Haha...actually I don't do tax returns. The Personal Tax staff deal with the individual clients, and I'm not qualified to do Corporation Tax returns either. xD

As for the abbreviations...

VAT is Value Added Tax, on "luxury" items - I think you call it GST, Goods and Services Tax?

AAT is the name of the Association of Accounting Technicians. Like accountants, but a slightly lower-tier qualification. Juniors, basically.

ACCA is the name of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. One of the major international bodies for fully-qualified chartered accountants.

Becoming a fully chartered accountant from nothing can take 4 or 5 years (depending on how often you sit exams, and assuming first-time passes in all of them), basically as long as a Master's degree. It's also about as academically difficult as a Master's, and probably costs about the same too (something like £30,000). But for jobs in the field, being a chartered accountant is much MUCH more useful than having, say, an MSc in Accounting would be.

So, yeah. I have a lot of expensive study ahead of me still. xD
