I was wondering, what's the best SNES emulator?
Right now I'm using Snes9X. It works ok, but it's not as flexible as my NES emulator (Jnes, it rocks!), so I was wondering if there might be a better one... _________________

I haven't used SNES9x in a while, but back when I used it I liked it for its interface. Then I wanted to play Star Ocean, found out that SNES9x couldn't do it and tried ZSNES. From that point on I just stuck to it, because it has a 100% compatibility and because its netplay is better, but I still don't like its ugly purple design.
I think SNES9x is able to play back games like Star Ocean these days, right...? And how are things going with its netplay feature? |

I prefer ZSNES; I just find it a breeze to use.
Though to be fair, I didn't give SNES9x much time. Tried it for a while, liked ZSNES better, and never went back. _________________

I use both emulators, actually. I'm partial to them both, however SNES9x still has its flaws (it crashes from time to time if you alt+tab out of it to do something else for a moment). That's not to say that ZSNES doesn't either. I always had problems finding where you configure your keyboard/joypad or whatever in ZSNES while SNES9x is relatively easy to find.
So, honestly, they're both good. _________________

I use ZSNES and it's great.
Though emulating sux as it's like cheating on my SNES. |

You know, you don't have to cheat when using an emulator. :p |

No, not cheating WITH the emulator, but cheating ON his real SNES.
If I still had a SNES, I wouldn't need an emulator |

Hah, yes, that makes a lot more sense. My bad. But don't worry, as long as you don't use a PS2 joystick for SNES emulation like I do. |

Oh god, I use a PS2 joystick for my emulators! No! I'm sorry my beloved SNES, but you're boxed up with all my other old systems until I finish college! I promise we will be together soon! _________________

Snes9x is great. Especially if you configure your computer to use an XBOX360 controller. Then it's a friggin' breeze. |

I've worked with emulation since its birth back in 1999 and I must say, ZSNES is by far one of the best. You'll be pitted between a toss up between Snes9x and ZSNES really as there seems to be a 50/50 on the approval rates. But for compatibility sake, ZSNES is the pic. It also features a Rewind ability that allows you to rewind the entire game by a set amount of frames per 1.5 seconds. (You can specify how much to set it to.) It also has a fadt forward feature. (As with many other emulators of course.) You can choose how fast the frame rate is set at or how fast each level of frame skip you want to go. Its cheat system is also great and if you feel interested, there is the net play feature as mentioned. I haven't tested it ever in my time of emulating, so I have no clue about it. _________________ "That which invokes my rage and great, furious anger shall turn to a raging nuclear sea of fire!" |

I prefer the simple user interface and emulation fidelity that ZSNES offers. _________________

I use SNEX9x. It's the best one i've used, and i've tried a couple of others. |
