I posted this on my FB not too long ago and figured I'd get it here before it goes off. A Kickstarter is raising funds right now to make a completed version of Cheetahmen II available to anyone who contributes 60 USD to the cause... it's already gotten past it's minimum goal. The more money raised, the more stuff they will be able to provide to donators. This 60 price tag is a contributor only price, so when this thing actually goes up for sale it will be alot more.
Also available at reward level 4 or higher is Cheetahmen: The Creation, the original prototype that would become Cheetahmen on Action 52. For an extra 99 bucks it can be yours... if not, Cheetahmen II is still only 60... plus you get a few other cool things to go along with it depending on your reward level.
I funded it last night, ended up being the 900th backer. It goes off in 8 days, so if you're interested, take a look! There's even a few videoes on there if you want nothing more than a laugh, featuring Pat the NES Punk and AVGN.
Oh, and one final note... the game functions on any NES Console; NTSC, PAL A and PAL B. You will need a converter to play on a Famicom, though. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. Just as a reminder, the Kickstart ends in 14 or so hours, so if you wanted a copy at the contributor price... now is the time. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. I am surprised that this didn't get laughed out. I mean, to raise this much to finish an incomplete good game, I get. But an incomplete bad game? Why would you do that? _________________

This is more in line with collectors. Personally I collect anything and everything Nintendo... and Cheetahmen 2 is up there with maybe 8 NES games at this time that are worth over 1000 bucks or more. The other seven are Stadium Events, the 4 "porn" games, and the gold/grey Nintendo World Championships 1990. I'd love to own an original Cheetahmen 2, but I can't afford to spend 1,500 bucks on a copy. However, 60 bucks is a different story.
I also have to explain, this guy owns the rights to Cheetahmen as well as the company that produced Cheetahmen 2 and Action 52. You could say it's not even a reproduction- it's an unlicensed NES release. Buy that's entirely up to the individual to decide. Also, considering what this thing will be worth in a few years... why not buy it? I've seen 25 repro carts go off for as much as 160... so even if you don't want to buy one to own, you can buy one to resell. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. Yeah, but in this case, it's not guaranteed to happen. For all we know, it could be another landfill that ET fr the Atari for the 2600 could call their brother. _________________

Still haven't gotten mine, but oddly enough, they've been selling on ebay for 300 or more (original cost: 60). One even sold at 1000 bucks.
I have two of them coming, but it might be worth it in my case to let one go. Anyone else take part in this project? _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
