Don't assume the best.... our leaders are no geniuses either. When election time rolls around, we get to choose one of the following:

1) Liberals, who will tax the ever-loving hell out of everyone.
2) Conservatives, who will not put money in to ANYTHING.
3) The NDP, who will spend us in to the mother of all debts.

Of course, we don't have to literally fear for our lives.... we know our own government won't arrest us for no reason and follow it up with an execution with no proof. But we've definitely got our share of idiots running the show.
