A comment was made about the music in the TerraEarth game. This music is an original soundtrack composed by me. However according to this person my musical style does not fit the nature of the game (to put it delicately). So I have a question to ask, should I:

a) leave the music as is.

b) get a collaborative soundtrack from various TE composers.

c) use a soundtrack from the three TerraEarth games.

d) some combination of the three above.

If you need a refresher, you should download the Demo (see related thread).

Ok, my idea is going to suck, but here goes:

I like the idea of using SB Trilogy music, but why not add other random RPG tunes just for fun? Stuff from Golden Sun, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, etc. Whatever video game tune happens to fit the mood.

However, I also really like the idea of composing our own soundtrack...

...decisions, decisions...

Why not combine the ideas?

leave some of Jason's music in, compose some extra stuff, and "borrow" some music from the SB series and other awesome RPGs.

From what I got to hear, some of the music was good! Other times it wasn't. I liked the main menu music (during the "Logging in to TerraEarth." thing) for sure. Very Happy

a real cool fan made game should have some fan made music as well... like, remixing themes and stuff, you get the point ^^
composing an entire new soundtrack (im not talking about remixing) sounds like a bunch of work...

either way, i'll be happy anyway XD

Okay, I have come to a conclusion:

Jason Tandro

Will provide mainly EVENT music.

Arashi's Thread
about which music sums up your character will provide character themes.
See it in General Discussion.

The SoulBlazerTrilogy
will provide town/dungeon music.

Unique Hometowns
Those of you who have provided me a backstory must choose an INSTRUMENTAL theme for your hometown. This can be self-composed, borrowed from an RPG or whatever.

TE Composers
Feel free to send in any tracks you compose and wish to contribute to TE: Absolute.

Other popular RPG OSTS
will also be making some brief cameo appearances at appropriate places.

The whole point about TerraEarth Absolute is that we are breaking the RPG mold. Sure, I'm coding the game, but it's about every member of TerraEarth contributing what they can to make it as good as possible. Forget whatever you think is cliche, just do whatever you want. This RPG is about all of us.

I say we should not only make the soundtrack ourselves, we should also make remixes of the songs from the trilogy games.

nice nice! how many songs do you need/ can you assemble? and should we PM you our hometown-song?

for the overall game, I'd say use all kinds of songs from the good SNES rpg's.
