there's no 13 ways for "the", I think but genderspecific articles and such...
look at THE <noun>:
der, die, das
look, A <noun>:
ein, eine
look at THIS <noun>:
diese, dieser, dieses(, jenes)
and so on... so we have mostly at least 3 times more articles, because we have 3 different gender for words.
