So I've voted on Jean, talked to every citizen of Loire whenever they had new dialogue and I'm about to board the ship to the new continent after kicking Bloody Mary's sorry behind.

...

But Loire still hasn't expanded.

I've tried looking up this issue in numerous FAQS, but they all mention that simply voting on Jean and then exiting in and out of some world map locations does the trick. So what could I have possibly done wrong?

I've even restarted from an in-game save file from right before the start of the groom hunt, voted on Jean but once again, nothing's happening.

For the love of God...helo me.

That means you even didn't have the chance to get various things like the dress & the wine...?

Loire deffinately should have grown if you voted for jean and the king is dead as you have said has happened. Are you using cart or rom?

Possibly wait and go to freedom then come back if it hasnt happened by then i guess you need to start again

all you need to do is vote for jean. i think you have to do that before you finish norfest, but i'm not sure.
that is really odd.. you playing on a rom? ive had some issues with roms in the trilogy, but never that issue.

Finishing Norfest is required to make the election appear.

But you could be on to something about the ROM part. If so, what aspect of using a ROM could cause something like this? The fact that you can have save states?

UPDATE: I resumed from the in-game save file I had from right before the vote, and played for a while without using the emulator save states. It didn't really surprise me that Loire still didn't expand. I guess I'll just have to start over, using another ROM file.

You could try that. Or maybe you just haven't rested in an inn in another town yet (sounds stupid, but that happened to me once)

i dont think save states are an issue. ive played the game both on cartridge and rom, and never had that issue. it might be a small part of the rom being corrupted (not enough to be unplayable), or maybe its the emulator (some roms, with lufia 2 coming to mind, glitch up at some points on some emulators)

It should expand if you reach litz if i rember correctly.

Anyway, I guess I'll switch ROMs/emulators. Sucks having to restart though...

I have the cart and the rom. I got the rom from a site called Rom Hustler and my emulator is zsnes. I have played through using this rom and all towns expanded

* When the elections come, vote for Jean as the mayor
* Get the Wine from the winemaker and give it to the girl in the pub in Freedom
* Help Pierre with the invention of the Camera
* Get the Clothes from Merily and give them to The 3 Girls in Freedom
* Get the Painting from Matis and give it to Rich in Britain

* Take a picture of Loire with Pierre's Camera and give the picture to the
Tourism Bureau that reside in Loire, Freedom, Nirlake, and Suncoast

so thats only for suncoast? 'cause i thought you needed to do that for every town in order to get them all to expand the final time
