As far as X goes, it's my 2nd favorite FF, beaten only by 6. It has, bar none, the best story in the entire series. I'm just not the biggest fan of the combat system. That and both Tidus and Jecht kick ass in Dissidia, which I also have xD. |
since i missed this on my last read through (dont know how), ill post now:
imo, the best story in the game could go to ff8 or ff9. then again, i am quite biased towards 8... and everyone was telling me how bad 9 was, yet i thought it was amazing.
i found the combat system in ffx to be reasonably good - the use of the priority bar beats the atb system in most other games. the gameplay itself was a little slow, but then again the ps2 has a damn lot of texture to load. i played it on my computer, and the mi'ihen highroad lagged me up like mad - and my computer is quite powerful.
another flaw in ffx that i would have to say - the storytelling is a bit too casual at the start. when auron goes ahead and tells you something big (i wont spoil what), he's like "oh btw... [spoiler]". that and yuna sounds like she is missing a chunk of her brain. _________________

8 had a great story, and 9 was a nice homage to the classics. But overall the stories behind 6 and 10 to me were far superior to any other story in the series. not to take away from the other games, they're still great. The 1st person perspective of 10 really stood out to me. |

Who the hell was telling you FF9 was a bad game? Only their official strat guide sucked for the game, the game itself was lovely.

i hate the puzzle chamber things in ffx with the lights on the walls. those annoyed me lol. FFvii is the best imo followed closely by ffxii |

I honestly never found anything truly spectacular about VII. Yes it's a great RPG and yes it has one of the best stories in Video Games, but I rank it pretty low compared to other FFs and other standout RPGs such as the Chrono games and Persona series. In fact if I were to make a top 10 of what I think are the best RPGs I'm almost certain it wouldn't make it. The only compelling character to me was Aerith, and well... yeah. |

wow. i love the characters in it, n for a ps1 game i found it had awesome gameplay, the only thing i didnt like was how easy it was 2 get rich making powerful hp materia. i like 9 alot too, and i like the gameplay in 12 more but the story isnt as cool. chrono ftw >< |

It might have alot to do with me playing alot of RPGs (both Japanese and Western). looking back the characters feel generic to me, although Crisis Core did alot for me with Aerith, Cloud, and Sephiroth. Plus Zack himself was a compelling character (and I'm not ashamed to say I cried at the end of the game) |

Crisis Core is the prequel to 7 on the PSP. Final Fantasy in general has a habit of getting me like that. I can't really think of one past IV that hasn't made me cry. Maybe I get too into my games xD. |

I still cry when the ending theme reaches its climax even more than in LotR while king theodon holds his battle speech in part 3 _________________

I cry at a lot of my games. I cried at the end of Klonoa 1 (the ending theme and the whole "D8 I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY BEST FRIEND!" thing sort of makes me at any given time), I cried at the end of FFX, and holy god Ar tonelico II made me cry at least 4 times.
Terranigma ALWAYS makes me tear up at the end during the credit roll. ALWAYS. No exceptions. _________________
