupid idea for a game.

For me, I was hoping to see Duke Nukem Forever flop. I was pretty happy when it came out to mediocre-at-best reviews. The reason? Because after spending so much time in development limbo, and seeing all the hype for it, I knew it would never be able to deliver. And the frequent "always bet on Duke" quotes from people wetting themselves in anticipation got annoying very quickly.

Plus, I never found the character entertaining. I know he's "action hero cranked up to 11", pretty much in to parody territory, but while he was unique and somewhat interesting when he first appeared, these days he seems obnoxious and embarrassing; the kind of character a 12 year old with internet access would come up with.

Also, Crysis. Each time a Crysis game comes out, I want it to do badly, because Crytek - or rather, the CEO of Crytek - sounds like a pretentious asshole every time he mentions the series.

Talking about Crysis 3 "maxing out this generation":

"Crysis 3 is absolutely maxing out the consoles," Yerli said. "There is absolutely not even 1 percent left. No game will ever look technically better than Crysis 3 on these consoles, flat out. Most games are not even anywhere near Crysis 2 technically. I'm not talking about art style--art is subjective--but the pure fact of what we have been cramming in with Crysis 2 on Xbox [360] and PlayStation [3], I've yet to see a game do that still today."

Yerli further claimed that the Halo or Gears of War franchises do not even come close to what Crytek has been able to achieve with Crysis 3.

"Any day I will take a battle against Gears and Halo, whatever, the amount of data we put in and the detail level is far superior," Yerli said. "With Crysis 3, we're pushing that to another level, but the PC is just two levels beyond
."

Pretentiousness in bold. Translation: looks are all that matters.

Other than looking pretty, what makes it special? What sets it apart from any other shooter, other than the fact that I need an $1,800 computer to run it?

So, yeah... maybe hoping for failure makes me a horrible person, but I'm ok with that. Cool Guy

Any other horrible people out there?

that crysis thing is interesting. seems stupid to push hardware to the limits just for the sake of pushing it - on commercial software, nonetheless. for testing purposes, sure... but if someone has an older model of the console, or any minor OS issues, they could potentially fry it. just seems retarded.

that being said, i really want the new generation of fps games (the ones that come out every year and are carbon copies of the previous games) to start flopping. but, since it seems that the target audience flocks to the new features like crows to a random shiny piece of trash... and the semi-casual gamers follow so they have someone to play against... it isn't happening any time soon. it's the same problem i have with sports games, and nintendo.

i did mention nintendo since it would be hypocritical to not do so when talking about rehashed games, but ... the nintendo games in question focus on singleplayer (zelda, metroid, pokemon), with the multiplayer either being nonexistent or basically the same. the pokemon metagame changes with each release, but for all intents and purposes, it might as well be the same.

The aforementioned games do seem to be strictly multiplayer, with minimal improvements (having never cared for fps, i wouldn't be able to tell any optimisations to the engine), so it seems like people are just forking out $80 a year for two or three new levels on which to spout mother-based abuse at each other on.

The new Devil May Cry game. So. Much. Like, I thought it could be interesting. Something we haven't seen. But the more I see of it, the more I get disappointed. The more I'm just going "NO. THIS IS NOT A DEVIL MAY CRY GAME. THIS IS A PIECE OF SHIT."

I'll probably buy it. It may or may not be the first game I ever trade in. Agreeing with the first part of this video though, Ninja THeory took the sexualization to a new level in this one (WARNING: NSFW/) when original DMC games were very much innuendo and silly, and Dante loves him some hot wimminz.

So yeah. DmC: Devil May Cry is just. No. I want it to fail.

Did... did I just watch granny porn? And I just couldn't get enough close up of that guy's chin. Don't see a lot of pornos with chin action.

I can't recall any game I hated enough that I wanted to see it fail, but I've seen a couple of games that I knew were pretty much going to fail instantly and then inexplicably didn't.

I guess that kind of meets your criteria and for me it has to be... Spirit Tracks.

I love Zelda, we know this, I love every game out there, but seriously? You ride of Thomas the Tank Engine to battle evil? Too bad he's dead, I would have loved to have them get George Carlin to do the voice of the conductor.
