Well, it's the 20th anniversary of my fav game, and over here in the states there isn't much celebration. Oh well, wishing everyone fond memories and great times as I run through the final chapter of the game for the fifth time. |

Missed it by a day, but still... best game. Lots of memories from it, and it led me here, so... there is that! _________________

Technically is 19 years. 1996 for us international players.
I have a vivid memory from 1996 of visiting the capital city of Australia, Camberra during a school trip during 1997 (a good 1.5 days bus ride). I was 10 at the time, my parents had given me money to spend on the trip.
I had about $150, a lot of money for the time. The trip most consisted of sight seeing, visiting Questacon (if you ever go to Camberra, visit it), going to the war memorial, going to the snow fields (which where terrible and more icey then anything) and so forth. But one day, we went shopping, it was late in the trip and I had saved my money. I went to the Toys'R'us and there it was. Not one, but a wall. An entire wall, at least 30 copies of Terranigma. I had played it to completion, having borrowed one of my friends copies, but I had to have it. The remainder of my trip money went into purchasing it, and was totally worth it.
The thought of that wall gives me shivers, knowing how much a brand new copy of Terranigma would sell for today. _________________

I can't math. 19 yes.
I remember the game was in our VHS rent store. Rented it too many times. Then one day I came across it in a store for a whopping 160 Gld. (100 euro now I suppose)
Can't remember any other time where I begged so hard in a store to my parents. Eventually made a deal sacrificing a year of allowance.
BEST

All of my jealousy to those who bought it when it came out.
However, I do have a PAL copy and a means to play it in the US. Still butthurt we never got it to buy here though! _________________

I patiently await the day someone trades an English copy in at my store. Just so I can put it on the shelf and the take it away again as I walk it to the counter to by it. _________________

I only found out these past days of the anniversary thing. The Japanese response on twitter is incredible. |

You know, it's funny, because I bought a PAL Terranigma around 2010, and finally got a machine that can play it (Retron 5) in late 2014, yet here I am, "tay120n2016" and still have not played it.
I actually picked up Robotrek recently, so I'm thinking about binging some Quintet this summer. _________________

PLAY IIIIIT I mean, if anything, I may LP it, but it's much more satisfying to see all the twists and turns playing it yourself. _________________
