well it does depend on how you tell him about it. and, the dummy reservation is a good idea. do they teach you to use placeholder stuff like that? or was it your own idea?

That was my own inspiration, I'm proud to say. Just got his card number and address for security, because it's now 1:30 and no Hotels.com reservation has shown up and I can't shake the feeling he might have been selling me some BS...

what happens if it doesnt come through? you wouldnt be missing any details, so i guess its just inconsequential?

If there was a reservation that didn't come through, it's Hotels.com fault, not ours, but the guy might still end up getting doublecharged.

If it's a fraud, I've got his card and will just charge that for the night.

For the most part, it's inconsequential.
