Or perhaps using a single period for the topic is meant to show that this topic is the final word on itself, and its own closing. This topic IS this topic, PERIOD, or such... But also, a LINE of periods indicates a lack of ending... drifting away to incompletion, like this sentence.... That things ar eleft unsaid. But with only ONE period, with no text before or after to give persepctive on that period, the title for this topic, . , becomes representative of this topic, and perhaps ALL topics' duel nature... They come to conclusion, and seek to find one, yet the final word is never spoken... I think that's what Freedan was trying to say...
