Meh. I'm with SBiF on this one. I like the idea of being able to see my loved ones who have died again, you know? Especially with the fucked up way they all like to leave the mortal coil.
I'm too tired to actually debate right now. But meh. _________________

My thoughts on this is that instead of revelling on the idea of an afterlife of retribution for sins, I feel that it's better to work for a better crime-solving and justice system.
Utopia may be impossible here on Earth, but it can damn well be close to it if everyone works towards it. |
Science also has law that "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed. It can only transfer." We exist, as a "Spirtual being." We all know we have some form of electricity flowing through our body, which causes movement, thought, and just about everything else. We also have a soul (If you believe in such) and I believe the human soul is a form of energy within us, and that energy must go somewhere, right?
While our bodies become another form of energy, we are eaten by maggots and underground creatures, and become part of the dirt, so we in essence become part of the Earth itself. That's one form of immortality, if you like to think of it as such...
But I can't believe we merely become a lifeless body that deteriorates and becomes "Dust In The Wind," like the famous song may suggest, but I don't think that's all we are. Our conscious mind, our own spiritual embodiment, must go somewhere. If I have faith, for nothing else, than it's the belief the goodness in my heart, my faith in God, that I won't end up being "nothing." _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. For my end, I can't grasp the concept of suddenly my conciousness just ceasing to exist. _________________ Current Avatar commissioned work by Seiken Arts.

I can, and I actually find more comfort in that idea. _________________ It's high time I revised this signature. |

Why not? Shit happens and if theres no afterlife who cares ... hopefully all of us rocked our brains out and had fun when we were still somewhat alive ^^ ... Death waits behind every corner you know? So you can never know when and how the end will come. _________________ AtW Studios

Exactly! If there's no afterlife, we wouldn't be around to care, so it's a win/win situation. _________________

If it makes you feel any better, David Bohm, one of the Manhattan Project guys, was asked about the afterlife, and he said that if there's one thing he's sure of in all the science he's learned, it's that "nothing ever disappears without a trace." |
