Pretty much. Very Happy I think the last thing they did on their own was the Final Fantasy movie; it was made by the American Squaresoft. It wasn't well-received here, but it was loved in Japan from what I read.

Very Happy

That wasn't that bad of a movie, the day it came out everyone attacked it because it looked too real. If I could I'd give those critics the "back of me hand!" Of course that wasn't the only reason.

That and that it wasn't "Final Fantasy-ish". Mr. Green

i've already said my reasoning for not liking it Very Happy ... but i thought the fact that it was real looking was great ... and the fact that it wasn't 'final fantasy-ish' good also ... after all, each final fantasy was differen't ... from i guess tradition european style (ff3/6?) to crazy mixtures of machine and spirit using mako reactors materia etc and even a more traditional asian/japanese style like in ffx ... its just a different setting for the movie ... a future real world, the idea i thought was good ... just the movie in general didn't stir much emotion in me Neutral

That might have been another reason, the fact that it was based on the future earth. and nobody wanted to see a possible future, especially one where we pretty much destroy ourselves by hiding (and yes I know that the monsters put forced them to be in those cages and that we didn't destory ourselves in the process, although they almost did with the Zeus Cannon), (which we will destroy ourselves by the way, just not for a while at least)

Whee, off topic as... everything else. Bah. Kara being Karen... I figure that they were originally translating her name as Karen, but decided, "Eh, let's shorten it to Kara. Leaves us more text space to work with when dragging out those kanji into English." And that was just one they missed while changing them. Or maybe after typing "Kara" 600 times, the translator just got sleepy and accidently typed "Karen." Or maybe his gf was named "karen" and he slipped her name in to show his love for her... Anyways...
I guess Freedan can delight that the fact that you can skip the Wind Melody means he has to play as Will less.
Spirits within... It was good, but not Final Fantasy almost at all, other than having Sid and Hyne. No chocobos. Gotta' have chocobos. They should've just called the movie Gaia like they originally planned. And it was made by a-square, but wasn't the screenplay by Hironobu Sakaguchi? I think so...

Ah, but the original Final Fantasy was more like Dungeons and Dragons, and not "Final Fantasy-like" at all: no chocobos, no Cid's (as far as I've played), no moogles at all. If they wanted to make the movie "Final Fantasy-like" then they should have made it like the original Final Fantasy. It WAS Final Fantasy-like, in the fact that it has NOTHING to do with the games. None of the games are related to each other (except for FFX-FFX2 and FFT-FF12).

Very Happy

No, just FFTA and FFXII. And no. FF:SW is NOT final fantasy. They've built up staples over the years. In modern times, people would freak out if there was an FF without the following:
Cid.
Summon Monsters.
Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder or whatever they are this year.
Chocobos.
Airships.
And FF:SW only has Sid. Unless the spaceships are the airships... and the spirits Aki is collecting are the summons... But there's still no trinity of elemental spells (quadra in FFX), and there's no chocobo.
Argh... *starts trying to shovel the Final Fantasy out of his beautiful IoG thread*

FF - Final Fantasy
SW - Spirits Within
FF:SW - Final Fantasy: Spirits Within

and so

FF:SW = FF

....... . . . . . . . . . . *decides not to bother debating it any further* I also like keeping an apple from Euro so I can eat it while I'm fighting Dark Gaia. And trying to fill up my whole inventory box with Red Jewels, then launching them all at once and chasing the big string of 'em. Yes, I played too much IoG when I was little... By the way, anyone else use Shadow's Soul item as a defense in battle? It's good for dodging some things...
