What have you been playing recently?

I've been bouncing between the old and the new lately. After seeing all the chatter about Chrono Cross and Lunar in this thread I dusted off my SNES and started another playthrough of Terranigma (that ending still gives me goosebumps). I'm also running Secret of Mana co‑op over netplay with a buddy – turns out spamming Sylphid is still the easiest way to break the game.

On the more recent front I've been slowly crawling through Baldur's Gate 3 when time permits. I'm still in Act I because I keep getting distracted by every barrel and side quest, but it's a blast so far. I also picked up a copy of FFXII Zodiac Age on sale and appreciate being able to speed things up; Gambits make my inner programmer very happy.

Anyone else revisiting the Quintet classics or playing something that scratches that retro itch? Always looking for more suggestions to add to my already ridiculous backlog.

Ha, I’m starting to worry about myself too! Once I dusted off one Quintet game the rest jumped off the shelf and begged for attention. Maybe we need a support group for retro addicts – first step is admitting we still know all the notes to Terranigma’s ending theme.

It was a fun experiment while it lasted lol.

On topic, Ghost of Yotei has me in a chokehold. Hubs got it for me for our anniversary, and I've been playing it a lot. In my Dragon Age replay, hit Inquisition finally, though this is the long DA game. I'll be here for... uh, a lot of hours.

Star Trek Online, Minecraft Java for Hypixel server, Minecraft Bedrock with addons, Virtual Fisher (Discord bot), Fortnite, and Forza Horizon 5.

I retired from Team Fortress 2 as it is too fast for me to make good ratio on kills/deaths. I left RuneScape after grinding too much and pushed by MTXs.

I finished Sea of Stars. quite a solid rpg with fantastic 2D-graphics and sprites. not as good as Chained Echoes, but still absolutely worth the money.

started Drova now, which is really good for fans of the gothic (the german rpg) type of game.

I would be playing Age of Imprisonment if I had a switch 2, but alas, I only have a switch OLED. So I'll just play the older age of calamity instead

gothic 1 remake OBVIOUSLY! they did a great job with the remake, and I'm glad they found success so we're propably getting a remake of gothic 2 sometime

Picked up Old School Runescape again. Might have been a mistake...

Otherwise slowly working my way through FF7: Rebirth, hoping to finish before the last one comes out. Or I'll do what I did with Rebirth, buy it on release and only get to it 1-2 years later.

Was a major addiction last year. So good.

Just finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Was probably the best game I have ever played.

I played FFVII: Rebirth on Easy because I have reached a point in my life where I no longer care about challenge in video games (except games that are specifically designed to be challenging, like Dark Souls). It ate 108 hours of my life and each one was totally worth it. But yeah, as Flamez says, it's a major commitment. I got time for about one good hundred hour romp a year (it was Tears of the Kingdom before that).

I have downloaded Clair Obscur and I will get to it sometime this autumn the way things are looking out.

As for me? I've been replaying FFXV, but this time I shelled out for the Royal Edition. It's got most of the DLC pre-installed. No more "Comrades" because that service was shut down and the Choco-Mog Festival is no more, albeit I started the game with the two outfits so that's something.

I've also been doing the content in chronological order so Kingsglaive, Brotherhood, Chapters 1-7, Ep:Glad, Chap 8-9, Ep Ignis, Chap 10-12, Ep Prompto. I'm on Chapter 13 now. I've really enjoyed my time with it and I am reminded simultaneously of why I enjoyed this game so much at launch and also why it feels like such a let down that it was never finished. The Royal Edition extras are... kinda pointless? The boat is really dumb unless you like fishing - which I do, but not this much. Not even a bonus explorable island or nothing.
