Kingdom Smarts II

[Note: This fanfiction wasn’t completed by the time I gave up on it. I threw on a slapdash ending but certain points that I hoped to develop fully I never did. I apologize if this seems rushed, but that’s pretty much what it is, lol.]

Chapter I: The Adventure Begins

Freedan awoke. His eyes darted around the unfamiliar room. Except for the large white pod from which he rose, the room was barren white. It seemed familiar, but Freedan couldn’t remember anything.

Two old friends of his walked in the room. Deathpit of the Red Riotz, and Blade of the Red Sea. The servants of King Boxxle, and Freedan’s trusted friends through all sorts of adventures.

Behind them stood a fox-girl carrying a crossbow. She scratched her ears and rubbed her eyes. This was Joan-Michele, another of Freedan’s friends.

“Uh, where are we?” Freedan asked.

“I don’t know. Looks like some really high-class place, though. Did you all drag me to another party?” Joan asked.

“Be serious, Joan. I can’t remember how we got here,” Blade said.

“Me neither,” Deathpit said. “But we were all sleeping, maybe that has something to do with it?”

“Hey guys,” came a voice. In walked Jason Tandro, the Red Riotz mechanic and a master navigator. “Two questions. Where are we? and Did I get laid?”

“I don’t know, and probably not,” Joan said. “Freedan, was Raini with you?”

“I think I’d remember that,” Freedan said blushing.

“Depends on how drunk you were, which sometimes can be a blessing in disguise,” Joan said. “I mean what if Axe…”

“That’s enough!” Freedan shouted. “We have no idea where we are, and that’s what we need to find out!”

“What’s the rush, I don’t see any Brainless,” Joan said.

“Wait, Brainless,” Blade said.

“Yeah, it’s coming back to me now. We were at the End of the Story…” Jason said. “We all fought so hard… but did we defeat the Brainless?”

“eFlare was controlling them, but we beat him and sealed the keyhole,” Freedan replied.

“I have a bad feeling about this. Let’s take a look outside,” Deathpit said.

The group ran outside. They had been sleeping for a long time inside a manor house. Beyond the mansion was a vast growth of woods and a city.

“Twilight Town…” Freedan said.

“How do you know that?” Joan asked.

“It’s weird.. but I think I’m starting to remember something…” Freedan said.

A vast image of the final battle struck him. The final blow was dealt, but the worlds had split. Raini was thrown back to 3-Mile Islands, Axe and King Boxxle had been locked in the dark realm, and they had been left off in the realm of light…

“We have to head back to Ultimecia’s Castle!” Freedan shouted. “Our friends are waiting there!”

Suddenly a large group of white robed beings appeared before them.

“Uh, Freedan. I sure hope you still know how to use that keyblade!” Joan shouted.

Freedan raised his hand in the air and grasped onto a beam of light. Suddenly the light bursted and formed a sword in the shape of a key. The keyblade.

Freedan rushed through the opponents with effortless ease, slicing them down one after the other. Deathpit blasted through the opponents with his gun and Blade beat them down with magical spells. Joan and Jason contributed from a distance.

Freedan struck down the final opponent.

“This is it,” he said. “Our journey begins again.”

They ran into the city. The sun was setting, but it seemed as though the streets were barren. Perhaps this is what became of the Brainless world when the keyhole was sealed? They made their way uphill to what looked like a train station. Here was where they would leave the world.

They were stopped by three children.

“Hayner, Pence, Olette,” Freedan thought. “But how do I know that?”

“Hey, are you guys new in town?” Hayner asked.

“Yeah, and we were just leaving,” Jason said.

Suddenly the ground shook.

“Dammit! Not more Brainless!” Joan shouted.

Several beings in white appeared once again. The group was surrounded by dozens of the creatures.

“We’ve taken on more, let’s see it!” Deathpit shouted.

“But we gotta take care of the kids!” Blade replied.

“No nutso stunts huh?” Joan cursed. “Those are my specialties.”

“My lance is too long to use in such close range. I need some space to move; I could hit those kids.”

“My keyblade’s no different,” Freedan said.

“My magic is too risky,” Blade cursed. “What are our options?”

Suddenly the doors to the train station burst opened and out jumped a man dressed in black carrying a keyblade.

“Thought you guys could use some help!” the man shouted.

He blazed through the white beings in a blaze of light, cutting them down one by one.

Blade’s head darted up. “Your majesty!”

The man in black removed his hood and the group looked upon the face of King Boxxle. He had long brown hair and a beard.

“Well, keyblade master it is about time you woke up,” King Boxxle said.

Suddenly more of the beasts appeared.

“Go! The train inside knows where to go! You must hurry and flee this area!” Boxxle ordered.

“But your majesty!” Deathpit said. “We are your elite guard. We are honor bound to defend you!”

“You are also honor bound to defend the keyblade master! Now go! I will hold them off!” Boxxle shouted.

“Yes, your majesty!” Deathpit and Blade replied.

The group ran inside. At the station there was a large black train.

“That must be it,” Blade said, rushing on.

“Hey, you aren’t forgetting us are you?” Hayner asked.

“Uh, we have to go. The world’s in danger and there’s no time to develop any teary-eyed emotional sideplot,” Freedan said.

“Fine, but I was like, totally going to make out with you,” Olette said. “Just be sure the next time you come back here you know what the hell’s going on.”

“I tell you. Some people have no class,” Pence said.

“Um, like I’d wanna make out with a little girl?” Freedan asked.

“Get on the train, Freedan,” Joan said. “We’ll leave you behind for the rest of the story!”

“Right, gotta go!” Freedan shouted as he jumped on the train.

“Skank-ass bitch,” Olette cursed.

[Author’s Note: I think I was stoned or some shit when I wrote this, but I wanted to see cute, adorable, friendly Olette act like a bitch.]

The train sped down the tracks of Twilight Town. It drove off the tracks and into a small portion of interspace, where a large floating dome waited.

“That is the realm of the king’s teacher! Gaignum Kukai!” Blade exclaimed.

“Gaignum Kukai? Of the Kukai Foundation that helped us out?” Joan asked.

“Yeah, but it looks like times have changed since we’ve last met. The Foundation has been under a lot of pressure from the Federation. If we plan on meeting with him, we’ll have to keep it under wraps,” Deathpit said. “I just hope that damn Captain Matthews has fixed my Red Riotz.”

They snuck into the city, which was under heavy Federation guard. They managed to make it to the Foundation skyscraper, which was in fact a large ship called the Durandal.

“Ah, so we have guests,” Gaignum said as the group entered his office.

“Master Gaignum,” Blade and Deathpit said, bowing.
“Please, far be it of me to request the bowing of the Descendents of Viagra,” Gaignum said.

“That’s Fianna!” Deathpit cursed under his breath.

[Author’s Note: I’m sorry guys, but this joke really never gets old. Oh wait, it just did.]

“And of course, you have the keyblade master with you. I guess I should be bowing to you,” Gaignum said, He rose his hand in the air. “The King has asked me to inform you of what events have occurred in the past two years.”

“Two years?!” Joan asked.

“Yes. You fell asleep in the darkness, and we had to wait two years for you to return to the light,” Gaignum said. “Things are very different then they used to be. Brainless still abound in each world, and a new fiend: the white-robed Soulless have also appeared.”

“Soulless?” Jason asked. “You mean, like demons?”

“Yes. And if that were all that plagued the worlds we would hardly need to call upon you. However there is another threat plaguing mankind of late. Organization XIII,” Gaignum said.

“Organization XIII?” Jason asked. “That sounds familiar.”

“Well yes, you should know that about two years ago, you halved their ranks before falling into a deep slumber. But seven still remain. Kyle, Jinn, Chainsaw, Kaos, Zeke, Remus and their leader, Wrath.” Gaignum said.

“What are they doing?” Jason asked. “They stirring up the Brainless?”

“No, the Soulless,” Gaignum said. “And they have another plan in motion, but the King has not yet been able to uncover the truth.”

“Well, that settles it then. It’ll be like old times. We’ll bop around the worlds restoring order and kick Organization XIII’s butt!” Joan exclaimed.

“Well that’s the idea,” Gaignum said. “Keep looking for your friends, Freedan. The road that leads to them, surely leads back to the realm of darkness.”

“Why is that?” Freedan asked.

“Because the darkness wishes to take from you hope. And hope is a dangerous thing to lose,” Gaignum said. “Deathpit, Captain Matthews of the Elsa said that he has Red Riotz waiting for you in the storage hangar of the Durandal, next to the Elsa. Please meet him there.”

Deathpit let out a yell of excitement and rushed out of the office. Blade rolled his eyes and bowed.

“Thank you Master Gaignum,” Blade said. “By the way, how do you intend to deal with Federation?”

“You have some old friends who will be able to help us with that sticky situation,” Gaignum said.

“You mean Shion and the others are still alive?” Freedan asked.

Gaignum looked surprised at this question. “Well yes, of course.”

Freedan rubbed his head. “Sorry, but it’s the damndest thing. We seem to have been blacked out for the past two years, and our memories are a little foggy.”

“I understand,” Gaignum said. “They said they’d pay you a visit later at Ultimecia’s Castle. You’d better get going or Deathpit may very well leave without you!”

“Right!” the group shouted as they ran out.

Gaignum smiled. “Those kids are really the hope of our universe? Then we have nothing to worry about.”

“Izzat so?” came a voice.

Gaignum stood up and saw a tall man in a brown trenchcoat with a slick of blonde hair and a scar across his face. In one hand he held a gunblade, and in the other he held a red robe.

“Seifer! What are you doing here?!” Gaignum shouted, lifting his gun.

“You won’t need that gramps, as soon as Ultimecia is revived,” Seifer said.

“No!” Gaignum shouted. “How are you doing it?”

“Simple! Now that Kingdom Smarts is sealed away, the damage done by the Brainless has been neutralized. It’s like everybody who was consumed by them has just started popping back. And that includes her.”

“You will never get away with this,” Gaignum shouted.

“Really? Well then, let’s hope that your keyblade wielding punk is strong enough to handle me. Now for a revival, we need a sacrifice. I think this world should do nicely!” Seifer shouted.

In the Durandal hangar, Deathpit was talking to Captain Matthews, an old gruff looking freighter pilot. With him were two old friends, Shion and KOS-MOS.

“Hey guys!” Shion exclaimed.

“It has been two years, three months, nine days, twelve hours, and forty-two minutes since we last met. I have missed you,” KOS-MOS said.

“Wow KOS-MOS. We’ve missed you too!” Joan smiled.

“She’s coming along quite nicely. I really hope she will understand human emotion soon,” Shion said.

“I understand fear and pain, joy and sorrow, and even excitement. I can feel them myself,” KOS-MOS said.

“Hmm,” Shion said. “What about love?”

“Love is the most irrational and hardest to understand emotion, Shion. It will take me some time to understand it,” KOS-MOS said.

“Oh, I don’t think it will take that long,” Joan smiled. “You just gotta feel it!”

“You forget, I am a machine, Joan,” KOS-MOS said.

“Just think about why you fought with us two years ago,” Joan said. “And ignore your ‘primary directives’, what does your instinct tell you?”

KOS-MOS paused. “I wanted to protect Shion. I would rather be destroyed than see harm come to her.”

“See that’s it! Just keep at it KOS-MOS!” Joan laughed.

“Hey, fur and fangs! The love boat is about to set sail so get your ass in gear!” Deathpit shouted from the top of the Red Riotz.

“Bye! Maybe we’ll stop by and visit sometime-“

Joan was cut off by an alarm.

“What’s going on?” Joan shouted.

“A large energy source has come into contact with the heart of this world. Destruction is imminent,” KOS-MOS said.

“We better get outta here!” Matthews whined. “But the Elsa can’t fly! Deathpit we’re taggin’ along!”

“Then hurry up and get your asses onboard already!” Deathpit shouted as he leapt into the cockpit.

“Wait! The others!” Shion cried out.

“Shion, there is no time for them. The core of the planet has already been exposed. Destruction in T-minus four minutes and fifty-one seconds,” KOS-MOS said.

“I’m not leaving them behind!” Shion shouted.

Shion ran out of the hangar.

“Wait! Shion!” KOS-MOS yelled, running after her.

Freedan leapt off the ship.

“Dammit! Deathpit, wait for me!” Freedan yelled.

Freedan chased them down a corridor in the Durandal commons area. It was overflowing with Brainless. And in front of them was Seifer.

“So you must be the mighty keyblade runt. Too bad my Brainless are turning this planet into dust in a matter of minutes,” Seifer grinned.

“Three minutes, twenty-four seconds,” KOS-MOS stated.

“Shut up robot!” Seifer shouted.

Suddenly a blast hit Seifer from behind.

“That’s no way to talk to a lady!” Shouted a familiar voice.

chaos leapt from a catwalk and struck down Seifer. Running in from the corridor were MOMO and Ziggy.

“We have to go now!” Ziggy shouted. “This planet is breaking up!”

“But what about the Durandal?” Shion asked.

“No time!” chaos yelled. “Try to save everything and you’ll lose everything!”

They ran back to Red Riotz, which was starting to pull out.

“I told you to wait!” Freedan shouted, as Deathpit opened the door.

“I told you to hurry!” Deathpit yelled. The group jumped on and Red Riotz pulled out as an explosion shook the Durandal.

The Red Riotz escaped into Interspace, and saw as Twilight Town and the Durandal were destroyed.

“This is the power of our enemies?” Joan asked.

“It’s no different then two years ago,” Blade said.

“Yes it is,” Freedan said. “Because this time, we’re going to finish it.”

Chapter II: Ultimecia’s Castle

Red Riotz blasted through interspace towards the nearby world of Ultimecia’s Castle.

“We were supposed to meet you here later on, but things sort of changed,” MOMO said.

“It looks like Aoiga, Fixy, Squall and Rinoa have set up a Restoration Committee, but right now, the planet is still plagued with the Brainless. Plus there’s word of Organization goons lurking about. They seem to have their work cut out for them,” Deathpit said.

“Anybody wonder where the hell he gets his info?” Joan whispered to Shion.

Red Riotz landed in the new hangar of Ultimecia’s Castle. To be more precise, the town nearby the castle, because landing in the castle with very little exception means crashing through it.

They walked down the stairs from the hangar into town, and went into the suburbs. They saw a familiar looking building. It was Aoiga’s house.

Inside was Aoiga, Fixy, Squall, Rinoa, Professor Frink and Doctor Eggman.

“Hey guys, long time no see,” Freedan said.

“Wow, has it really been two years?” Rinoa asked.

“You’re late,” Squall said coldly.

“My sentiments exactly. Where have you guys been vacationing at for these two hard years?” Fixy asked.

“Fixy, please. There is more to it then it appears,” Aoiga said. “At least there better be.”

Freedan chuckled. “Nice to see you guys haven’t changed.”

“Frink, Eggman?” Blade asked. “What are you guys doing here, why aren’t you at your worlds?”

“Well it’s quite simple. Aoiga here was asking for assistance on his new Restoration project and I just had to help, with the tools and the know-how and the 221 I.Q., hoyven-mayving.” Frink said.

“As you can see, Frink still has his random outbursts. Besides, my IQ is 243,” Eggman laughed.

Freedan rolled his eyes. He glanced around the room. It was full of books, and computer parts, all which seemed to orbit around one large master computer in the center.

“Freedan, I want to show you something. Meet me at the bailey,” Aoiga said. “Oh, and yes. Come alone.”

Aoiga walked out.

“This new state-of-the-art electronic defense mechanism will protect the town from the Brainless. The only problem is that since Brainless possess no readable Chi energy, it is hard to set the claymore’s to target them.” Eggman said.

“Perhaps I can help,” came a voice. In walked a young man in a white sleeveless shirt, and khakis. He had short white hair, and he had metal tri-hooks attached to his wrist. Hinges near his wrist indicated that these three hooks could be retracted and a barrel at the end of each indicated they acted as a gun. He had a blue bandana and a belt of tools around his waist.

“Son-of-a-bitch,” Jason said. “Didn’t think I’d ever run into you again.”

“Jason Tandro, hanging out with people? That’s a change,” the man smiled.

“Who is this guy?” Joan asked, trying (and failing) to hide her interest.

“This is my old friend Keather Danton. He’s a real whiz kid, but he’s also one hell of a fighter. We used to duke it out with bad guys on our home world, but things are different now,” Jason said.

For the first time ever, Joan noticed a scar of some sort on Jason’s right cheek. It was five diamonds arranged like the order on a card.

“Have you seen Clara?” Jason asked.

Keather hung his head. “Yeah. She went off looking for you about a year ago. She never came back.”

Jason sank to the floor. “You mean…”

There was a moment of awkward silence. Jason stood up and smashed his fist against the wall.

“Whoever the hell put us out has some explaining to do!” Jason yelled.

“Now hold on! She could still be looking for you!” Fixy said.

“Brilliant, Fixy, but since when have you been the crown jewel of optimism?” Jason asked.

“Clara can take care of herself,” Keather said. “Relax. I’m sure she’s fine.”

Jason stopped, smashed his fist against the wall once more and then walked over to Frink.

“You said this thing works by reading Chi right?” Jason asked.

“Well yes, it can pick up any Chi trace within fifteen hundred meters, but I must warn you that it cannot distinguish between multiple life forms,” Frink said.

“It can’t now, but I bet Keather knows how to do it,” Jason said.

“Uh, me?” Keather asked.

“Yeah. Let’s not forget, you’re the smart one. And while you’re at it, try to get their damn defense system to read Brainless,” Jason said.

Freedan walked out of the door, convinced that the others were satisfactorily distracted. He crept down into the bailey of the castle where Aoiga stood fuming.

“You forget? Hurry it up, I want to show you something,” Aoiga said.

Freedan went over to Aoiga, who was leaning out over the side. He climbed up a ladder to an observation tower and Freedan followed.

“The castle reconstruction is moving slower than we expected. Plus we have a problem, a big one,” Aoiga pointed down into the valley of Ultimecia’s Castle where a swarm of Brainless were contained.

Suddenly an explosion rang out from below.

“Brainless?” Freedan asked.

“No, it’s Organization XIII!” Aoiga shouted.

Freedan ran out and saw a man in a black jumpsuit wearing a clown mask controlling a group of Soulless. He had whips which attached to his two wrists.

“This is so fun!” He smiled. “My name is Jinn, and I will be the one who destroys this wretched town.”

“Try again!” Came a voice.

Jason Tandro leapt onto the battlefield. “I didn’t believe it when I first heard it. But it was you Chaosin goons after all.”

“Ah, Jason Tandro, what a pleasant surprise! Lord Remus has been waiting for you. Too bad these Soulless will finish you off first,” Jinn smiled.

With that note, Jinn disappeared.

“Freedan, I haven’t been able to use my full power for a while now. I’ll need your help,” Jason said.

“Of course,” Freedan replied.

Jason leapt onto a Soulless and cut him in two with his lance: Fusion. Freedan tore a large group apart with his keyblade, but he observed Jason’s skill with the blade.

“Jason Tandro… where do you come from…?” Freedan thought.

Suddenly the keyblade began to shine brightly and a large keyhole appeared in the sky above them.

“This time you will not seal the keyhole, but open the gate. With each gate opened, the path to the realm of darkness will become more clear,” a voice said in Freedan’s head.

He unlocked the gate. This journey had so many threads. What was waiting at the end?

“Well, hate to have to leave so abruptly,” Deathpit said. “But we have some worlds to save!”

“Please be careful,” Shion said.

“And come back whenever you need our help,” Fixy said.

Deathpit ignited the thrusters and the Red Riotz blasted out of the hangar and into the vast depths of interspace.

“Well, here we go again…” Joan said.

Chapter III: Blood Gulch

The Red Riotz hovered above a strange planet. It was small to be sure. The only noteworthy area appeared to be a large blocked off canyon.

“That’s Blood Gulch,” Deathpit said. “Says here that two armies are waging war here. The Red Army and the Blue Army.”

“They’re waging war here?” Joan asked.

“Yeah,” Deathpit said.

“For what? A blocked off canyon? I mean seriously. Even if one army pulled out the other would have two bases in a blocked off canyon. Whoop-de-fuckin-doo!” Joan laughed.

“Well, all I know is with a name like Red Riotz, it probably isn’t safe to land here. Why don’t you three beam down and Joan and I will man the ship?” Jason suggested.

“Good idea,” Blade said.

Joan walked up to Jason and smiled, which revealed her fangs. “Yeah. Old Jason wants some time to get to know me.”

“How’d you know?” Jason grinned.

Joan backed off. “I started it, but now it scares me.”

Freedan, Blade and Deathpit beamed down to the planets surface. Freedan was wearing dark blue armor, Blade was in purple armor and Deathpit was wearing red armor.

“These are the best?” Freedan asked.

“This could be problematic…” Deathpit thought.

Suddenly a man in red armor carrying a blue flag ran in front of them. He was being shot at with a sniper rifle from a base to the east.

“Son of a bitch!” He shouted. “Hey stop shooting! It’s me! I’m the guy who bought the flag!”

He ran off towards a base to the west.

“Not good…” Blade thought. They chased after him.

They managed to catch up to him next to a glowing green pillar.

“Hey, were you the bastards who were shooting at me?” The man asked.

“Uh, no. We’re your support from Blood Gulch Outpost Number One,” Deathpit said.

“Finally, some support. Where the hell were you when I was being shot at?” He shouted.

“Who are you?” Freedan asked.

“I’m Private Donut, Sir,” the man said.

Blade laughed. “Private Donut, is it?”

Suddenly a man in Cobalt armor ran up from behind them.

“Hey you, give me the… who the hell are all of you?” He asked.

The man noticed Freedan and Blade.

“Alright. Are you our support? I’m Church. I run Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha,” he said.

“Yeah, you were the asshole who was shooting at me,” Donut said.

“Shut up Sarge,” Church said.

“I’m not Sarge!” Donut cursed. “I’m a rookie! The name’s Donut!”

“And who’s the other red guy!” Church said pointing his sniper rifle at Deathpit.

Deathpit pulled out his rifle. “Think you can shoot me first?”

Freedan pulled Deathpit aside. “I have a plan. We’ll never get anywhere like this. If we split up, we can search for the gate and unlock it. You head back with Donut and we’ll go with these guys.”

Suddenly a man burst out of the green pillar.

“THREE!” He shouted.

He was wearing green armor, that was covered in black goop.

“Tucker!” Church shouted. “What the hell is going on?”

“Hey Church, you caught the Sarge! And some other guys! That’s great, I think…”

“You are a total idiot, Tucker. Don’t you see there’s two red guys right here pointing guns at us?” Church shouted.

Suddenly the ground rumbled and a large jeep rolled in front of the confused group.

“Simmons! Grif! Am I glad to see you!” Donut shouted.

Simmons wore maroon armor, and Grif was in yellow.

“Let’s get the hell outta here!” Simmons shouted.

Suddenly Church opened fire on the jeep.

“Ow, son of a bitch! Get in the jeep rookies!” Grif shouted.

Donut leapt in the passenger seat, and Deathpit rolled onto the hood.

“Don’t let them get away, they have the flag!” Church shouted at Freedan. “God I am so sick of fucking rookies!”

Suddenly as the jeep was rolling away, a large tank came up from behind.

“Damn it! Why are there six pedals if there are only four directions!” shouted the pilot who wore blue armor.

“Caboose! Watch where the hell you’re driving!” Tucker shouted jumping out of the way.

“Acquiring new target,” said a mechanical voice from the tank. The barrel pointed down towards Church.

“That’s not a target… that’s Church.” Caboose said. “Shiela! Stop!”

“He named the tank Shiela?” Church asked.

“Target acquired.” Shiela said.

“What?” Tucker asked.

“Oh son-of-a-“

BOOOOOOOOM! A huge explosion ripped through Church’s body.

“Oh my god! You killed Church!” Tucker shouted. “You team-killing fucktard!”

“Sarge! Are you there?” Simmons asked on the radio.

“Yeah. Go ahead.” A gruff voice said over the radio.

“Okay. I don’t know what the technical military term is for this, but things are pretty fucked up down here. The rookie you sent us captured the Blue Army flag, but we had to rescue him with the Warthog, and that’s when the Blue Army’s tank showed up, and after killing one of it’s own members it’s started attacking the base and we’re pretty convinced we’re gonna fucking die,” Grif said.

There was a pause.

“Am I talking to the right base?” Sarge asked.

“We’re gonna die, Sarge! Do something!” Simmons shouted.

“Hold on there Simmons. I think I have a remedy for your little ‘tank problem’,” Sarge laughed.

The radio cut off.

“By the way Donut, how did you get the Blue Flag?” Simmons asked.

“I just asked for it,” Donut said.

“And that worked?” Grif asked.

“Why? Was it not supposed to?” Donut asked.

“I don’t know. We’ve never really tried it that way…” Grif thought.

“Church is gone…” Tucker cursed.

“What the hell is that guys problem?” Blade asked.

“He’s a rookie. Hey dumbass! Why don’t you turn off the auto-fire?!” Tucker shouted.

“The last time I messed with it, I KILLED CHURCH!” Caboose shouted.

“Oh right… don’t mess with it then…” Tucker said. Tucker looked up into the sky. A large plane was flying overhead. “Oh fuckberries…”

Large shells dropped down from the planes that landed in explosions.

“Rookie, get out of the tank!!” Tucker shouted as he, Freedan and Blade ran back towards the base.

“Okay…oh…open open… Shiela please open the door!” Caboose whined.

The cockpit opened up.

“Driver’s hatch opened. Thank you for driving the MA101 Main Battle-“

CRASH! A massive explosion tore the Scorpion Tank to bits.

“Shiela!!!!! No!!!!” Caboose shouted.

Tucker went back to help Caboose. “You okay? Who’s Shiela?”

“She was the lady in the tank. She was my friend…” Caboose said, crying.

“Oh sweet! I knew you could pick up chicks in a tank!” Tucker laughed.

“So let me get this straight. We managed to capture the flag, but the tank blew our jeep to bits and severely damaged our base. And I’m just going to assume that it was Grif’s fault,” Sarge said.

Sarge was a tall man with red armor and a slightly southern accent. Next to him was his mute robot, Lopez who wore brown armor.

“Well, I guess so…” Simmons said.

“What?!” Grif asked.

“Grif do you have any idea how much that jeep cost?” Sarge asked.

“Uh.. four, five, fifty… fifty dollars?” Grif asked. “You’re gonna kill me aren’t you?”

“I’ll tell you what. I’m a fair man. I’m gonna give you ten Mississippi’s head start before I let Lopez do whatever he wants with you,” Sarge said.

“Okay, running away,” Grif said.

Deathpit walked up to Sarge.

“And who the sam-hell are you?” Sarge asked.

“Uh, I was sent here after Donut. Command thought you needed somebody a little more competent to replace Grif,” Deathpit said.

“That was awfully thoughtful. Okay Lopez, take him out!” Sarge shouted. Lopez began shooting at Grif.

“Well, we have a pretty good idea of what the Blue Army is planning to do. They’ve been using these weird black guys to do their evil unthinkable deeds,” Sarge said. “I want you and Simmons to go on point and hunt them down!”

“Brainless…” Deathpit thought. “And those monsters are a problem too.”

“Okay, all done,” Caboose said. “Your armor is green again.”

“Nice. So, who the hell are you two?” Tucker asked.

“We were sent here by command to back you up,” Blade said.

“Yeah. Thanks to those weird slimy black creatures we’ll need all the help we can get. And our dumbass rookie takes out our best sniper, our flag and our tank all in one fell swoop. Let’s see if command can spare any one else,” Tucker said walking into the base.

“Black creatures?” Blade asked.

“Brainless. And those monsters are gonna be a pain too,” Freedan said.

“This is Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha. We’re in trouble! We need men!” Tucker said.

A squeaky voice came back over the radio.

“Dude, how long have you guys been down there?” The operator asked.

“No. No, shit, no! We need people. We’re down a man and are having trouble fending off both the reds and those creepy little black things,” Tucker said.

“Right okay, we can either have our special forces dropped down within the next two weeks-“

“TWO WEEKS?! We’re gonna be dead by then!” Tucker shouted.

“-Or we could send out a request for a freelancer and have him there within eighteen hours.” The operator finished.

“Oh, yeah, let’s go with that eighteen hour one,” Tucker said.

“Yeah I figure you two would want some fast help,” the operator said.

“You mean us four?” Tucker asked. “Your other two guys showed up today.”

“What other two? Caboose was it, you got lucky with that man,” the operator said.

“Wait, so you didn’t send anyone else?” Tucker asked.

“Nope, that was it,” the operator said. “Oh look, gotta go.”

The radio cut off, and Tucker rushed outside with his submachine gun.

“Hey, do you ever wonder why we’re here?” Simmons asked.

“Yeah, that is the question isn’t it?” Deathpit asked. “There should really be nothing. No universe, no worlds, no interspace, no keyblade. Everything. I mean, is there really a God?”

Simmons gave Deathpit a queer look.

“No, I meant why are we here in this canyon?” Simmons asked.

“Oh,” Deathpit replied.

“What was all that stuff about God, and a keyblade?” Simmons asked.

“Nothing…” Deahtpit said.

“You wanna talk about it?” Simmons asked.

“No…” Deathpit replied.

“Look!” Simmons shouted.

A small horde of Brainless were marching down from a ridge that ran alongside the canyon.

“There’s gotta be a hundred of the buggers!” Simmons shouted. “We’d better go report!”

“Okay, hands up you spying scuzbags!” Tucker shouted, pointing his gun at Blade and Freedan.

“What are you talking about?” Freedan asked.

“Don’t play dumb. Command didn’t send you. You’re with the Red’s aren’t you. That other guy, Deathpit. He was your contact wasn’t he? You’re the ones that set the tank to kill Church aren’t you. You bastards!” Tucker shouted.

“Oh for crying out loud man!” Blade shouted. “We came on this planet to eradicate the Brainless!”

“Hey look, I know Caboose killed Church, but without him, it’d be me against four reds and I don’t like those odds. And I still have to get the flag back!” Tucker shouted.

“No! No! I mean those little black things! Those are called Brainless. They try to steal peoples brains!” Freedan said.

There was a pause.

“Then what the hell are they doing in THIS canyon?” Tucker asked.

“Ahh! Bad ghost! Go away! Evil Church ghost!” Caboose shouted from the front of the base.

“Church?” Tucker asked.

The three ran to the front of the base where a Brainless in the shape of Church was attacking Caboose.

Freedan lifted his keyblade and sliced through the Brainless, but it retaliated by firing on Blade.

“Hey! He’s the one that attacked you!” Blade shouted. “Alright then! Divine water lord, dance with the power of light to wash away my opponents. With my guidance, I summon you: Bismarck!”

Suddenly a large tidal wave flooded through the canyon with a white whale at the forefront.

“Blade you idiot! That summon will flood the canyon! There is no where for the water to go!” Freedan shouted.

However the Brainless was defeated, and Tucker, Caboose, Freedan and Blade managed to get on the roof of the base.

“Tuuuucckkkerrrr! Tuuuuccckkkerrr!” a ghostly voice said. The ghost of Church appeared on the roof. “I have come back with a warning!”

“If it’s about that don’t summon a water-elemental in the middle of a blocked canyon, I totally figured that out already,” Blade said.

“Who the hell? Oh it’s you guys,” Church said. “Listen, that freelancer you hired, Tex? Don’t trust him.”

“Tex? Why is he called Tex?” Caboose asked.

“Because he’s from Texas,” Church said. “Anyways. If you let him get involved. Things will get really bad down here.”

“Come in Blood Gulch Outpost Alpha…” came a voice over the radio.

“What the hell, Vics?” Tucker asked. “Hold on Church.”

“Hey guys, what the hell did you do? Blood Gulch is now a huge lake on an otherwise noteless planet,” Vics said.

“Oh yeah, those guys I told you about, they’re here and they sorta flooded the place,” Tucker said.

“I like swimming,” Caboose said.

“Well we can’t land anything like this, so you’ll have to wait a while for that help,” Vics replied.

“Oh, son-of-a-bitch!” Tucker shouted.

“Who wants to play Marco Polo? I never win at Marco Polo….”Caboose said.

“Well it’s obvious what’s happened,” Sarge said. “This is all a clever plan from the blues to drive us mad and stave off our food supply until we have to eat one of our own men to survive.”

There was an awkward pause, and the group looked at Grif.

“Grif, are you prepared to make the supreme-“

“No, Sarge,” Grif said.

“Too bad cause you don’t have a choice. Dibs on the leg meat, that’s the best part,” Sarge ordered.

“Hey new guy, you’ve been pretty quiet,” Simmons said.

“Well yes, that’s because I don’t want to be a bother,” Donut said.

“What? You? No I meant the other new guy,” Simmons said looking at Deathpit.

“I’m just concerned about how we’ll make it to blue base in this condition,” Deathpit said.

“Don’t you worry about that. I already have Lopez working on it. He’s converting the Warthog into a flyer so that we can glide effortlessly across the water to the blue base. But we’ll need to appease Poseidon. I recommend we use Grif as a human sacrifice,” Sarge said.

“How are we gonna open the gate like this and without Deathpit’s help?” Freedan asked.

“I don’t know. We could call in Red Riotz to help,” Blade said.

“I wouldn’t trust Jason piloting in this narrow ravine,” Freedan said.

“Hey, would you two stowaways shut up! You’re not helping!” Tucker said.

As it was, Freedan and Blade were sitting in a cell in the blue base. Tucker was mopping up excess water and Caboose was using a hair dryer to even out the floor.

“Soon it will be good as new. And we can play a new game I invented called, let’s not kill Caboose. It’s real easy. All you have to do, is not kill me,” Caboose said.

Suddenly a loud explosion rung out over the canyon.

“What the hell?” Tucker shouted.

“Alright Lopez. Blow them outta the water. If you run out of ammo, you can use Grif’s!” Sarge shouted.

“My ammo won’t work with these cannons!” Grif said.

“Then we’ll load you into the rocket launcher.” Sarge said.

They were flying now in a small flight module called the Banshee (another one of Sarge’s great names) and they were firing on the Blue base.

Deathpit was hanging onto the end, cursing his luck.

Freedan and Blade burst out of the cell, much to Tucker’s surprise, and ran to the top of the base.

“What the hell are you doing?!” Tucker shouted.

“Saving your ass!” Blade shouted as he opened a radio connection with Red Riotz.
“Jason get down here and take out that Banshee!!”

“Right! I’m on it!” Jason said swooping down into the valley with the Red Riotz.

”What the hell?” Deathpit asked. “Red Riotz?”

Red Riotz destroyed the Banshee with a shot from it’s main cannon, and then landed on the ridge nearby.

“How’s that?” Jason asked.

“Nice,” Blade said. “But you need to save those guys! If we kill them then we’d be meddling!”

“Like this isn’t already?!” Joan’s voice rang out. “Okay, deploying grappling hooks!”

The Red Riotz pulled the Red’s and Deathpit and set them down on the Red Base.

Deathpit, Freedan and Blade met on the ridge next to Red Riotz.

“Well they won’t be able to attack each other for a while,” Blade said.

“Thanks for helping out my friends,” came a voice. It was the ghost of Church.

“Church. Sorry about meddling,” Deathpit said.

“No it’s okay. Just do me a favor and if the Brainless ever show up again, come back to help,” Church said.

“You can count on it,” Freedan said. Suddenly the green transport pillar shone brightly and a keyhole appeared in the sky.

Freedan lifted up his keyblade and opened the gate.

“Okay now, we have to go. Other worlds to save,” Freedan said. “We’ll be back!”

Red Riotz rose off and blasted into interspace. Church looked out over the gulch.

“Alright! With this new weapon we’ll finally be able to take out the blue base!” Sarge’s voice sang out.

“I can’t believe I died for this war…” Church cursed.

Chapter IV: Nightmare Castle

The Red Riotz sailed through interspace, as Freedan, Blade and Deathpit dried off from their previous encounter at Blood Gulch.

“It’s hard to imagine people can be so stupid as to fight over small worlds like that one,” Joan said. “Are you sure it’s okay to leave them alone?”

“Meh, they’ll either blow each other to bits or make peace. Either way we needn’t be involved to deeply,” Jason said.

Deathpit took over control of the Red Riotz again and flew towards a strange black planet with a castle at its core.

“That’s strange,” Deathpit said. “It’s beyond the scope of time and space…”

“What? Is it a Brainless planet?” Freedan asked.

“Hmmm, no I don’t think so. But the infestation level is almost total. Whatever’s going on, it’s consuming the planet,” Deathpit said. “And that’s not the half of it. Technically speaking this planet doesn’t exist within our world…”

“Like a Gnosis?” Joan asked. [Author’s Note: See Kingdom Smarts One, or Xenosaga].

“Weirder than that. This area exists within the realm of dreams… the twenty-fifth dimension…” Deathpit said.

“What’s the twenty-fourth?” Jason asked.

“I don’t know. If we are planning on beaming you guys down you will be broken down into dream particles. If you die in a dream, you die in real life,” Jason said.

“Well we have no choice. Let’s go!” Freedan said.

“Hey wait a minute. I’m not sticking with Jason again. You know he was totally hitting on me,” Joan laughed.

“That’s not true!” Jason shouted.

Joan laughed even harder. “I insist on coming with you. Besides I always get such cute outfits when I go with you guys! Let’s go!”

The “cute outfits” were western American. Freedan wore a brown leather jacket and jeans. His keyblade was turned into something of a rifle. Blade and Deathpit wore black leather outfits. Blade carried a revolver and Deathpit had a subgatling gun. Joan wore a red dress and carried a sniper rifle in place of her crossbow. She had reverted to human form.

“See, what’d I tell you? I can get all sorts of wolf-love in this thing,” Joan grinned.

“Is she even human?” Deathpit asked.

“I’m not sure…” Blade replied.

Standing in front of them, at the base of a small stairwell, were four warriors. A tall dark man wearing a brown leather vest and matching pants. He had dark brown hair and carried a shotgun.

There was a smaller man with spikey white hair. He wore black pants and a brown poncho. He carried a submachine gun.

Next to him was a woman with red hair in a pigtail. She wore a longsleeved pink dress and carried twin revolvers.

Standing by her was a taller man with short green hair. He wore a black trenchcoat and had glasses. He carried a sniper rifle.

“Hey Clive, we have guests. Think they’re with Beatrice?” The tall dark man asked.

“No, Gallows,” the green-headed one responded. “They came in like us. But from where?”

“Well,” said the white-haired one. “If they aren’t with us, then they’re probably against us.”

The girl grabbed the ear of the white-haired one. “That’s really rude Jet. He means well, I’m sure of it. My name is Virginia Maxwell. This is his royal rudeness Jet. The sniper on my right is Clive and the tall one is Gallows.”

Gallows walked over to Joan. “The name is Gallows Caradine. It is my job to make all the ladies feel at home even in a dark and creepy place like this. Want me to show you around?”

“You should know,” Joan said. “That my species feeds on human flesh when we mate.”

There was a pause, and Gallows slowly crept back to his group, where Virginia slapped him in the face.

“So, uh what exactly is this place?” Blade asked.

“This is the castle of the Nightmare Lord Beatrice. She is a dream-demon. Perhaps you’ve heard of them?” Clive said.

“A dream-demon? Here?” Joan shouted.

“Dream-demon?” Deathpit asked. “What is that?”

“A dream-demon is a monster that cannot be beaten except while you sleep. They corrupt souls, and can even destroy whole worlds,” Joan cursed.

“Then that must be where the gate is!” Freedan said.

“The gate?” Virginia asked.

“Listen, forgive us for the intrusion, but may we come along with you?” Freedan asked.

Virginia was startled by this question and nodded her head.
“Well, it’s not that simple…” came a voice.

“It’s Beatrice!” Gallows shouted.

At the top of the stairwell appeared a small girl with long black hair and a black dress. Joan cocked her head to the side.

“This is the Nightmare Lord?” Joan asked.

“Ah, more visitors! You’re all welcome of course!” Beatrice said. “Welcome to die!”

Suddenly a horde of Brainless surrounded the eight.

“Jinn! Come and destroy them once and for all!” Beatrice shouted.

The clown-faced Jinn appeared once again. He walked out into the foyer and brandished his whips.

“This is going to be fun!” Jinn grinned.

Jinn leapt at the group.

“Virginia! You guys take on the Brainless! We’ll take care of Jinn!” Blade shouted.

“My orders are to exterminate the keyblade master! That means you four will be dining with me tonight!” Jinn shouted. He raised his hands in the air and the five of them warped to a large dining room.

Freedan fired several rounds out of his keyblade, but Jinn used his whips to deflect the bullets. Blade cast a powerful Blizzard spell, but it only strengthened the steel whips. Deathpit and Joan fired at Jinn from behind, but his jumpsuit reflected the bullets.

“Dammit! How do we beat this guy!” Freedan cursed.

Suddenly a voice rang out. It was Jason’s voice.

“His whips are his weak-point. If you can use them against him, you can win!” Jason shouted.

“How do you know this?!” Joan asked.

But the voice was gone and Jinn was preparing to attack.

“Joan!” Freedan shouted. “I have an idea!”

Freedan lifted Joan on his back and leapt into the air. Jinn flailed at Freedan with his whip, but Freedan blocked it with his keyblade, and the whip rolled around it. Joan landed on the whip and grinded down it towards Jinn. She fired several rounds from her gun, all which hit Jinn square in the chest, and then ended it with a kick from her boots. She leapt back away from Jinn.

“Yes!” Joan shouted.

Jinn laughed harder. “That tickled!”

“Well let’s see if this does!” Blade shouted. “Orion, god of light and master of the guided storm, and Huricos, god of the wind and sea! Give my rage a form that can shatter the strongest of opponents. I summon you, Ixion!”

A bolt of lightning flashed through the room and out stepped a horse covered in lightning bolts. It sent a powerful shock through Jinn’s whips, which electrocuted him. Jinn collapsed to the ground in a heap.

“Even in death, I know that you will never defeat Remus or Wrath…” Jinn said.

They appeared back in the foyer of the castle, where the four others lay wounded.

“Virginia!” Blade shouted. “Jet! Clive! Gallows!”

“Are you guys okay?” Joan asked.

“Beatrice went through there…” Gallows said pointing towards a door. “We tried to chase her, but those monsters…”

“Blade, heal them!” Freedan said.

Blade cast several curative spells on them, but they failed to work.

“What’s wrong?!” Blade asked.

“It must be this dimension…” Joan thought. “The spells are being absorbed into the core of the planet…”

“And the only Chi energy is Brainless…” Freedan thought. “We have to get them out of here.”

“No!” Virginia said. “We have to beat Beatrice, or she’ll destroy Filgaia.”

“You can’t fight the way you are!” Deathpit said. “We’ll take you to Ultimecia’s Castle where you can rest up. If you die on the battlefield, you’ll never save your world.”

Virginia got up, and leaned against a wall. “I guess you’re right. But I’m not going to die.”

She walked down the hallway towards the Master Chamber. Clive got up and followed behind her. Gallows went after. Jet laid there for a while, but finally got up and followed them.

“We’d better help them,” Joan said.

“No,” Freedan said. “This is their fight. If their heart is in it, then they will win.”

Suddenly a keyhole appeared over the door they entered from. Freedan opened the gate.

“Okay. It’s time to go home!” Freedan said. He turned to the corridor. “Good luck you guys.”

Virginia opened the door the Master Chamber.

“So you all came after all?” Beatrice asked. “For a while I thought you were gonna leave me with nobody to play with!”

Virginia cocked her guns. “We’ll play with you!”

“Why do you try so hard to fight for a dying planet? One that will be forgotten in the swarm of memories? Why not fight to save planet’s with a hope of survival, like Freedan?” Beatrice asked.

“There is always hope. I will never forget my home, Filgaia. And I will never forget the friends who helped me. I will never forget you either, Beatrice. But I will not let you become anyone else’s memory!” Virginia shouted.

The battle to save Filgaia’s memories had begun…

Chapter V: Fun City Stadium

“So Jinn was vanquished then?” a shadowy voice asked.

The hall in Castle Oblivious chattered with rumor and confusion. Had the keyblade master really returned?

“Kyle, what do you think of these matters?” Chainsaw, the cyborg, asked.

“What do you mean?” Kyle replied. “Jinn was a weak-minded imbecile. He stood no chance against the keyblade master.”

“But I thought only SoulBlazer could wield the keyblade. What has changed?” Asked Zeke, the swordsman.

“SoulBlazer is a Soulless of Freedan. Don’t you get it?” Remus, the dark-half replied.

“So then, it is true. Alphi was the Soulless of Raini, but came from Freedan…” Wrath, the abstract, replied.

“I heard rumors that Kyle was spending time with eFlare the Wise,” Remus said.

Kyle raised his fists in the air and slammed them on the table.

“That is a lie, Remus! And what of you? Why haven’t you taken care of Jason Tandro yet?” Kyle retorted.

“The same reason that Zeke has not taken care of Joan and Chainsaw has not taken care of Aoiga and Fixy. By seeking revenge for our lost selves, we risk damaging Kingdom Smarts,” Wrath said. “Remus… I leave the other four in your care now. Make sure that nobody interferes with our plans. And if he manages to open the final door… you will take care of him.”

“Okay, so where to now?” Jason asked.

“Well there is a planet a short distance from here. But the funny thing is it’s in the same coordinates that Expel used to be,” Deathpit said.

“Could it be a Brainless planet that merged?” Joan asked.

“You always ask that and I always say no,” Deathpit griped. “This is actually a Class 9 Supernova… but it’s frozen…”

“Frozen?” Jason asked.

“Basically, it’s in the middle of an explosion, but it just stopped in the middle. And there are people there too! This is insane. The planet’s name is Nede. It was on the Earth Federation’s survey, but they never went exploring…” Deathpit said.

“For obvious reasons,” Blade noted. “Want to land, Freedan?”

Freedan nodded. “The keyblade led us here for a reason.”

Freedan, Blade and Deathpit beamed down to the planet’s surface. They stood in the center of a barren stadium. The only one nearby was a familiar man with two dragons on his back.

“Damn it, they always leave me behind…” he complained.

“Ashton!” Freedan called.

Ashton turned around and waved. “Freedan! Long time no see! Blade, Deathpit, how are you guys?”

“The real question is how are things here?” Freedan asked.

“Oh? Well there haven’t been any Brainless running about if that’s what you mean. Fun City has been Brainless free for two years now,” Ashton said.

“I meant what are you doing on Nede?” Freedan asked.

Ashton nodded. “Oh right. Well it’s a funny story. Nede sort of crashed into Expel and we got blasted here. Claude, Rena, Leon, Precis, Celine and even Dias. We’re stuck here, but we’re planning on bringing back Expel.”

“How will you do that?” Freedan asked.

“We’re making our move on the enemy stronghold at Fienal Tower,” Ashton said. “Claude’s in charge of the operation. Maybe you should go speak with him.”

Freedan nodded and the three walked out of the stadium into a small waiting room, similar to that of Expel. Claude, Rena and Celine were waiting there.

“Freedan, Blade, Deathpit!” Rena called out.

“Hey guys, what’s up!” Celine shouted.

“We heard about what happened. Are you all alright?” Freedan asked.

“We’re fine, but if we don’t hurry to attack Indalecio, this planet might face the same fate as Expel,” Claude said.

“Who’s that?” Blade asked.

“Indalecio is the Brainless leader for this planet. He’s already conquered most of the planet’s surface. Preparations were supposed to take place at L’aqua, but he managed to discover our intentions so we have to move it here,” Claude said.

“Oh… then do you need our help?” Freedan asked.

“We couldn’t ask that of you,” Rena said. “You’ve already helped us enough.”

“Yeah, we helped you save a world that got destroyed. I think we owe you one,” Freedan said.

“We can always use the help,” came a deep voice. It was Dias, the master swordsman.

“Hey Dias,” Deathpit called. “How ya been?”

Dias ignored the question and went right to the heart of the matter. “We’re holding tournaments here to determine a scout party. If you win, you will be given the ‘privelege’ of storming the keep as a recon unit.”

“Great prize,” Blade said. “What’s the runner up get? A free root canal?”

“Well, if anyone can survive this, it’d be you,” Rena said. “Good luck.”

“Good luck? What makes you think we’re entering?” Deathpit asked.

“I am,” Freedan said walking into the tournament.

“Joan? Do you remember your home world much?” Jason asked.

“Yeah. I was on 3-Mile Islands with Freedan, Raini and Axe. It was fun, but I guess those days are over,” Joan sighed.

“Do you remember a man named Zeke?” Jason asked.

“Zeke? Yeah he was a quiet guy who kept to himself. He always carried around a sword. Why do you ask?” Joan asked.

“Because, he was one of the Chaosin… that is to say Organization XIII,” Jason said.

Joan cocked her head to the side. “How do you know this?”

“I come from a world were those men ruled all. Kyle, Lance, Jinn, Zeke, Tiana, Chainsaw, Remus and Wrath. Who the other five were, I do not know, but they were named SoulBlazer, Ark, Askman, Phoenix, and Dark Samurai,” Jason said.

“But Lance, and Tiana are dead right? And the other five?” Joan asked.

“Yes, except SoulBlazer. And I thought the other’s were killed. But it turns out that they are very much alive...” Jason said.

Joan sat down next to Jason.

“Tell me about them…” Joan asked.

“No,” Jason said. “All I can say is that I am forever bound to their memory.”

“Why?” Joan asked.

Jason sat silently staring at the planet’s surface.

“And the winner’s by a landslide: Freedan, Blade and Deathpit!” the announcer shouted over the speakers.

Freedan walked over to Dias. “So, what’s the mission?”

“You are to do recon on the enemy keep, but do not attack unless attacked,” Dias replied.

“Right, just give us a boat,” Freedan said.

The boat turned out to be a large beast that swallowed the party and dove down hundreds of meters beneath the ocean surface to swim under the barrier that surrounded Fienal.
When they surfaced, soldiers from all over Nede were stationed and preparing an attack.

“Jeez, I thought we were just an advance party,” Blade noted.

“Well, we want to be sure we’re ready in case anything happens,” Dias said.

“By the way… us three are it?” Freedan asked.

“Well, not quite. I’ll be your superior officer,” Dias said.

Freedan nodded. “Fine then. I hope you know Fienal a little better than I do.”

Dias shook his head. “The area around it is a labyrinth of forests and nobody has ever stormed the keep.”

“Well,” Deathpit chuckled. “That sounds lovely.”

Dias grinned. “Well at least we have three heroes with us.”

The trek to Fienal was difficult enough, without the constant reminder that there was no back-up and no safe retreat if they failed their mission. Freedan didn’t know much about Indalecio, but he felt that after his previous battles, one Brainless leader shouldn’t be too difficult to take care of.

They managed to sneak in without being detected, but once they made it inside the fortress, sneaking around became far more difficult. Robotic patrols were everywhere, and there was no point where a corridor was without a guard.

“We really could use Eggman’s help right about now,” Blade whined.

“Well, he can’t help us. And we aren’t going to be stopped by a mere guard!” Dias shouted.

Dias leapt out in front of the machine. “Crios, god of time and master of the universe: Send us your valiant, though incompetent son! Let him turn our enemies into dust that scatters the heavens! I summon you, Katamari!”

A small green man and a large orb appeared in front of Dias.

“Prince, these robots are your targets!” Dias shouted.

The green man nodded and rushed at the robots, capturing them on the surface of the orb. Up one corridor and down the other until the ball was too big to fit in the hallways. The prince did a bow and the orb disappeared in a bright rainbow.

“That was… different…” Freedan laughed.

“Took care of those guards nice, though,” Blade chuckled. “I gotta learn that summon!”

Dias walked back. “Quit your laughing, it’s time to move out, before they are replaced.”

The group ran to a teleporter that led them to the top of the tower. Waiting before them was a man in white. He had red hair.

“Well now, welcome to my room,” he smiled.

“This must be Indalecio!” Dias shouted.

Indalecio bowed deeply. “It is an honor that you know my name. I have no time to deal with you for now. So I’ll make you a deal. If you hold off your attack for two weeks, I will show you the gate.”

Freedan glanced at Dias. Dias shrugged. “Our orders were to do recon. We won’t attack you, yet. Show our friends the gate.”

Freedan leapt in front of Dias. “Dias! What are you doing?”

Dias put his hand on Freedan’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. We’ll hold off. But not for two weeks,” he whispered. “In the meantime, you need to hurry up and find out where the Brainless are coming from and shut them down for good this time.” Dias made sure to say that part loud, so that Indalecio wouldn’t grow suspicious.

Indalecio laughed. “It’s time then to show you the gate!”

Indalecio pointed at a crest next to him. “This is the Crest of Annihilation! If you unlock it, you open the gate, but you will grant me access to the power I need!”

“No!” Blade shouted. “How could you have come across that Crest?! It was banished!”

“I have rediscovered it. Of course it will take me about two weeks to determine how to effectively use it…” Indalecio grinned.

“I knew it,” Dias cursed. “You must be working with Ultimecia!”

Indalecio let out another laugh and tore off his robe and red wig. In his place stood Seifer.

“Seifer!” Deathpit shouted.

“I already took care of these idiots. I still intend to tell Ultimecia about this Crest, mind you. My deal still stands,” Seifer said, holding out his hand.

“Ultimecia has returned?” Freedan shouted.

“Yeah. And those Organization goons are a pain too,” Seifer laughed. “It’s funny how it all comes back to you, the keyblade master.”

Freedan shouted and lifted his keyblade. A beam of light shot from his blade and he opened the gate.

“Freedan!!” Blade shouted. “What did you do?!”

“This idiot will never be able to uncover the power behind the crest, and even Ultimecia will take her time. Don’t worry. We’ll be back in time to counter you,” Freedan said.

They turned to leave, when Seifer shouted: “You think you can just leave?!”

Seifer leapt at Freedan, who simply turned and countered his sword with his keyblade, and sent Seifer flying to the ground.

“What the hell?” Seifer asked.

Freedan turned around and faced Seifer. “The only reason you are aiding Ultimecia is so that you can find Squall and Rinoa isn’t it?”

Seifer stood up and shook his fist. “That’s not true! I want to help her take over the universe!”

“Give it a rest,” Blade said. “You aren’t a killer.”

“A friend of mine, Axe, did the same thing before. If you entrust your life to her all you’ll end up with is regret,” Freedan said.

Seifer yelled in rage, and then drew his sword: “Not this time!”

Freedan turned around, and looked Seifer straight in the eyes. “I know where they are, and so does Ultimecia. If you can trust her, then why don’t you ask her yourself.”

Seifer lowered his blade. “You’re lying.”

With that Seifer left the tower.

Dias rubbed his head. “Um.. I guess that’s it?”

“Either that, or he or Ultimecia will come back and try to use the Crest. Be ready for an attack until we give you the all clear, okay?” Freedan asked.

“Right!” Dias replied. “We’ll stand guard until then.”

“Wow, it’s like you just made it here and now you’re gonna leave already?” Ashton asked.

“Sorry, but we’ll be back. We promise,” Freedan said.

“That’s what you said the last time,” Rena smiled. “And you kept your word. Just next time, stay for a little longer, okay?”

“Yeah, and try to catch us at a time where we can be a little more sociable,” Celine chuckled.

The three nodded.

“Okay Jason, beam us up,” Freedan said.

“Hey, Jason those are my rice balls! Get your own!” Joan shouted.

“Hey I cooked them myself! Get away!” Jason shouted back.

“Our friends…” Blade laughed.

Chapter VI: Tower of Babel

The Red Riotz soared silently through space. The crews homecoming was filled with doubt.

“First the Organization, then the Soulless, and now Ultimecia has returned?” Blade thought.

“Things are getting too suspicious,” Freedan thought. “We need to find the king and find out what’s going on!”

“Whoa!” Jason shouted. “Deathpit incoming mayday!”

Deathpit leapt over to the pilot’s seat. He began clicking away furiously on keys.

“This is great…” Deathpit groaned. “We got trouble over at the Tower of Babel.”

“Could it be the king?” Blade asked.

“No. We got a call from the ship mechanics, Chicken and Coz,” Deathpit replied.

“Chicken and Coz?” Freedan asked.

“Yeah, before Jason took over they fixed the ship. Look, we don’t have time for this. I’ve already set the ship on a warp for the Tower of Babel. We need to decide on a landing crew,” Deathpit said.

“Well it’s obvious. You, Blade and Joan are coming with me,” Freedan said.

“No.” Blade said. “We swore to the Queen that we would not return until we found King Boxxle. Take Jason and Joan.”

“But guys! We found the king! We know he’s somewhere back in Twilight Town!” Freedan shouted.

“Really?” Deathpit asked. “Well I have news for you. Twilight Town isn’t on the radar anymore.”

Freedan’s head sunk. There was a moment where the keyblade master felt true despair.

“That’s irrelevant!” Freedan shouted, rising up and grabbing his blade. “Just beam me down to the planet’s surface and I’ll beat the answer out of any of those Organization thugs!”

Deathpit nodded. “Okay, man! Take them out for us!”

The Tower of Babel looked deserted. Only the two mechanics were waiting for them.

“Hey,” said a man with spikey red hair. “You must be the keyblade master I was told about. Name’s Chicken.”

Another man in a black outfit turned around and grinned. “I’m Coz. You look like you got the hell beat out of you, and there are worse things than Brainless here.”

“What are our orders?” Freedan asked.

“Some Organization punk is in the Throne Room! Go help the servants!” Coz shouted.

Freedan, Jason and Joan ran down the corridor. When they reached the throne room, they found it crawling with Soulless.

“Damn it!” Joan shouted. “What are we supposed to do now?”

“Fight,” Jason said calmly drawing his lance. The scar on his face shined brightly as he tore down Soulless on his way to the throne.

“This is what Jason can do?” Freedan asked.

Jason leapt through hordes of Soulless, until he made it to the throne, where a man with long black hair, wearing a dark black robe sat. He had the same scar that Jason did.

“Remus,” Jason cursed.

“Ah, Jason. So good of you to show up,” Remus laughed, clapping his hands. “Too bad I don’t have time to play with you.”

Remus pulled a black lance out from behind the throne which erupted in a large orb. Remus disappeared, and in his place stood a man with short black hair, wearing a black robe. He held up two swords. One was green and the other was blue.

“Jason, it is my honor. I am Zeke, the swordsman. I have found your swords to be quite useful tools in my service to the Organization,” Zeke grinned.

“I’ll reclaim them,” Jason shouted. “But I have a friend wh

“I’ll reclaim them,” Jason shouted. “But I have a friend who you should meet!”

Joan leapt in front of Jason and lifted her crossbow. “You will pay for destroying our land!”

As Freedan tore down the Soulless, Joan and Jason exchanged blows with Zeke, who matched them brilliantly with his twin swords.

“Jason, you can’t even defeat me?” Zeke laughed. “Then what hope do you have against Remus?”

Jason stepped back and made a large circle with his hand. A strange crest appeared with the zodiacs circling around it. Another smaller circle appeared in the center, with the symbol of destruction, Omega, in the center.

“That spell!” Zeke shouted.

“Yes, I am slowly remembering how to use it,” Jason said.

The outer circle began to spin rapidly and then ignited. The Omega symbol glowed brighter, until suddenly it too burst into flame.

“Necron, god of the underworld and diviner of souls, I grant you a release for your fury and hatred towards all those that live. Make this battleground a testament to your might. I summon you, Apocalypse!” Jason shouted.

A large circle appeared on the floor between Jason and Zeke, and a pillar of light shot up, engulfing them both in white light. The earth shook fiercely, but when the light receded, only Jason stood, holding Zeke’s swords.

Joan stepped back, because Jason’s face was not the same. It was not the quiet, gentle face she knew before. It was a stronger, more rigid, and colder face then she’d ever seen. His blonde hair was slightly darker and his eyes had grown deeper.

“Jason…” Joan gasped.

“That is the penalty for using a spell derived in the nether realms,” Jason said. “I am becoming more like my old self. That’s not a pleasant thought.”

“What was that?” Freedan asked.

“He was one of the members of Organization XIII. He is also directly responsible for eFlare gaining access to your world,” Jason said. “I cannot begin to believe that Organization XIII being comprised of members of the Chaosin was just a mistake.”

Freedan shook his head. “Well in any case, it seems that the Soulless have gone. Let’s find the Queen!”

They ran down a small corridor that extended behind the throne. Waiting for them, they found a woman dressed in battle armor. She held a sword in one hand and a torch in the other.

“This is the Queen?” Freedan asked.

“I am Valdera, the Queen of this castle,” the woman said.

“Valdera is not her real name,” Blade whispered. “It is a name she took on when she ascended to the throne.”

“I am fine, and the castle is safe, except for one room, where the darkness is seeping in,” Valdera said. “Our cornerstone has been plagued with darkness that was not there before. The only way a person could have gained entrance is through the Time of Void.”

“The Time of Void?” Blade asked. “You mean the era in Terra Earth’s history before the creation of worlds?”

“Yes. When the cornerstone of light burst forth and created the worlds, a piece of it remained in the Tower of Babel. That is why it is so important that it remain here,” Valdera explained.

“Need help fixing it?” Came a voice. Fixy walked in from the corridor.

“Fixy, what are you doing here?” Jason asked.

“I heard you needed some high powered sorcery to open the gate to the Time of Void,” Fixy said.

“Can you do it?” Valdera asked.

“It’ll take some work. I’ll need Blade’s help to concentrate enough chi energy to keep the gate open,” Fixy said. “And when you get in there, stop the darkness and get out. You will be tempted to do something very dark when you get in there, but you must not alter time.”

“Trust me, we can handle a few Time Paradoxes…” Joan chuckled. Blade and Fixy flashed her a stern look. “It was just a joke… lighten up.”

“Okay you four. In the hole!” Fixy shouted as a large circle appeared on the floor in front of them. “Also you’ll be soaring back through millions of years, so roll when you land.”

Freedan, Joan, Jason and Deathpit landed in a realm of complete darkness. Around them swirled mist and voices of the near future. They had come out of the gate at the point of Creation.

“This must be just a few minutes before Event Horizon!” Deathpit shouted. “We have to get the Cornerstone of Light!”

They ran as hard as they could, looking anywhere for the glimmer of light. They saw a speck off in the distance, and two figures standing in front of it.

“This could destroy their universe!” shouted one tall man in a black robe.

“They do not have a place here. I want this realm to be one of light!” replied a man in a white robe.

“Think about what you are doing! There is no turning back! You cannot undo what you are about to!” The other shouted.

Freedan and the others kept their distance and tried to identify to the two men. The man in the black robe had rigid features and silver hair that cascaded down his back. The man in white had short black hair and carried a sword.

“That’s eFlare and Boxxle!” Deathpit said. “The creators of this universe!”

“We have to be careful when we open it! Who knows what could leap forth!” Boxxle, the man in black, shouted.

eFlare placed his hand over the orb, and suddenly another man appeared. It was Seifer.

“Who the devil are you?!” Boxxle shouted.

“It’s Seifer!” Joan shouted running up towards him.

Seifer lifted his gunblade and swung at Joan, who dodged it gracefully and fired a crossbow bolt at him. It cut his cheek.

“I’m not going to let you inflict our universe with darkness!” Joan shouted.

Seifer cast a spell, and sealed off the space between him and Joan.

“Very well Fox. If you think you can keep up, be my guest!” Seifer yelled, as he lunged at Joan.

Joan bounced off the energy wall and fired two bolts at Seifer, which he managed to dodge. Seifer blasted Joan’s tail with a fire spell, and she countered it with a weak bolt spell.

“What are they doing?” Boxxle asked.

“They’re fighting, isn’t it obvious,” Deathpit said.

Deathpit then looked over at eFlare. He was standing two feet away from the man who would eventually destroy countless worlds by unleashing the Brainless. His Red Riotz gun quaked furiously, as he thought of how easy it would be to end all the pain of the world.

“Don’t,” a voice in his head whispered. “This must be what Fixy was talking about.”

Joan had managed to stay airborne for most of the battle, and began to chant a summon, but it was cut off by a powerful bolt spell from Seifer.

“Joan!” Freedan shouted.

Joan landed in a heap next to Seifer.

“Is that all you have fox?” Seifer laughed. “Guess you misjudged me, Freedan. Looks like I am a killer after all. And I think I’ll start with fox-lady here.”

Seifer picked up Joan by the hair and placed his sword under her throat.

“That’s enough!” eFlare shouted. eFlare smashed open the cage and sent Seifer flying back. “You will not harm another person in my presence!”

Jason ran up to Joan. “Joan you okay?”

Joan stood up and picked up her crossbow. “That bastard messed up my fur…”

Jason chuckled, then his attention turned to eFlare. eFlare stood in front of Seifer with his sword in hand.

“It’s time you learn of the true might of warriors!” eFlare shouted. “The realm of light will open!”

eFlare placed his hands over the cornerstone. “To all gods and spirits of both light and dark: let your eternal war end at this realm! Bring forth new life, new hope and save us from the fate of nonexistence! I summon you, All Creation!”

The Cornerstone burst with light and the realm suddenly began to quake ferociously. Seifer retreated into a gate.

“Guys,” Deathpit shouted. “I don’t think our mortal bodies can quite handle the stress of the Event Horizon of the universe! Maybe we should split!”

“Right! Fixy get us out of here!” Freedan shouted.

They returned to the Tower of Babel, and the Hall of the Cornerstone was free of darkness.

“Nice work guys,” Fixy said.

“Man. It’s sad to think that one of the creators of the universe could become so evil…” Joan thought.

Valdera cocked her head at this comment. “eFlare, evil? I think you do not quite understand it yet.”

“When will we understand then?” Jason asked.

“When you find the king, Jason Tandro,” Valdera said.

Jason was taken aback. “How do you know my name?”

“I know all of the peoples of the worlds. It is my job. I also know that half of your heart resides within Remus. You will find him soon, and then you will have to decide,” Valdera said.

“Decide on what?” Jason asked.

Valdera said nothing, but turned back to the Cornerstone. “ And old friend of yours needs some help. Head to Hyrule. Only by continuing your journey will the answers show themselves.”

Chapter VII: Hyrule

A short jump from Tower of Babel lay Hyrule, where the now reunited heroes Link and Zelda are having trouble with the Brainless.

“Jeez, things are pretty bad down there. Gannondorf is gone, but the Brainless are tougher than ever!” Deathpit said. “Maybe there is something we can do to ease their pain?”

“Jason, can you man the ship again. Us four will go down and have a look,” Freedan said.

“Oh sure. Jason Tandro can’t handle himself in a fight,” Jason grimaced.

“No, it’s just that after that last one I think you could use a break,” Freedan said. “I offered Joan the same thing, but she insisted on coming.”

“I just wanted to see Link kick some ass again like last time. He agreed to give me some pointers on bow usage… as if I need them,” Joan giggled, baring her fangs.

When they arrived on the planet’s surface, they saw Hyrule Castle being invaded by hordes of Brainless. Link was riding through them on Epona tearing down dozens in single slashes.

“That’s my Link!” Joan laughed. “Let’s give the boy a hand, shall we?”

Joan ran up to a sniping point on the top of a hill and fired several rounds from her crossbow. Deathpit pulled out Red Riotz, which had been transformed into a bow and began firing. Blade casted several powerful spells on the horde and Freedan charged at them with his keyblade.

Link took notice of Freedan and leapt off his horse to assist him.

“Freedan! I am quite glad that you have come. We are in desperate need of aide!” Link said.

“You seemed to be doing quite well. Do you know the source of this flood?” Freedan asked.

“They seem to be spawning from Death Mountain, but the castle’s defenses are weakened at the moment. We need to stay here and defend it,” Link said.

Joan, Blade and Deathpit ran over to Freedan.

“Freedan, a second wave is coming from that mountain!” Joan said.

“I’m almost out of arrows,” Deathpit said.

Freedan thought it over.

“Okay. Link and I will head to the summit. You three stay here and guard the castle,” Freedan turned to Link. “Are there any shortcuts to the top?”

Link pulled out an Ocarina from his satchel. “As a matter of fact, there is.”

Link began to play an eerily beautiful tune and in a flash of crimson light, they appeared in the middle of a huge volcano, surrounded by thousands of Brainless.

“Look over yonder!” Link shouted pointing at the center of the canyon. A wizard in a dark black robe was standing in the center, summoning Brainless.

Freedan leapt across the chasm and tackled the wizard.

“What is this?” The wizard cackled. He leapt up into the air and hovered. He removed his mask. He was an old man with dark eyes and a pale face.

“Who are you?” Link shouted.

“I am Aghanim, one of Gannondorf’s servants. Ultimecia will soon revive him with more power and might then you could ever imagine! Until then, we shall dance!” Aghanim shouted.

Aghanim raised the plateau they stood on higher than the rest. Link and Freedan glanced down over a mile of height and saw that their friends were managing to keep the castle safe.

“Hades, god of the underworld and punisher of the sins of man! Bring forth your most deadly servant, a man who knows no righteousness but only the plague of revenge! I summon you, Kain!” Aghanim shouted.

A man appeared in a black cloak, with a dark scarf over his face. White eyes shown out from beneath his dark hair. He raised his claws in preparation of attack.

“I’ll take on this foe, you stop Aghanim!” Link shouted.

Kain smashed his claws against Link’s sword, but the purity of the Master Sword caused them to burn. Kain leapt back and shrieked in pain.

“This blade will be your end!” Link shouted.

Freedan ran over towards Aghanim.

“Why do you meddle in these affairs keyblade master? I have foreseen the future. There will be a great war between the Brainless and the Soulless. And in that war, the mortals with hearts will have no place,” Aghanim grinned.

“Well then you can just call me heartless!” Freedan shouted as he slashed through Aghanim in a single strike.

Aghanim fell backwards and slipped onto the edge of the plateau.

“Give me your hand!” Freedan shouted.

“What?” Aghanim cursed. “I welcome this death! That is why I wanted to fight you! For you see, my sacrifice means a new life for Gannondorf!”

Aghanim leapt over the side of the plateau into the scorching lava. Kain disappeared with him.

Ultimecia appeared on the plateau. Link raised his sword. “You!”

“Link calm yourself. I come not to battle you now,” Ultimecia said.

Freedan turned. “You want to make him your servant, like Seifer?”

Ultimecia laughed. “No, I only need one puppet to do my bidding. Of course, you are more than welcome to take his place. You’d make a formidable ally, and the things I could teach you…”

Freedan raised his keyblade. “Sure thing. Let’s shake on it.”

Ultimecia laughed even harder. “You wish to fight me, that is quite rich. I’m not even fully restored myself. Would you harm a poor defenseless woman? I come to offer you advice.”

Freedan lowered his keyblade. “What?”

“Organization XIII is manipulating you, whether you know it or not. I want control of Kingdom Smarts and so do they. As such we are not on speaking terms right now. I will aide you in defeating the Organization when the time comes.”
“Then why do you summon these Brainless?” Freedan asked.

“Because only the strongest deserve my aide. Either you will beat all of my former allies, or they will beat you,” Ultimecia grinned.

“So this is a game to you?” Link asked.

“Indeed Link. And don’t worry, I am not here to kidnap your girlfriend again. I just wanted to say hello. And a warning. Beware of gifts bearing strange packages,” Ultimecia said as she disappeared into the corridors of darkness.

“Hey! We did it!” Joan shouted.

“Nice work Freedan,” Blade grinned.

“Thought we were toast there for a minute, but you managed to scare ‘em off. Like always,” Deathpit laughed.

Zelda walked out from the castle and bowed to Freedan and Link. “We are indebted to you both.”

Zelda took Freedan’s right hand. “I want to give you a gift, that will aide you in defeating the darkness at it’s source.”

Freedan’s right hand glowed brightly and the image of the Triforce glowed upon his hand.

“You can’t give me this! This is your worlds light!” Freedan said.

“Then how appropriate that the might of Hyrule should destroy the darkness? It is safe with you keyblade master. When you are blessed with the Triforce, you will become even more a powerful warrior than you are now. I’m sure you will find it useful,” Zelda said.

Freedan and the others knelt before Zelda.

“Thank you, your majesty,” Freedan said.

“I believe the next world you go to is in dire danger. Please help them,” Zelda said.

“We will,” Freedan said. “Thank you for everything.”

With that the party left Hyrule to journey to the next world.

Chapter VIII: Alaska

The Red Riotz soared through space, as the others plotted their next move.

“So I’m confused? Is anybody on our side?” Jason asked.

“Things are just getting stranger. What’s the reading for the next world?” Blade asked.

“Alaska. It’s a new one. Apparently some Brainless thug has gotten a hold of a powerful weapon that could wipe out life on their entire world. It’s a machine called Metal Gear.” Deathpit said.

“So what are they doing about it?” Freedan asked.

“They sent a secret agent of sorts. His codename is Solid Snake and he’s an expert on weapons and infiltration. But we can’t just leave it to him,” Deathpit said.

“True. But if his job is to do a sneaking mission, we shouldn’t take too many down,” Blade said. “I think Deathpit and Freedan should go.”

Deathpit nodded. “Good idea, since they are very technologically advanced. It’ll be guns all the way.”

Freedan leaned back against the ship’s hull. “My keyblade isn’t a gun though…”

“Don’t worry. I bet it’ll change as soon as we get onto the planet’s surface,” Deathpit said patting Freedan’s shoulder. “Come on, it’ll be an adventure!”

Freedan nodded and headed to the teleporter.

The cold Alaskan wind howled. The cyborg entity Chainsaw cursed his luck. His entire body was plated in metal with the exception of the left side of his face.

“So this is where that damned brat and his friends are coming to next?” Chainsaw asked the dark figure behind him.

“I am sure of it. I’ve been observing their actions closely and I now know that they will try to open all of the gates. When the worlds are connected again, they will be able to access the greatest power known to man,” the figure replied.

“So what should we do about this planet? And what about Ultimecia and the Brainless?” Chainsaw asked.

“This planet is ballast. By all means, do as you will with it. Ultimecia is not our concern at the moment. She is definitely a potential threat, however. We must keep an eye on her,” the figure replied.

“Right. I’ll make sure to end it on this planet,” Chainsaw said. He then glanced around him. “Is it true?”

“What?” the figure asked.

“Jason Tandro and Remus? Are they really…?”

“Yes,” the figure said. “Just one of many of the victims of the Soul Schism Phenomena. However Jason’s role in this story will be over soon. Then we will only deal with Freedan.”

Chainsaw laughed. “Yes indeed. That little brat really did beat eFlare’s Brainless, not to mention Ultimecia and her gang.”

“Let’s not forget the others whom he slaughtered. No. Freedan is much more powerful than Jason Tandro, but the difference is a balance. Jason does not possess this when he enters combat, and as such is a more predictable opponent. But Freedan has already proven himself mutable, improvisational and indeed highly skilled.” the figure said. “Take care of Solid Snake. I want him getting no more allies. And if you can capture Metal Gear in the process, do so. A weapon of that calibur might be worth hanging onto.”

“Jeez, it’s friggin’ cold!” Deathpit complained as he leaned against a fence. They had warped out into the middle of giant snowfield. “Who can withstand this kind of temperature?”

“Somebody apparently,” Freedan said. “Look, there’s signs of a sniper battle here.”

Freedan lifted his keyblade, which had become a high powered rifle. Deathpit’s mutli-purpose gun had remained the same.

Deathpit looked at the torn up battlefield. Sniper shells were half-buried in the snow and the few trees were scarred up. “Yeah. They were both skilled SOB’s too. The one defending was slightly more accurate though.”

“That’s amazing,” Freedan said.

“Well, I have a thing for battles. Know everything about them except how to lose,” Deathpit said.

“Maybe we should go inside. We might freeze to death if we don’t,” Freedan said.

“Yeah, plus which I don’t think we’ll find the gate out here. Let’s move,” Deathpit said.

They snuck their way down through a blast furnace, carefully avoiding enemy soldiers that were guarding the area, and managed to make it to a service elevator that took them down to an underground base.

“Hey guys,” Jason called on the radio. “I’m picking up a huge power source coming from the center of that base. It might be Metal Gear.”

Deathpit nodded. “You hear that?”

Freedan listened. Softly, ahead in the distance he heard the sound of gears grinding and bullets flying.

They rushed into the underground base. A huge machine stood in front of them surrounded by various platforms. On the top platform several enemy soldiers were fighting with a man in a black sneaking suit.

“That’s the secret agent they sent,” Deathpit sent.

“Want to lend him a hand?” Freedan asked.

“No need. Take a look at him,” Deathpit said.

Snake blasted through the soldiers with a FAMAS assault rifle.

“Campbell, I need to get out of here, but the soldiers are blocking the only escape route,” Snake cursed on his codec transmitter.

“You might try jumping over the side. If you can bounce off the leg of Metal Gear you shouldn’t be hurt too badly,” Campbell said.

“Right,” Snake said. He lobbed a stun grenade at his opponents and the leapt over the barrier, landing on the machine’s right leg. He then leapt down to the ground as the stun grenade went off, emitting a bright white phosphorus light and explosive bang.
Snake landed in front of Freedan and Deathpit and raised his gun.

“Who are you?” Snake shouted.

“Whoa, easy, we’re friends,” Deathpit said.

“You’re not one of the Genome Soldiers?” Snake asked.

“Do we look like brainless enemies to you?” Freedan asked.

Snake eyed Freedan’s weapon. “That’s some gun you’ve got there. Okay where are you from?”

Freedan eyed Deathpit. Deathpit nodded.

“We’re from Force XXI. I hate to say it, but FOXHOUND’s little operation isn’t quite a secret anymore. The Secretary of Defense wanted some insurance so he sent us out. I’m Deathpit. It’s my codename of course. And this is Freedan, also codename,” Deathpit said.

“Damn… Campbell are you hearing this?” Snake asked.

“Yeah. But how they got there I don’t know,” Campbell said.

Suddenly the machine in front of them began to move.

“What the hell! I thought I deactivated it!” Snake shouted.

“You did!” shouted a dark voice from the machine. “Unfortunately PAL clearance means nothing to those in Organization XIII.”

“Jason who’s this guy?” Freedan asked.

“That’s Chainsaw. He’s a cyborg with computer skill that rivals anyone in our group,” Jason said.

“Now Snake and keyblade master. Prepare to die!” Chainsaw shouted. The machine crashed through the platforms and off ahead into the supply route.

“We have to stop it now!” Snake shouted. “Otacon!”

A high-pitched voice came over the radio. “What is it, Snake?”

“Shut off all the doors out of the supply route, Metal Gear is active!” Snake shouted.

“Metal Gear is active?! No way!” Otacon shouted. “I’ll shut the bulk-head doors, that should buy us a little time.”

“Come on you two! We need to disable it!” Snake shouted.

“What about your Stinger’s?” Deathpit asked pointing at the rocket launcher draped over Snake’s shoulder.

“Yeah, two shots and then the launcher is useless. We need to make them count,” Snake said. “And by the way. It’s pretty obvious you two aren’t from Force XXI.”

“What makes you say that?” Freedan asked.

“Force XXI is a military organization that has nothing to do with secret naval ops and they certainly wouldn’t trounce in FOXHOUND’s territory. It’s the kind of thing a visitor from another world would look at and try to make a cheap excuse out of…” Snake said.

“Clever boy,” Deathpit said. “But now what?”

“You have a vessel don’t you?” Snake asked.

“Yeah, but it’s just a transport ship,” Freedan said.

“No, wait!” Deathpit exclaimed. “We’ll transform it into AGWS mode! Then we can take on Metal Gear!”

“Good idea. We do that and you, Snake, need to hit the cockpit when we give the word, okay?” Freedan asked.

“Right!” Snake said.

Red Riotz crashed into the base in AGWS form. It was a giant bipedal robot, similar to Metal Gear.

“Somebody order a ride?” Jason shouted. “Deathpit, get up here, I can’t pilot this in AGWS mode.”

Deathpit and Freedan beamed aboard the ship and began to chase after Metal Gear. Snake hopped in a jeep behind them and drove towards the supply route.

They entered a large elevator to the surface where Metal Gear was boarding. They were greeted with a salvo of missiles that hit Snake’s jeep. Snake managed to jump out in time, but just barely.

“So you’re going to take me on with that AGWS unit of yours, eh? I guess it’s better than nothing, but it’s still a foolish choice. Now I’ll unload all of my missile at once! Farewell keyblade master!”

“Snake now!” Freedan shouted. Red Riotz pinned Metal Gear against the wall and crashed it’s radome. The cockpit opened up.

“What? No!!!” Chainsaw shouted. Snake fired his Stinger missile at it crashed into the cockpit. Metal Gear exploded in a ball of fire and metal.

Chainsaw, however, managed to evade it by ejecting himself from the cockpit. “Well now, that’s an interesting little game you’re playing at. No matter. I will find another way to take over this world! You wait and see!”

Chainsaw teleported away from the battlefield.

“Damn. I would really have liked to kill that bastard,” Snake said.

Freedan stepped out of the cockpit of the Red Riotz and looked at the door to the supply route. A large keyhole was embedded in the side. He opened the gate.

“Well I guess this is goodbye for now,” Freedan said. “We’ve got other worlds to go help.”

“Yeah. I guess so,” Snake said. “I’ve still gotta find Meryl and see what became of Liquid and Gray Fox.”

Deathpit scratched his head. “Who, who and who?”

“Long story and I’m sure a boring one. You’re needed elsewhere,” Snake said.

“Right,” Freedan said. “Let’s go.”

“Where to now?” Freedan asked.

“Well, Jason saw a familiar planet about 2 c’s from here. Kyoto,” Deathpit said.

“Oh yeah. I wonder how Kenshin and his group are doing?” Joan asked.

“Well they’re having some trouble with the Brainless,” Deathpit said.

“You mean Seifer and Ultimecia?” Blade asked.

“Yeah. Also, at about the same distance is Springfield. Things have pretty much gone back to normal, but those damned aliens Kang and Kodos are back,” Deathpit said.

“Hmm. Okay. Let’s hit Kyoto first, then head to Springfield,” Freedan said.

Chapter IX: Kyoto

Things had settled down in Kyoto and Kenshin and his party began their journey back to their hometown of Tokyo.

“So when we get back I guess it’ll be more beef stew. A hero’s welcome, right Kenshin?” Sanosuke asked.

“I hope you don’t eat too much Sanno,” Kenshin laughed.

“Hey a warrior’s gotta have a big appetite, isn’t that right Yahiko?” Sanosuke laughed patting Yahiko on the shoulder.

“Hey, let’s not forget that some of us pride ourselves in not eating like pigs,” Yahiko laughed batting away Sanosuke’s hand.

“Well, what about the missus, then?” Sanosuke asked.

Kaoru laughed. “Well Sanosuke, as long as you pay out of your OWN pocket, eat to your hearts content.”

Suddenly four large beams of light appeared in front of them.

“What the heck?” Sanosuke shouted placing his arms in front of Kaoru and Yahiko.

Freedan, Blade, Deathpit, and Joan stood in front of them, dressed in kimonos for the occasion.

“Freedan, Blade, Deathpit, Joan!” Kenshin smiled. “I felt we might be getting a visit from you soon.”

“It’s good to be back,” Joan laughed. “Things look pretty well here.”

“Maybe so, but I’m getting a reading of Brainless here.,” Deathpit said.

“Oh more baddies huh? I thought we got rid of them?” Sanosuke asked.

“You can’t completely eliminate them it seems,” Freedan said.

“Hey, this reading is close!” Deathpit said. “They’re here!”

Kenshin turned and saw a horde of black monsters. “Sanno!”

Seifer leapt down from one of the bamboo trees.

“Sorry to keep you guys waiting,” Seifer laughed. “I’ve grown so rude with familiarity.”

“Who’s this thug?” Sanno asked.

“That’s Seifer. The puppet of Ultimecia, like these Brainless,” Joan said. “Pay him no mind.”

“My my Joan. I think I like that kimono on you better than that thick fur coat of yours. Maybe we should get together some time,” Seifer laughed.

“No thanks, you’re not my type. I don’t date scumbags,” Joan said.

“Well then. I guess we were destined to fight after all,” Seifer said. “Care for a rematch?”

“Oh, you’re on!” Joan shouted.

Joan drew her twin kodachi from her kimono and leapt at Seifer. Seifer blocked her first wave of attacks with his gunblade. Joan bounced against a tree and rushed down at Seifer. Joan’s attacks matched every one of Seifer’s, and the two warriors clashed in perfect unison.

“Man, that chick’s good,” Sanosuke said.

“Such a skilled warrior,” Kaoru said.

“Trust me, if anybody wants to take down Seifer, it’s Joan,” Blade said.

Seifer leapt away from Joan. “Well, you’ve improved a great deal. Enough to make this fun, I think.”

Seifer raised his hands in the air. A large blade of darkness appeared in his hand. It was identical to the one that Axe had used before.

“You know where Axe is?” Joan asked.

“Oh, you hadn’t heard. He was trapped in the dark realm with Boxxle, but they managed to get out. It’s quite an epic. If you survive this fight, you should ask that fool Boxxle about it sometime,” Seifer said.

“He’s messing with you, don’t let him get you down!” Sanosuke said.

“Not against that weapon I can’t,” Joan said. “That is a blade of pure darkness. It will cut straight through my blades.”

“Giving up?” Seifer asked.

“You want to cheat? I can too!” Joan said. “Kenshin, could I get a hand?”

“Tag team huh?” Seifer said. “Very well.”

Seifer raised his dark blade in the air. “I’ll call forth a dark warrior unlike any you’ve ever faced. Prepare to meet the greatest warrior ever known to man! Hades god of the underworld, I commend your power over all time and the souls lost in your black depths, bring forth the greatest knight of darkness! I summon you, Sephiroth!”

A man in black appeared next to Seifer. He had long white hair and carried a massive katana.

“Who has summoned me from the depths?” Sephiroth asked. “Was it Wrath? Or Ultimecia? Which path of darkness requires my aide?”

“You are most welcome to join our cause,” Seifer said.

“You must be Ultimceia’s lapdog then,” Sephiroth said.

Seifer stomped his foot. “Hey!”

“Stand back. I refuse to fight with amateurs. I will take them both on. Tell Ultimecia to observe this!” Sephiroth said.

“Who are you?” Kenshin asked.

“I am a warrior who has surpassed the darkness. I am a knight of darkness in the line of Golbez, X-Death, and Kefka. I was born to serve the darkness. Of the knights of Darkness I was the seventh. Seifer was the eighth, but he still has a long way to go. But I have seen the future, and none will surpass me, ever!”

Sephiroth slashed his Masamune in on strike that sent Kenshin and Joan flying back.

“We’ve got a problem!” Freedan shouted.

“Keyblade master. Would you care to join me?” Sephiroth asked. “You are the only one who can undo me that still lives. Cloud has joined the depths of obscurity, although not by my hand. Maybe his strength rests within you.”

“Yeah, his and all the others destroyed by the darkness!” Freedan shouted. The emblem of the Triforce on Freedan’s hand glowed brightly. “Stand back!”

The Triforce flashed through Freedan’s body. Freedan’s armor glowed brightly.

“So this is the power you have summoned. The Triforce?” Sephiroth asked. “Formidable, and an excellent choice. But you cannot defeat me!”

Freedan rushed up to Sephiroth and crashed against his sword. Sephiroth met his sword strokes with expert ease and then pushed Freedan back.

“You still do not have enough strength to challenge me. I am off to revive the other knights of darkness. We will then construct our Dreadnaught, the Giant of Babel,” Sephiroth said. “When that time comes, we will fight again.”

Seifer gasped. “You mean… you can recreate the Giant of Babel?”

“Ultimecia tried, but never succeded. Kuja who will come after you will try and he will fail. The only warrior who ever succeeded was Golbez, although he required the help of Zemus,” Sephiroth said.

“But by doing that you will revive the Dawn Warriors! Cecil, Bartz, Locke!” Seifer said. “Aren’t they all trapped there?”

“Cecil perhaps, but the others have been disposed off. The only way I can be defeated is by Cloud’s hand. And he will not be in that Giant,” Sephiroth said. “Until then, Keyblade master.”

Sephiroth disappeared and the Brainless with him. Seifer cursed and then retreated.

“What was that all about?” Sanosuke asked.

“I’m not sure. Take care of things here,” Freedan said. “We need to hurry up and connect all the worlds.”

A large keyhole appeared in the sky above them. Freedan opened the gate.

“That was freakin’ weird…” Deathpit said. “ Knights of Darkness? Dawn Warriors? Giant of Babel?”

“They refer to those who came before you,” came a voice. Master Gaignum appeared on the screen in front of them.

“Gaignum! We were worried, we thought that the Foundation had been destroyed!” Blade said.

“Actually, it was engulfed in darkness,” Gaignum said. “But the Durandal and the Elsa managed to escape in time.”

“Well at least there is that,” Freedan said.

“Sephiroth is a demon. He is the seventh Knight of Darkness, a group of men who have served the darkness. Darkness has presented itself in many forms. The most treacherous was when it appeared as a great demon ship run by the darkness in the form known as Zemus. Dawn Warriors are those who have always defeated the knights of darkness. Cecil brought down the warrior Golbez and defeated Zemus. Bartz defeated X-Death and the darkness of Neo-XDeath. Locke and Terra defeated Kefka and the darkness that he wrought.

“But Sephiroth was a special case. Sephiroth was the literal son of darkness, borne when Darkness wrought itself as JENOVA. The Dawn Warrior Cloud was able to defeat him only because he had been born the same way. Cloud and Sephiroth were the first beings affected by the phenomena known as Soul Schism, where a being’s soul is divided. Cloud was the light half of his soul and Sephiroth the dark.”

Jason eyed Gaignum.

“Yes, Jason. It has happened to others besides yourself,” Gaignum said.

Everybody turned to Jason. Jason said nothing.

“In any case,” Gaignum continued. “Seifer is the eighth in the line of Knights of Darkness Ultimecia is not the darkness’ most potent form, as a matter of fact, a being much greater hides itself within Kingdom Smarts.”

“You mean eFlare?” Freedan asked.

“eFlare’s Brainless, whom you defeated,” Gaignum said. “The REAL eFlare still exists somewhere, trying to combat this evil along with Boxxle.”

“I was wondering about that,” Blade said.

“The Giant of Babel is classified as a Dreadnaught, the most powerful type of vessel imaginable. It’s destructive capabilities far outstrip those of the ARK space station. When the Creation Cannon is fired at full capacity, it can destroy entire galaxies. Why Sephiroth would want to recreate it is obvious, but how he will do it is a mystery. Such power hasn’t been seen since the decline of the material Adamanite.” Gaignum said.

“What do we do?” Freedan asked.

“Finish connecting the worlds for starters. I’m heading to Ultimecia’s Castle. I want to talk to Aoiga and Fixy.” Gaignum said.

“Right,” Deathpit said. “Let’s go!”

Chapter X: Springfield

Red Riotz soared through interspace towards Springfield. A large vessel appeared in front of them on the NavMap.

“That’s Kang and Kodos’ ship. It’s a mother of a flying saucer too. Should we engage it?” Deathpit asked.

“No, our first priority is making sure Homer and the others are safe,” Freedan said.

Joan smiled.

“What is it Joan?” Freedan asked.

“You know, since we first met way back at 3-Mile Islands, you’ve become quite the leader,” Joan laughed.

“You think so?” Freedan asked.

“You’ve certainly got a lot on your mind, but you don’t let that interfere with your responsibilities,” Joan said.

Freedan hung his head.

“Don’t worry. I’m sure Raini and Axe are safe, wherever they are,” Joan said.

They landed in Springfield, to see utter chaos. The alien ship was wreaking havoc upon Springfield. Homer had just pulled in and shut his door. Bart skateboarded over the top and Lisa rode her bike into the garage. Homer let out a “D’oh!” and then screamed as Marge (with Maggie in tow) drove into and chased Homer into the garage. They all sat around the couch, where Freedan, Deathpit and Blade stood.

“How ya doing, good to have you back, down in front,” Homer said.

“Your planet’s in danger,” Freedan said.

“Well I don’t know. Those aliens managed to since my hair into this attractive new style,” Marge said (her hair had in fact been burnt down to about an inch shorter than before).

“Yeah, and Mayor Quimby called a state of emergency, so now we don’t have to go to school!” Bart said. “Of course, Lisa is freakin’ out.”

“I am not. Just because I sit at my desk in my room from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with a paper, pencil and recording of a teacher saying: ‘Is that gum?’ over and over does not mean I have a problem,” Lisa said.

Freedan’s team rolled their eyes.

“Oh yeah, like you people never did crazy stuff like that?” Lisa asked.

“So anyways,” Freedan said. “Homer we would appreciate if you could take us to see Professor Frink.”

“Pfft,” Homer said. “I would, but I’m too drunk to drive.”

“Homer you haven’t had any beer yet,” Marge said.

“Well why not! As the pant’s wearer in the family I should be able to come home from a hard day of almost being killed by aliens and working for Mr. Burns and at least get drunk of my ass. And you wonder why I go to Moe’s,.” Homer said.

“If your gonna call yourself that, could you at least wear some pants?” Marge asked.

“Sheez Marge, we’re not at church,” Homer said.

“Wait, did you say Mr. Burns?” Deathpit asked. “I thought we hosed that guy!”

“Yeah, he said something about being revived by Ultima-whatchamacallit and something about inviting aliens to blow up our town, something about ‘confound it all Smithers, why do we have to let them have a dental plan’, and I forget the rest. Ask Carl, he’s my supervisor,” Homer said.

“Well we better get going to the power plant then. But I’d rather not fly Red Riotz over there,” Freedan said.

“Ask Godboy across the way to give you a ride,” Homer said.

“Well you want a ride to the power plant? No pro-diddly-oblem,” Ned said. “Take my keys, and have my car. We’re gonna seal ourselves in the bomb shelter and not come out until the lord asks us too.”

“Yay!” Rod and Todd said. They started to sing “Onward Christian Soldiers” and went in the bomb shelter.

“You know, you have to admire their naïve brainless faith in the face of such obvious destruction,” Homer said.

“Homer, I think it’s good they have such trust in God!” Marge said.

“Pfft, what has he done for me lately?” Homer said.

Deathpit rode Flander’s Sedan to the Power Plant. They got out and walked into the building.

“The stairs are messed up. Let’s take the elevator,” Blade said.

They entered the elevator where they saw Smithers and Mr. Burns.

“Well that’s convienient,” Blade said.

“Ah indeed. Perhaps you’d like to try on my new dark powers?” Mr. Burns asked. He cast a powerful fire spell at Blade, who managed to block it with a magic shield spell.

“Well, Mr. Burns is still getting used to using magic you see,” Smithers said. “It wears him out after a period of time.”

“Mr. Burns, why do you keep working with Ultimecia?” Freedan asked.

“Oh the woman is so inscrupulous, just like me,” Burns said. “Perhaps I really have been on the wrong side all this time. On the other side, I do like being evil. Smithers tell those alien blokes to blow up this whole city.”

“Can do, Sir,” Smithers said.

Jason piloted the Red Riotz into the Power Plant. “Freedan get on! The ship has already started generating it’s phase cannon! We have to stop it!”

They soared into interspace and shot several rounds into the hull of the alien spaceship. The landed in the main control room.

“Kang, look. It’s the keyblade master and his friends,” Kodos said.

“Excellent,” came Burns’s voice as he warped onboard with Smithers. “You take them on, won’t you. Teleportation always leaves me gasping for air.”

Freedan’s Triforce glowed brightly.

“What is that?” Kodos asked.

“The light of the Triforce!” Kang shouted. “Let’s dump them and get out of here!”

The aliens ejected the Red Riotz, and the others onto the planet and fled.

They landed back in Burn’s Office.

Burns picked himself up. “Well that was unexpeceted. Let’s do this for real!”

Smiters stood in front of Burns and began to summon. “Orcris, god of the dark and powerful ruler of the dimension in between space and time, I summon your most deviant shadows to take on these foes! I summon you, Evil King Stan!”

Smither’s Shadow grew large and took the form of a dark minion with an obnoxious smile.

“So these guys are the losers you want me to can?” Stan said.

“Yes please!” Smithers said.

Freedan dueled Smithers. Stan used his dark powers to improve Smither’s strength. Smithers metal armor managed to reflect most of his attacks.

“You can’t beat me Freedan!” Smithers said.

“No, but we can!” Blade shouted.

A similar energy, one that Freedan remembered from long ago. The strength inside the warriors that had overcome the darkness before.

“Trinity!” Freedan, Blade and Deathpit shouted. A bright white light engulfed Smithers, Stan and Burns, destroying them.

Gaignum watched them from the Durandal. “So they have fully recovered. They are the Dawn Warriors.”

“Are you sure?” Jr. asked.

“Positive. There is only one world left to be connected, and it is one fraught with peril,” Gaignum said.

“Well what now?” Freedan asked. “I can remember everything except how we ended up in Twilight Town.”

“Well, my Nav Map shows that all the worlds have been connected except this one outlying one called Spira. Eggman is actually on his way there with the Ark Space Station. Wanna rendevous with him?” Deathpit asked.

“Yeah. Let’s hurry up and connect the worlds. I want to figure out what’s going on with the others back at Ultimecia’s Castle,” Freedan said.

Chapter XI: Spira

Red Riotz was hovering above the planet’s surface when a hail came in.

“This is Red Riotz attack cruiser. Who’s calling?” Deathpit asked.

“This is Cid of the Al Bhed Airship ‘Flying Home’ requesting assistance,” a gruff voice came.

“Copy that Cid, what can we do for ya?” Deathpit asked.

“Err, it’s kinda complicated. Can we meet you at a neutral point and discuss it face to face?” Cid asked.

“Roger that. I’m picking up some nice flat terrain at coordinates X56-Y73-Z-05, you copy?” Deathpit asked.

“10-4! We’ll meet ya there!” Cid said.

The two ships ran side by side and landed on the fertile terrain. A large group of persons stepped out.

“That’s a lot of people for a ship that size,” Deathpit said.

“Might be a passenger vessel,” Blade said. “Well, let’s not keep them waiting. Everyone, out.”

Freedan stepped out first, Blade and Deathpit followed, and Jason and Joan went last.

“Okay, this is everybody,” Freedan said. “I’m Freedan, Captain of the Red Riotz. This is Blade our Navigator, Deathpit our Pilot, and Jason our Engineer. The girl is Joan. She doesn’t really have a title, but we couldn’t have gotten this far without her.”

“Yeah, why don’t I have a title?” Joan asked.

“Hey, I’m Navigator, but Deathpit does all the work. Wanna trade jobs?” Blade asked.

“And the ship never really needs repairs,” Jason said.

Freedan sunk his head. “So much for trying to seem professional.”

Cid walked up to Freedan and shook his hand. “I’m Cid. The guy with the moptop is our navigator and the Mohawk is our pilot. These seven,” Cid pointed to a group of warriors that stood beside him. “Are the guys who are trying to save to world.”

The man in front had short blonde hair. He wore a strange sports outfit and carried a sword. The woman behind him had short brown hair and wore a long dress. She carried a rod.

“Those two are Tidus and Yuna,” Joan said, pulling out her Name-O-Scan Mark II.

There was a man with spikey red hair wearing an outfit similar to Tidus. Next to him was a woman with dark hair, gothic makeup and a long black dress.

“Wakka and Lulu,” Joan said.

There was a tall lion-man carrying a spear, and a slightly shorter man with short black hair who wore a red coat and carried a long katana.

“Kimarhi and Auron,” Joan said.

The last woman was a young teenage girl with blonde hair wearing a strange part mechanical outfit.

“That’s Rikku!” Joan said. Joan ran over to Rikku. “Rikku! Long time no see!”

Rikku laughed. “Hey! Joan what have you been up to?”

Deathpit shook his head. “Seems she knows everybody…”

“Wonder who this acquaintance is,” Blade said.

“I met Rikku before. We hung out for a little while after the great battle that ended it all last time. That’s why this place looked familiar!” Joan said. “Rikku is the best when it comes to mechanical stuff.”

“Hey come on fox-girl, you’re embarrassing me!” Rikku said.

“They’re a perfect couple…” Freedan noted.

“With respect, this isn’t the time to be chatting merrily with old friends. We still have Sin to take care of,” Auron said.

“Sin?” Jason asked. “That can take a while.”

“Not ‘sin’ the flaw of man; ‘Sin’ the giant ass behemoth that threatens to destroy this world,” Cid said.

Tidus walked up to Freedan. “You mean to tell me you guys don’t know about Sin?”

“They might be from another world,” Lulu observed. “By the looks of their vessel, I would say so.”

“Maybe you should explain what Sin is first, then tell us your plans to beat it,” Freedan said.

“Sin is a summon,” Yuna said. “A summoned monster unlike any other. I until recently, trained as a summoner to defeat it with the Final Summon.”

“Fighting summons with summons. A good strategy, but something tells me it didn’t work,” Blade said.

“Well no,” Yuna said. “The truth is the only way to defeat Sin is to destroy the summoner Yu Yevon, who sleeps inside Sin.”

“And what makes it worse,” Tidus added. “Is that even if Sin is defeated with the Final Summon, Yu Yevon will simply possess the new summon and turn it into sin. The last time this happened… my father was the final summon.”

“You mean this planet possesses the magical capabilities for anthromutagenic summoning?” Blade asked.

“Yo Blade, in English please,” Deathpit said.

“They possess the power to turn human beings into summoned monsters. That is a sign of a highly magically advanced planet,” Blade said.

“Human summons?” Freedan asked.

“The last time we saw it, was when Seifer summoned Sephiroth. In this manner, one can attain immortality, but at a price. They only live, when called upon, like prisoners,” Blade said.

“Our plan is to enter Sin with our airship and defeat Yu Yevon. We need to you to keep Sin busy while we launch our attack,” Auron said.

“Very well. We will allow you safe passage then come in behind ya!” Deathpit said.

“We can’t ask you to do that much for us!” Yuna said.

“That much for ya?” Deathpit asked. “It’s the only condition that we’ll do it under. You’re gonna see some action, so are we dammit!”

Yuna smiled and bowed. “Thank you very much.”

“Eggman’s ship is inbound, by the way. Wanna ask for cover fire?” Jason asked.

“Nah, it’d only ruin the moment!” Deathpit grinned. “Tell him to wait and we’ll come talk to him in a minute!”

The Red Riotz sailed just behind the Flying Home. They approached a large dark monster.

“Yeah, that’s a damned impressive summon alright,” Blade said quaking in fear. “I’d hate to meet the summoner.”

“Either way, we’re taking him down!” Deathpit said. “Red Riotz’ll sail to the front and open fire with all phase cannons and plasma rifles!”

“Okay, Joan, Jason, prepare to open fire on my mark!” Freedan shouted.

“In range, Cap’n!” Deathpit shouted.

“Roger! Take him out!” Freedan shouted.

“Aye Cap’n!” Jason and Joan said firing on the massive beast.

“Deathpit keep this ship steady,” Blade said. “I’ve got an idea.”

“Sure thing, but I think we’re doing okay anyway,” Deathpit said.

The Red Riotz fire tore through Sin’s armor, but Sin retaliated with a large phase cannon.

“Flying Home, evade! Red Riotz’s shield will absorb that damage and make way for your entry,” Freedan said.

“Affirmative Red Riotz. We found a weakpoint on his arms. Try aiming for them!” Cid said.

“Roger that. Fire crew, you hear that? Aim for the glowing nodes on it’s arms!” Freedan said.
Blade went out to the top of the Red Riotz. “Flying Home, I have a strategy to take out that shield, but I need two powerful mages to assist. Send them to the deck of Flying Home immediately and keep it steady because I’m boarding!”

With that Blade leapt over to the Flying Home and lifted his staff. Lulu and Yuna met him on the cabin.

“Ladies, this is gonna take every ounce of magical skill you have. We need to summon the forbidden spell to outdo this foe,” Blade said.

“Forbidden Spell?” Lulu asked. “You don’t mean..?”

“Yes. The Doomsday Spell. It hasn’t been used in 1000 years, but it should work on this foe. Yuna, you chant the summon. Lulu and I will act as conduits,” Blade said.

“Why am I the one to summon this?” Yuna asked.

“Because I’m an all around mage. I’m sure if it came to a battle of summons you’d win and a battle of spells Lulu would win. Only you can do this,” Blade said.

“Flying Home this is Red Riotz, the shield won’t fall to our weapons and we’re getting awfully close. Prepare to abort approach!” Deathpit said.

Yuna, Lulu and Blade formed a triangle.

“Rhea, goddess of creation and giver of all life: Orion, god of the sun and granter of bounty: Hades god of the underworld and master of forgotten souls. Let your eternal struggle rend itself upon this planet. I grant you a place for destructive warfare. I offer this planet as a sacrifice…” Yuna began to quiver.

“You have to finish it Yuna! It’ll hurt, but it won’t destroy this planet! It’s the only way that you can stop Sin!” Blade said.

“…for your wrath, even though we are not worthy to witness the glory…”

“Yuna! Now! We have no other choice!” Lulu said.

“I summon you, Doomsday!” Yuna said.

The three gods clashed in the sky above them and sent a large dark orb hurling towards the planet. It crashed into Sin.

“Flying Home, what the hell was that?” Deathpit asked. “The shield has been obliterated and Sin is a sitting duck. Engage target now! We’ll fall in behind you!”

“Roger that!” Cid said.

Flying Home burst into Sin and Red Riotz went behind them. They landed in front of a large tower of darkness.

“Yu Yevon lies ahead,” Yuna said, stepping out of the Flying Home.

“Ahh, that he does,” came a dark voice. Seifer walked up to them. “Too bad I got here first. “I’ve already taken care that fool Seymour and Braska’s final summon.”

“You mean?” Tidus asked.

“Yeah. If you wanted to say goodbye to daddy, I’m sorry. Yu Yevon has been using my summon as the source of it’s power for a while now,” Seifer said.

“You mean?!” Freedan asked.

“Ultimecia said that it was the only way I could stop you!” Seifer said. “I guess it’ll have to be this way now, won’t it!”

Freedan beat his fist against the ground.

“I tried to save you,” Freedan said. “Every step of the way. I tried to stop you, but now the only choice is to kill you.”

“Hah! You think it will be easy?” Seifer asked.

“Damn it Seifer! Squall and Rinoa are in Ultimecia’s Castle! They’ve been waiting there all along. As part of the restoration committee!” Freedan said.

Seifer’s smirk dropped into a quiver of sorrow. His eyes went cold. His arms began to shake.

“All along?” Seifer asked. “Then the only chance I have to ever see them again… is to destroy you all.”

“Seifer. It will never happen! Let me save you. Lead me to Yu Yevon!” Freedan said.

“Hehe… save me? I only wanted to see Squall and Rinoa again so I could kill them!” Seifer said.

“Seifer! That’s not you talking! That’s the darkness! Fight it!” Tidus shouted.

Ultimecia appeared beside Seifer. “Something has come up, Seifer. I will need your help after all. Yu Yevon leave this man. Fight these fools.”

“You never told him? You old hag!” Joan shouted.

“I did not know, and that is what has come up,” Ultimecia said.

“What are you talking about?” Freedan asked.

“My castle is under attack by a swarm of the Soulless and Heartless. Things have gone out of control there!” Ultimecia said. “Defeat Yu Yevon, as I know you will, and then hurry back to the castle!”

“You want our help?” Freedan asked.

Ultimecia turned her head away, carrying Seifer. “I am sorry.”

She disappeared into the darkness and in her wake was a glyph rune.

“Wait a minute? This glyph is a summon?” Blade asked. “No! The summoner!”

“That’s Yu Yevon?” Lulu asked.

Blade stepped back. “How can we possibly outstrip this one?”

“We can’t give up now!” Freedan said.

“You’re right!” Auron said. “We have to destroy it now!”

Tidus walked out in front of Yu Yevon. “Guys. I have to say this now. This is the last battle I’ll have fighting with you guys. After that.. I’ll disappear.”

“What are you saying?” Yuna asked.

“I’m a dream of the fayth, Yuna. A dream that was meant to fade a long time ago. I’m sorry, but this is the end of my story,” Tidus said.

“I’ll be with you Tidus,” Auron said.

“Not you too, Sir Auron?” Yuna said.

“I am an unsent one, Yuna. You knew that all along, but could never accept it,” Auron said.

“Guys, I know how emotional goodbyes can be, but can we save it until after this behemoth is beaten!” Blade shouted.

Freedan rushed at the glyph with his keyblade. “If we defeat this monster then we can connect the final world! Let’s finish this already!”

Freedan used his Triforce ability and tore through Yu Yevon in one powerful strike. Blade, Lulu and Yuna hammered the monster with magic. Auron, Kimahri, Wakka and Deathpit took care of the heavy attacks. Rikku distracted Yu Yevon with numerous machina weapons. Joan and Jason attacked Yu Yevon from behind.

“Let’s end this now!” Freedan shouted.

Deathpit, Blade and Freedan lined up in front of Yu Yevon. “TRINITY!”

Yu Yevon was engulfed in a bright white light and erupted.

“Good job. It’s time Yuna. Send me,” Auron said. “Tidus: Jecht, Braska and myself will be waiting for you. Don’t fear the end, because death is the just beginning, as I have found out. Freedan, Blade, Deathpit, Joan and Jason. You all have an incredible talent. Don’t let it go to waste.”

Auron disappeared in a flurry of pyre flies.

“You have to go too now don’t you?” Yuna said, tears in her eyes.

“Yuna. The fayth have been dreaming for so long now. Don’t worry. I know this isn’t the end,” Tidus said. “We’ll see each other again, okay. I promise.”

Tidus walked into the darkness.

“I’ll be waiting for you!” Yuna shouted. “I love you!”

Tidus turned. “I love you, Yuna.” He disappeared into the blackness.

“Well I guess this is goodbye for now,” Freedan said. “We’ll come back and pay you a visit sometime.”

“Okay then,” Yuna said. “Thank you for saving our world.”

“I heard that all the worlds had been connected and came running,” came a voice.

Eggman walked over to Freedan. He had beamed down from ARK.

“Eggman, nice to see you,” Freedan said.

“Nice indeed. We’ve managed to subdue the enemy attack on our castle, but there is a problem. We need to hurry up and find the Soulless homeworld if we are going to stop this chaos!” Eggman said.

“You sound like you’ve found something,” Blade said.

“Indeed I have. Something quite remarkable in fact,” Eggman said. “We’ve found the computer that eFlare was using. Not his Brainless mind you, but the real eFlare!”

“And that would have this information, why?” Blade asked.

“It may not, but it’s a starting point. You should check it out, because it’s linked to a program known as Fragment, which has periodically updated itself,” Eggman said.

“You must be talking about ‘The World’, right?” Freedan asked.

“Yes. Although quite a bit has changed,” Eggman said. “You should hurry! Things are growing quite dire indeed.”

Chapter XII: The World

Red Riotz landed in the newly reconstructed Ultimecia Castle Hangar. A familiar ship hand landed nearby… the Elsa.

“Well I’ll be. Looks like that dog Captain Mattthews has got it together. Let’s go say hello,” Deathpit said.

They stepped outside to see Shion, KOS-MOS, Captain Matthews, and Master Gaignum.

“Master Gaignum, where’s the Durandal?” Blade asked.

“It’s a bit too big to park in the Hangar, so I left in orbit for the time being. Same thing with ARK space station,” Gaignum said.

“We must hurry to the computer room,” KOS-MOS said. “The enemy will be regrouping soon and launch a second attack.”

“Aww now,” Joan said. “Try to sound a little less formal. Say something along the lines of ‘Let’s get to work!’ or something!”

KOS-MOS nodded.

“Either way you have a point. I’m sure Aoiga can take us there,” Gaignum said.

Aoiga and Fixy walked into the Hangar.

“Yeah, Squall should be waiting for us. He’s managed to find a way to break into the server, but it’ll take some effort. We need people with technical skill,” Fixy said.

“I’m thinking KOS-MOS might be able to help us there, “ Captain Matthews said.

“I’ll try to find Keather in this mess, see what he’s up to,” Jason said.

“Okay, everybody meet at the computer room inside the castle postern,” Freedan said.

Jason walked down the city streets. “If I was Keather, where would I be wallowing my time away?”

Jason turned a corner and heard a gun cock behind him. He laughed.

“Still think you’re the fastest in the west, eh Keather?” Jason asked.

Keather retracted his gun-claw and walked around to the front of Jason. “Well at least I know not to talk to myself.”

“We need a hand,” Jason said.

“No kidding. Well my talented fingers happen to be among the best at many things, but what in particular do you need help with?” Keather asked.

“Computer hacking. I thought you were an expert,” Jason said.

“Yeah, I am. But what about you, things have changed. You don’t seem to be utilizing your full power. Your so-called ‘faster-than-time’ travel, as Clara named it. Your warrior’s wit. Only part of you has been restored,” Keather said.

“I’m saving what fight I have in me for Remus,” Jason said.

Keather turned away from Jason. “Oh, I see. You know. I heard that Kaos, Kyle, Chainsaw, and Wrath also still live. Did you have a plan for them?”

“Wrath is Freedan’s responsibility. As for the others, I will deal with them as needed,” Jason said.

“Jason thing’s have changed. You’re not a one man army anymore. This keyblade master, Freedan. Even he needs help sometimes. Don’t go thinking you have to fight alone all the time,” Keather said. “It’s not what Clara would want.”

Jason walked ahead of Keather. “You’re needed at the castle postern.”

“Where are you going?” Keather asked.

Jason just walked onward.

He made it halfway down into the bailey when a man appeared in front of him. He wore all black and had short black hair.

“Kaos?” Jason asked. “Remus’s lapdog of a son…”

“Yeah. I’ve been told to take care of you before our next attack. Remus doesn’t want to deal with you,” Kaos said.

Jason lifted Fusion. “Well then, he shouldn’t show up.”

Jason ran towards Kaos and their blades met with an electrifying clash.

“What about saving your precious Clara?” Kaos asked. “Remus knows where she is! And the only way you’ll save her is to surrender to him!”

Jason continued his attack and his scar glowed brightly. “Then I guess she’s dead!”

Jason disappeared in a blur of light. Kaos looked around him trying to find out where he went when he felt a spear in his side. Then not a second later another spear hit him in the chest, then again in the shoulder and once more in the head. All this took place in the course of one second, before Jason dealt the final blow.

Kaos fell to the ground. “So… this is what you are capable of. Well then, I’m sure Remus will not be disappointed.”

“What do you mean?” Jason asked.

“Remus wants to fight you one last time. No keyblades, no spells, no time alterations. One final fight in the middle of the greatest battlefield. He’ll bring Clara with him, so be ready for the attack,” Kaos said. With those final words he disappeared in a flash of light.

“Kaos attacked you?” Joan asked.

“Yeah, but he was no match for me,” Jason said.

“Alright, alright,” Gaignum said. “So Kaos is defeated?”

“Well, it would seem that way. But the foes we’ve yet to face are far more powerful. Chainsaw, Wrath and Remus,” Jason said. “They are the strongest of the XIII.”

“In otherwords, no time to waste. If they really are planning to start another attack on this place we have to hurry and get the info we need,” Freedan said. “KOS-MOS, get us online, Keather give her a hand. Everybody who’s going in with me, get geared up.”

Deathpit, Blade and Freedan stood in front of the computer and put on the three visors that sat on the console.

“You two, navigate alright?” Freedan asked.

“Right,” Keather said.

“Affirmative,” KOS-MOS replied.

“Ugh, we’ve got sooo much work to do,” Joan said.

The World was much like they’d remembered it. It was an open place with lots of people. But something was not right. The images of the town were cracked and bits of code was showing.

“There must be a virus,” Deathpit said.

“That’s probably why we can’t access eFlare’s system data. Let’s hurry up and find the source of the problem,” Freedan said.

“I couldn’t help but overhear,” came a voice. They turned around and saw a familiar looking woman.

“Mimiru?” Freedan asked.

The girl shook her head. “Mimiru? Must have the same character model or something. I’m BlackRose.”

“Pleased to meet you. I’m Freedan. This is Blade and Deathpit,” Freedan said.

“Hmmm. A good team. A blademaster, a wavemaster and a heavy axeman. That’s a powerful combination of characters. You must be strong,” BlackRose commented.

“Well, you wanted us for something?” Blade asked.

“Uh, yeah. You’re investigating the virus too huh?” BlackRose asked.

“Yes, we are,” Freedan asked.

“Hmm. Well my friends are too. As a matter of fact, Kite (he’s a twin blade), myself and Balmung were about to go to a suspicious looking area,” BlackRose said.

“Balmung?” Freedan asked. “You mean Balmung of the Azure Sky?”

[Author’s Note: Make your own ‘descendent of viagra’ joke. I’m too lazy.]

“Yeah. We’re about to attack the heart of the virus. We need all the help we can get!” BlackRose said.

“Alright! We’ll meet you there!” Freedan said.

They warped to a dark looking field, similar to the one where they had fought Skeith two years ago. Balmung walked up to Freedan his wings flapping softly behind him.

“Ah, the keyblade master. It is good that you have come to aid us again,” Balmung said.

“I’m Kite, pleased to meet you,” said a twinblade in red clothes.

“This one is special. He has received a ‘key’ of his own. It grants him access to various parts of the world shut off by others. With your two keys, we should be able to finally seal this menace,” Balmung said.

“I have a question.” said Freedan. “ Have you heard of someone called eFlare?”

“Why yes. He’s a system administrator. Or he was, but he seems to have disappeared,” Balmung said.

“We need to access his personal files,” Freedan said. “We help you, and you help us, deal?”

“Of course,” Balmung said.

“It comes!” BlackRose shouted.

A large eye appeared in front of the warriors.

“So this is Corbenik?” Balmung asked. “The last of the Wave?”

“This eye don’t look so tough! Let’s just smash him and then get the info!” Deathpit shouted.

“Be careful. He’s a lot stronger than he looks. His magical presence is immense. He’s basically this worlds version of a god,” Blade said.

Kite stood back. “You guys where him down and then I’ll use Data Drain!”

“Right!” Freedan said. Freedan lifted his keyblade and struck at Corbenik. Blade began casting all the powerful spells he knew. Deathpit bashed Corbenik’s side with an Axe. Balmung and BlackRose gathered behind Corbenik and kept him pinned down.

The shield surrounding Corbenik exploded in a ball of light.

“Kite! Now! Use Data Drain!” BlackRose shouted.

Kite raised his fist in the air, when Corbenik cast a bolt spell that through him off guard. Corbenik’s shield returned.

“Dammit!” Deathpit shouted. “Try again!”

Freedan looked at Balmung. “Balmung, I have an idea!”

[Author’s Note: Look for combination attacks from this point forward!]

Balmung lifted Freedan and flew high above Corbenik. Freedan leapt down crashing the shield with his keyblade, and then Balmung came down after him landing a paralyzing strike.

Kite raised his wrist and shouted. “DATA DRAIN!!!”

“I’ve managed to open access to eFlare’s files. Perhaps you will find what you are looking for?” Balmung asked.

“Hmmm,” Blade said. “Keather, I’m sending this data to you. Get ready to receive it!”

“Roger that!” Keather said. “Oh my god! Guys we have a problem! Log out now! “

“What the hell is going on out there?” Freedan asked.

“The Brainless and the Soulless are waging war, and the city is caught in the middle of it! Ultimecia and Seifer showed up too and are trying to fight, but we’ll need all the help we can get!” Aoiga said.

Chapter XIII: The Battle For Ultimecia’s Castle

The fields near the castle were engulfed in darkness. Soulless were fighting with Brainless and both were attacking the humans. The Elsa, Durandal and ARK were firing on them from space, but their effect was random and minimal at best. Squall and Rinoa rushed to the frontline.

“How many can you take Squall?” Rinoa asked.

“Enough to keep you safe,” Squall said.

“Promise?” Rinoa asked.

Squall lifted his gunblade. “I promise.”

Aoiga and Fixy attacked a large horde of Soulless from the rear of the castle postern.

“Aoiga, looks like our role in this journey has come to a close,” Fixy said.

“Now now, Fixy. When did you become so weak?” Aoiga asked.

“I merely meant that there seemed to be no more worthy opponents for us,” Fixy smiled, her eyes flashing.

“Hmmph! It would seem so, come on Soulless! Present us with a challenge!” Aoiga taunted.

“Jason, if you were ever gonna pull off a crazy stunt, now would be the time!” Keather said.

“You’ve got my back, right?” Jason asked.

“I’d follow your crazy ass into the very bowels of hell. You can trust me,” Keather said.

“Very well, let’s go find Remus then!” Jason said.

The two crashed through a horde of Brainless.

KOS-MOS was using her twin gatling guns to defend Shion from a large group of Brainless.

“These opponents are great in number,” KOS-MOS said. “Our odds of survival are slim at best. Shion, it would be better if you ran.”

“I can’t leave you here by yourself!” Shion said.

“It is my sworn duty to protect you!” KOS-MOS replied. “It has nothing to do with my primary objectives. You are my friend and I will defend you!”

“You’re my friend too KOS-MOS. Let’s fight together,” Shion said.

KOS-MOS threw down her gatling guns. They were out of ammo.

“Very well,” KOS-MOS said. “We will protect each other then.”

Blade, Deathpit and Freedan ran down to the huge chasm in the fields.

“Well this is wonderful!” Deathpit said. “There’s gotta be at least 200,000 of them. How can we take on that many?”

“We’ve always been surrounded by foes and outnumbered. It’s never stalled us before, why should it now?” Blade asked.

“There’s a difference between a few dozen and a few hundred thousand, Blade,” Deathpit said.

“Well then, we’ll just have to defeat them faster to make up for the time diference,” Blade said lifting his staff.

Deathpit let out a gruff laugh. “You cocky bastard. I figured you’d say something like that.”

They ran down the ravine crashing through the foes.

“We can’t let them reach the town, so let’s stop them here!” Freedan shouted.

“Ahhh,” came a dark voice at the end of the cliff.

Jason and Keather stopped running and drew their weapons. A man in black with long black hair stood in front of them.

“Remus…” Jason said.

“Correct. I assume you came looking for Clara, no?” Remus asked.

“Give her to me and I won’t hurt you too badly,” Jason said.

“Very well. She’s in the top tower of the Castle Oblivion. She’s right next to Raini, which may or may not interest you,” Remus said. “I will meet you there. Now is not the time for our decisive battle.”

Remus turned to leave but Jason ran up and shoved his lance in Remus’ back.

Remus turned and laughed.

“Very well. I can tell you can’t wait to die,” Remus laughed.

Remus’s body became engulfed in darkness and his eyes glowed bright red. Two large dark wings sprouted from his back.

“Keather, this is my fight. You stay out of it,” Jason said. “If I don’t make it, save Clara.”

Remus let out a demonic laugh and rushed at Jason. Remus pulled out a dark lance that matched Jason’s with an electrifying crash. Jason was pushed back to the edge of the cliff, but he rolled to the side and got up.

“Like my Fission?” Remus asked. “It’s handcrafted by the power of darkness to destroy you!”

“Yeah, we’ll I hope you didn’t pay too much!” Jason shouted. Jason jumped above Remus and smashed down with his Fusion, only to miss and be struck in the shoulder by Remus.

“Ahh! Too slow I see,” Remus growled. “I consume the weak!”

Jason spun back and slashed across Remus’s chest with Fusion. Remus fell back and returned to normal.

“Hahaha! Well done, that was far more fun that I thought it would be, Jason. I look forward to our next encounter,” Remus said retreating into darkness.

“Coward! Come back here and fight!” Jason shouted, before passing out onto the rock.

“Jason!” Keather shouted, rushing over to him.

With a crash of light Chainsaw appeared before Freedan, Blade and Deathpit.

“Well now. It looks like you’ve got more problems then just a few Brainless and Soulless!” Chainsaw laughed.

“As do you,” came a familiar voice from behind them.

Freedan turned to see King Boxxle standing behind them.

“Your majesty!” Blade and Deathpit shouted.

“Now then. That will be enough from you, Chainsaw! I think the time has come to end this silly charade of war!” Boxxle shouted. Boxxle began to chant a long and complicated summon spell in a foreign tongue, which he concluded with the sentence: “ I summon you, Neo-Bahamut!”

A large dragon appeared in the sky over the chasm and exploded everything in it, except for the four warriors. Chainsaw disappeared in a ball of white exploding light.

“So then. Ultimecia and Seifer really were trying to help us, eh?” Joan asked.

“Yeah. By the way, where were you?” Freedan asked.

“Never mind that! Welcome back, King Boxxle!” Joan said.

“Yes. By the way, she was fighting, alongside KOS-MOS,” Boxxle said. “But how she got there is another story.”

Joan chuckled. “I was running behind you guys and I slipped off a ravine. KOS-MOS caught me and so I stuck with them.”

King Boxxle stood at the center of the computer room. The five warriors stood in front of him, followed by Aoiga, Fixy, Squall, Rinoa, Shion and KOS-MOS. Behind them were Keather, Captain Matthews, Master Gaignum, Jr. and Eggman. Ultimecia and Seifer walked in behind them.

“Ah, our guests of honor have arrived,” Boxxle said.

Seifer ran up to Squall and Rinoa. “I’m home,” he said.

“Listen now, we’ve got several serious problems that we must deal with,” King Boxxle said. “First off we’ve been able to locate the Soulless and Brainless heart world. It is located near the place where Twilight Town disappeared. Twilight Town, and this world have now returned, as well as the doorway to Kingdom Smarts. We believe Organization XIII may be plotting to manipulate this.

“Furthermore, the individual planets have been left in turmoil by our recent meddling. Blood Gulch’s pointless war continues. The warriors who battled against the dream demon Beatrice are now stuck in the dark world and need to be rescued. A survivovr from Organization XIII known as Kaos has managed to sneak his way into Fienal and is preparing to use the Crest of Destruction. Gannondorf was revived by Aghanim before he died and has yet again kidnapped Zelda.

“Snake needs help finding Meryl and Gray Fox, but has been trapped by his enemy, Liquid Snake. Springfield has been attacked by those damned aliens again. A large swarm of Brainless have attacked Kenshin’s group, and Yuna is searching for a way to revive Tidus, but found a machina weapon, Vegnagun instead. All these problems need to be taken care of and quickly. I will leave them to our keyblade master.

“Sephiroth has completed the Giant of Babel and has amassed a large armada of enemy ships in front of Twilight Town to block our way. We will need everybodies help, so get anyone and everyone you can from the planets to meet just outside of orbit of the Tower of Babel where we will amass our own fleet to combat the Dreadnaught.”

“Very well then. I will begin working on reviving a certain somebody to help us out,” Ultimecia said.

“Not another one of your henchmen!” Joan said.

“No,” Ultimecia said. “I will revive the greatest Dawn Warrior ever known. Cloud Strife.”

“All right then! Let’s save the worlds one more time!” Freedan said.

Chapter XIV: Restoring the Light of the Worlds

“Okay, I think for simplicity sake we should head to the planet’s in order. Let’s start by trying to recruit the guys at Blood Gulch,” Freedan said.

“Right,” Deathpit said.

Blood Gulch Blues

When they landed on the familiar Blood Gulch planet, they saw a blue flare shoot up from Blue Base.

“I guess Tucker and Caboose wanted to say hello?” Blade asked.

“Probably so,” Freedan said. “Let’s go.”

They walked over to the blue base and were greeted by Tucker and Caboose. However standing in front of them was a man in cobalt armor.

“It can’t be… Church?” Blade asked.

“Yeah. It’s a complicated story, suffice it to say I’m possessing a robotic version of my own body…” Church said.

“Ohhhkay. Magic, got it,” Deathpit said.

Two others walked out from the base. One was a soldier in black armor and the other was an alien in blue armor.

“This is Tex, my former girlfriend, but now a genetically enhanced supersoldier pain in the ass,” Church said.

“Pleased to meet you, I’m sure,” Tex said dryly.

“Is that blue guy a Covenant?” Deathpit asked.

“Well, sorta. But he’s actually a good guy,” Tucker said.

“He is CrunchBite the Mighty!” Caboose said. “I am Caboose the powerful… and sexy… wizard. And that,” Caboose pointed to a small orb on the ground. “Is Andy, the Bomb.”

“Holy shit, I thought that was a rock!” Deathpit said stepping back.

“Yeah… most people do. This is fuckin’ hilarious,” Andy shouted. “I could blow this entire fuckin’ planet to bits, but nobody cares cause I’m just a steel orb of wasted technology.”

“Please don’t blow up Mr. Andy. Do you want some ice cream? I can get you ice cream.” Caboose said.

Freedan whispered into Church’s ear. “Has he gotten stupider since we last met?”

“You know I’m honestly concerned about him,” Church said.

“Oh, Mr. Keyblade Master, sir. I think Tucker found another keyblade somewhere,” Caboose said.

“Well it wasn’t exactly a keyblade. It was a blade that acted kinda like a key in some situations,” Tucker said.

“Or maybe it was like Freedan’s key, that when you use it on a person… it unlocks there death,” Caboose said.

“You know I would love to live in your world for about ten minutes,” Church said.

“I enjoy myself,” Caboose said.

“I probably wouldn’t get any work done, but I wouldn’t really care,” Church replied.

“So where is this key or blade of yours?” Freedan asked.

“Well no sooner than I use it, does it just simply go missing. Some guy in black shows up, says it was his and then steals it! Can you believe that shit?” Tucker complained.

“A guy in black? Organization XIII?” Freedan asked.

“Well no. He said his name was Axe or something,” Tucker said.

“Axe?!” Freedan shouted. “Do you know where he is?”

“Yeah, he stole a banshee from Red Base and went to another planet. You can imagine how pissed Sarge was,” Church said.

“Yeah, I bet,” Deathpit noted. “Well at least we know he’s alright, then?”

“Yeah. Axe can take care of himself,” Freedan said.

“As long as you’re here,” Andy said. “I think you should take care of this futile war.”

“Wow, that’s unusually selfless of you, Andy,” Tex said.

“No, I was translating from CrunchBite over there,” Andy said.

“Really? All I heard was Blarg Blarg Honk Honk,” Blade said.

“No kidding! Unless you got your ‘English to Blarg Blarg dictionary, let me take care of it alright,” Andy said.

“We are about to end the Brainless crisis, and we need your help. For that we were planning on ending this war,” Freedan said.

“What with the Red’s? Fat chance. I mean I think Grif, Donut and Simmons wouldn’t mind, but you could never convince Sarge to stop the attack,” Church said.

“Well we’ll stop him by force if necessary. We’re about to take on the homeworld of these guys and we need all the help we can get,” Freedan said.

“Well we’d be glad to help you. We owe it to you,” Andy said.

“Thank you CrunchBite,” Deathpit said.

“No that was me! I mean if your going to war, you could always use a bomb right?” Andy said. “I live to blow up!”

“That’s a remarkably good idea,” Deathpit said.

“Let’s go see what Sarge says?” Freedan suggested.

“Right,” Deathpit replied.

After a short hike to the Red Base they saw a large Brainless attacking. Simmons, Grif and Donut were shooting from the Warthog, and Sarge was attacking it up close with a shotgun.

“Sarge!” Deathpit shouted.

“Rookie! Where the hell were you?” Simmons asked.

“Long story!” Deathpit said. “Let’s help them Freedan!”

Freedan ran in front of the Brainless and blocked it from Sarge.

“Hey that’s pretty good for a blue guy,” Sarge said. “Thank you. Now just stand still so I can shoot a shell through the both of you.”

“Listen Sarge, we’re not Red or Blue soldiers. We’re from command. The war is over because an even greater threat has shown up,” Deathpit said. “We’re to assist you and then you are to get off this rock using the dropships.”

“Oh well. Looks like the parties over,” Sarge said. “Roger that command. Let’s take care of this guy first.”

“Right then,” Freedan said.

[Combination Attack- Dishonorable Discharge]
Freedan and Sarge shook hands. They then turned around. Sarge unloaded a massive amount of Shotgun shells into the enemy while Freedan held it in place with his keyblade. To finish it off. Sarge stuck a Plasma Grenade on the beast which sent it hurling into outer space.

“Later Maggot!” Sarge shouted.
[/Combination]

“Okay then. Now that the war is over I feel so without purpose,” Sarge said. “As such, I’d be glad to help you take on the brainless homeworld.”

“Okay then,” Church said. “We’ll meet at the rendevous point. Our dropship can carry a warthog, but not Shiela. So she’ll have to stay behind.”

“I understand. I’m too heavy because I was built by the arms companies lowest bidder. I’m somewhat ashamed of that,” Shiela said.

“You look after the Gulch, okay Shiela?” Freedan asked.

“I thought she was dead too?” Deathpit whispered.

“She was probably rebuilt or something,” Blade replied.

The dropship soared off and the three warriors entered the Red Riotz.

“I guess I’ll shut down for a while,” Shiela said.

The Rebirth of Filgaia

“I don’t understand this monster!” Jet shouted. “How does it continue to survive?”

“We can’t go on!” Gallows cursed.

In front of them was Beatrice in her final form, that of an unborn planet.

“There is no room left in my dimension for you likes,” Beatrice said.

“Well how about us?” Freedan asked.

“The Keyblade Master?” Beatrice shouted. “How dare you defile my universe with your presence.”

“Damn you sure seem to piss a lot of bad guys off,” Joan laughed.

“You guys, take five. Let us deal with this enemy,” Freedan said.

“You’ll need my help!” Jet shouted.

[Combination Attack- Wild Wild West]
Jet fired an entire clip from his machine gun into the monster. Freedan then blasted it with a fire spell which caused the gunpowder to explode. Jet beat the monster in the face with the butt of his gun and then threw his boomerang down at it. While it was stunned Freedan and Jet fired one round at it, which caused it to explode.
[/Combination Attack]

“No!” The monster Beatrice shouted. “Even if I die, your planet will meet the same fate! A world without meaning cannot exist!”

Suddenly the entire dimension went from one of blackness to one of light.

“Where are we?” Joan asked.

“This is the Horizon,” came a voice. It was that of Boxxle. “Here is where all memories from all worlds are stored. I had looked for it to maybe find a way to stop the Brainless. To think it was hiding in the 25th Dimension?”

“How can we revive Filgaia?” Virginia asked.

“That is easy. If it was devoured by the Brainless all you must do is defeat the Brainless at their source,” Boxxle said. “We ask you to help us.”

“Help you means helping ourselves, so why not?” Jet asked.

Virginia smacked Jet.

“We would help you because we owe it to you,” Clive said. “Not to mention our goals seem to coincide.”

“Plus there’s bound to be plenty of action. I’m in,” Gallows chuckled.

“Ugh, men…” Virginia said. “Take us to your world. I’m sure we can be of some use.”

“Boxxle. You know what to do. You guys stay still. It’s time to wake up from this nightmare,” Deathpit said.

The four were surrounded by beams of light that sent them to the Tower of Babel.

“Okay, onto the next planet!” Deathpit shouted.

The Crest of Annihilation

They landed in the tower of Fienal to see Dias fending off Kaos.

“This world will face the wrath of the Organization!” Kaos shouted.

“It’s you!” Freedan shouted.

Kaos grinned. “I’d rather skip the formal introductions!”

Kaos raised his hand in the air. “Arcris God of Time and Space! I surrender my will to fit your design. I require the power to conquer light and existence to obliterate all to nothingness! I summon your most deadly warrior to take form in my body! I summon you, Gabriel!”

Kaos’s black robe flew off and became a white robe. His hair changed to a short red crop and his eyes became soulless and black.

“It has been a long time since I have seen the light of day,” said Gabriel. “This mortal has given his body to the greatest of God’s Ten Wise Men. A wise decision. I will now end all with the Crest of Annihilation.”

“You wish to destroy the universe then?” Dias asked. “Very well. You may start with me!”

[Combination Attack- Heart of the Sword]
Dias and Freedan rushed at Gabriel and sliced through his torso with one powerful swoop. Dias then threw his sword at Gabriel. Gabriel fell backwards on the stone floor. Freedan leapt down and struck through Gabriel once more. Dias and Freedan lifted their swords in the air and summoned a large firebolt that struck Gabriel and caused his body to disintegrate before them.
[/Combination Attack]

“Has that done it?” Freedan asked.

“I think so,” Dias said. “I would like to thank you again for helping us.”

“Well we’d like to ask you to help us in return. We are about to launch a war upon the Brainless homeworld and we need as much help as we can get,” Freedan said.

“Claude managed to contact his father’s ship, Calnus. It is on it’s way here to pick them up and take it them to Earth,” Dias said. “I will convey your message to him.”

“Please do. Tell him that King Boxxle specifically requests it. Also, hand him these special coordinates,” Deathpit said handing Dias a disk.

“I will. Before you leave, you may wish to do some training?” Dias asked.

“At the coliseum, eh?” Freedan asked. “Sure. It can’t hurt.”

“And the winner is Freedan’s team!” An announcer shouted. Balloons rose over the city, as the Calnus soared overhead.

The Silver Arrow

“Link!” Freedan called out the a lone horse rider in the Hyrule fields.

The horse circled around Freedan and then stopped nearby. Link walked up to Freedan.

“You have come. It is a good thing. Gannondorf has returned and he has kidnapped the Princess. He wishes to steal the Triforce from her…” Link began.

“But has come to find that she don’t have it, is that it?” Deathpit asked.

“Put plainly, yes. He believes that I have it and as such has summoned me to his fortress. I came, but have no way of knowing what I should do,” Link said.

“Your stronger than that Link. I’ll give him the Triforce in exchange for the Princess and then we’ll smash him,” Freedan said.

“And don’t forget,” Joan said. “I have the gift of summoning the Silver Arrow. We’ll take him down faster than we did last time.”

“Right. I am counting on you all,” Link said.

The Gerudo Fortress was as dismal as the last time they went. Standing on the top was Gannondorf. Zelda was encased in a crystal next to him.

“Ah Keyblade Master! Long time no see, I hope you are well,” Gannondorf laughed.

“I am. If you release Zelda now, I might not hurt you,” Freedan said.

“Ah, such foolishness. So it must be you then that has the Triforce. Hand it over and she will not be hurt,” Gannondorf said.

“Fine take it,” Freedan said, handing it over to Gannondorf. “But we’ll be taking it back soon enough!”

Joan fired a silver arrow at Gannondorf which caused his body to quake, but it did not paralyze him, like last time.

“What?” Joan shouted.

“The power of the Triforce which you have so freely surrendered is all I need to conquer this world and all others!” Gannondorf shouted. “You may take your strumpet back Link. Her power is no longer needed!”

Zelda’s crystal cracked and she fell to the ground. Link rushed over to her while Freedan lifted his keyblade.

“Link, I may need your hand here!” Freedan shouted.

“Let us end this, now!” Link shouted.

[Combination Attack- Legendary Warriors]
Link’s sword glowed a bright blue and he spun around causing a wave to attack Gannondorf. Freedan slashed down with his keyblade knocking Gannondorf at Link, who sliced through his chest with the Master Sword. Link and Freedan then slashed their swords down causing two large waves to intersect on Gannondorf and create a monumental explosion.
[/Combination Attack]

Gannondorf’s body fell apart and the Triforce returned to Zelda’s hand.

“Why do you not take it?” Zelda asked.

“We want somebody with experience using it to aid our cause,” Freedan said.

“You mean there is to be another great war?” Link asked.

“Yes. You will be picked up by a Federation cruiser soon. Will you help us?” Deathpit asked.

“Of course,” Link said. “We must protect our lands. Zelda is to be a Queen soon.”

“But don’t you have to be… you know… married to be a King or Queen?” Joan asked.

“Indeed so,” Link smiled, holding Zelda’s hand.

Joan went red. “Awwwww! That’s so romantic!”

“Right then. We will see you soon,” Zelda said.

The Best is Yet To Come

“Well Snake?” Liquid asked. “What do you think about this?"

“I think you’re an idiot. How could you ever possibly create something like that?” Snake said.

“It’s the next line of Metal Gears. Metal Gear RAY. It’s already started construction. All they need is some funds to complete it. I’m sure when we hand over these plans to Gurlokovich, he’ll be quite pleased with us,” Liquid said.

“Ah, man. More of this high powered nuclear nonsense,” Deathpit said.

“What?” Liquid asked.

The hangar they stood in contained a second Metal Gear REX, a large computer with blueprints for the new type of Metal Gear, and Meryl, who was tied to a large C4 bomb.

“Well, Freedan, nice to have you here,” Snake said.

“More government dogs, Brother?” Liquid asked.

“Yeah. Looks like your little plan failed,” Snake said.

[Combination Attack- Big Boss]
Snake pulled out his Nikita missile launcher and fired a round the chased down Liquid and hit him in the back. Freedan took one of Snake’s grenades and threw it at Liquid. It exploded and sent Liquid flying back against the wall. Snake pulled out his FAMAS assault rifle and tossed Freedan an AK-47. They started rapidly firing upon Liquid who took most of their bullets. The grand finale? Snake pulled out his Socom pistol and Freedan threw another grenade. It sailed towards Liquid and Snake shot it midair causing it to detonate in a massive explosion of shrapnel.
[\Combination Attack]

“Before I die, I want you to know that I installed a special feature in REX. Snake! This one can destroy you without a pilot!” Liquid shouted.

Suddenly a ninja in cybernetic armor appeared. He carried a long katana.

“Gray Fox!” Snake shouted.

“Snake. I can stop this menace. I want to ask a favor of you. Help these two stop the Brainless, before they destroy all the true warriors of the world,” Gray Fox said.

Gray Fox slashed vigorously through Metal Gear REX, only to hit a pile of it’s missiles which caused it to explode. Metal Gear was destroyed, but Gray Fox fell to the ground, mortally wounded.

“Snake. It’s upper body still lives. You must end it now,” Gray Fox said.

“No, Gray Fox, you can’t die on me,” Snake shouted.

“I died in Zanzibar, Snake. You must finish it now!” Gray Fox said.

The upper portion of Metal Gear REX was preparing to launch a nuke. Snake pulled out his Stinger.

“Lucky I had one shot left. This is for you Fox,” Snake said.

The missile impacted against the radome of Metal GEAR REX, which caused it to shut down. Deathpit untied Meryl and disarmed the bomb.

“Well then. All’s well that ends well?” Blade asked.

“Gray Fox is dead,” Snake said.

“We might be able to save him. I can’t make any guarantee’s,” Freedan said.

“How?” Snake asked.

“If we destroy the enemies at their source, all the lives they have taken will be reborn. It happened before, so it might happen again,” Freedan suggested.

“All right. I’ll take Meryl to the SS Discovery and then meet you at the rendevous point,” Snake said. “Campbell did you get that?”

“Roger that Snake. Good luck,” Campbell said.

Wandering Samurai

“Man, how many of these things are there?” Sanosuke complained.

“I guess we’ll know when we count the corpses,” Saitoh remarked.

“That’s a little creepy pal,” Sanosuke said.

Freedan touched down on the other side of the planet. The city they were in was slightly smaller than Kyoto.

“This must be Tokyo, that Kenshin was talking about,” Freedan said.

“Oh my goodness! Brainless are everywhere!” Joan said.

“It’s just like Boxxle said. Let’s go lend a hand shall we?” Blade suggested.

“Ah, Freedan. It is good that you have come,” Kenshin said. “This one thought we were done for.”
“Kenshin! Do you know where they are coming from?” Freedan asked.

“No. They are not like those that followed Makoto. Perhaps they are being led by someone?” Kenshin suggested.

“That’d be my guess, but who?” Deathpit asked.

“By me,” came a strange voice.

Joan stepped back and drew her kodachi. “I know that voice!”

Standing on the top of the Kamiya Kashiin Dojo was Seifer.

“Not you again. I thought we had agreed to help each other!” Freedan said.

“Well yeah. Actually this is just training for these guys. They don’t have as much experience fighting Brainless as you do,” Seifer said.

Freedan sweatdropped. “You mean this is all a game?”

“Well sorta. They don’t seem to think so. But there is one nasty little bugger I can’t quite seem to control. Maybe you could lend a hand,” Seifer said pointing to a gargantuan Brainless in the shape of Shishio.

“It’s Makoto’s Brainless. Enjoy,” Seifer said.

“Why us?” Freedan asked.

“Hey, if you could beat eFlare’s Brainless, this should be nothing!” Seifer said.

Freedan lifted his keyblade. “Kenshin. I’ll need your help!”

[Combination Attack- Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu]
Kenshin did a valiant spin-slash attack which cut down a part of the Brainless.
“Like this!” Kenshin shouted throwing Freedan into the air.
“Ryusosen!” Freedan shouted landing a strike on the Brainless.
“Ryutsuisen!” Kenshin continued the chain of attacks.
“Doryusen!” Freedan shouted.
They both lined up in front of the Brainless.
“Battojutsu!” They shouted.
[\Combination Attack]

The Brainless exploded around them and Seifer applauded.

“That was quite a display, my friends,” Seifer said.

“Ah shut up,” Joan said.

“What’s up?” Seifer asked. “Something troubling you?”

Joan lifted her kodachi. “I still haven’t forgiven you for making a fool of me. I want to see right now who is stronger.”

“Is that a challenge?” Seifer asked. “Very well then, if it’ll clear your mind before the fight then I accept. Before we begin, I would like to apologize for my many misdeeds.”

“Shut up! I can’t fight a person who’s apologizing!” Joan shouted. “Doesn’t fit my style so right now you’re still a bad guy and you still want to see us all in an early grave okay?”

Seifer laughed a bit. “Very well then. I won’t hold anything back.”

“I don’t expect it any other way!” Joan shouted.

Seifer lifted his gunblade and held it in front of him like a shield. Joan smashed against it with both of her kodachi. Seifer fell back onto the ground, but jumped back up and sent a powerful smash against Joan. Joan took one strike, but managed to block the other and sent Seifer flying back with her other sword.

Seifer got up and laughed. “The battle is yours. You’ve grown much stronger.”

Joan smiled. “Of course. I owe a bit of it to hanging out with these guys of course. They’re pretty strong too.”

“I only hope our combined strength is enough to end this all,” Seifer said.

“As do I,” Kenshin said.

“Yo! You all okay?” shouted Sanosuke’s voice.

“Yes we’re fine Mr. Sanno. We’re about to go fight another great war. Can I ask your help?” Kenshin asked.

“Absolutely! I’ll round up Yahiko and the missus!” Sanosuke said.

“Thank you all,” Freedan said.

“Don’t worry about it. We have reasons to protect this place too y’know?” Sanosuke said.

Prank Call

“You needed help?” Freedan asked.

“What?” Marge asked. “No, we’re fine.”

Bart stood in the corner laughing.

“I’m gonna kill you!” Homer shouted.

“Let me at him!” Freedan shouted.

Suddenly a large alien appeared behind Bart.

“Uh-oh,” Bart said.

“D’oh!” Homer shouted.

“Did somebody call for an alien?” Kodos asked.

[Combination Attack-Duff Blaster]

Homer chugged an entire keg of beer. Freedan ignited the tip of his sword and placed it in front of Homer’s mouth as he let out a massive burp which sent Kodos flying back.

“See ya later Slimey!” Homer shouted.
[/Combination Attack]

“You need our help?” Homer asked. “Forget it! Ask for Frinky. He can help you out. We’re kind of the stay at home sort.”

“We already have Frink, but thanks for nothing,” Freedan said.

“Of course we’ll help. Kids pack your coats, we’re going with these strangers,” Marge said.

1000 Words

Freedan landed on the plateau outside of Bevelle where Yuna had told them to meet.

“What do you think this Vegnagun is?” Freedan asked.

“They said it was a machina weapon. Maybe Yuna will explain when she shows up,” Blade said.

Suddenly a large red ship flew towards them and landed nearby. Out of it ran Yuna, Rikku and a third woman in black clothing.

“Yuna,” Freedan noted. “You’ve changed.”

“Yeah. I’m a sphere hunter now,” Yuna said. Yuna’s outfit had changed considerably. She now wore shorts and a v-neck. She had guns attached to her sides. Rikku’s hair had grown a bit and she wore shorts and a tanktop. She wielded twin daggers.

“We’re the Gullwings, and this is our ship the Celsius. Whadda ya think Joan? Pretty cool huh?” Rikku laughed.

“I’m Paine. As these two won’t introduce me I thought I should do it myself,” the woman in black said.

“Oh, sorry Paine,” Yuna said.

“Pleased to meet you Paine, I’m Freedan. This is Blade, Deathpit and Joan,” Freedan said.

“You’re here to help us fight Vegnagun, right?” came a voice. It was the moptop from before. “I’m Buddy, the navigator. Our captain is… well you better prepare yourself for this.”

“I’m pilot and the captain,” said a whiny voice. It was the mowhawk. “You may call me Brother.”

“Okay, so what’s the deal with this Vegnagun?” Freedan asked.

“Right,” Yuna said.

“Vegnagun is a machina weapon. Some strange brainless has been trying to operate it. The brainless has sent the weapon deep into the Farplane and has pointed the gun at the core of Spira,” Paine said.

“You wanted our help?” Freedan asked.

“It’ll take more than just us to dismantle this thing. It may be even more powerful than Sin,” Yuna said.

“Alright then. I hate to ask for a favor in return, but if we help you, could you assist us in destroying the Brainless homeworld?” Freedan asked.

“Of course,” Yuna replied.

“Alright then, let’s go take care of your little machina problem,” Deathpit said.

They reached the core of the Farplane where they saw a massive machina weapon being controlled by a large brainless.

“Damn it! That thing’s huge!” Blade shouted. “It’ll be a tough fight.”

“Yeah, I ain’t looking forward to taking that thing on!” Deathpit replied.

“Well then, we should finish it quickly!” Paine shouted.

Freedan laughed. “My kind of woman. Let’s finish it!” Freedan rushed at the monster with Yuna close behind. He grabbed her hand. “Yuna! Together now!”

[Combination Attack- Gull Wings]
Freedan threw Yuna into the air. She fired several rounds on the Brainless. Freedan lifted his sword and Yuna landed on it. She fired several more rounds then leapt into the air. Freedan leapt behind her and they bounced off each other in the air. Freedan slashed down and Yuna fired twin magic bullets at the Brainless. Freedan landed and Yuna landed beside him.
[\Combination Attack]

The Brainless melted into the machine and Vegnagun exploded upon itself.

“Well that wasn’t so hard after all,” Rikku said.

“It’s because you didn’t do anything,” Paine commented.

“So…” Freedan asked. “Has your plan to revive Tidus yielded any results?”

Yuna sighed softly. “No. I don’t think there is a way.”

Suddenly a small boy appeared in front of them. It was a fayth.

“You want to see him again don’t you?” He asked.

“Yes, please,” Yuna said.

“I can’t promise anything, but we’ll try our best,” he said.

A large wave of light appeared in front of them. Slowly from it walked Tidus stretching his arms out.

“Well that was a nice nap,” he joked.

Yuna ran up and hugged him. “Is it… really you?”

Tidus touched his face. “I think it’s me.”

Yuna smiled. “It is you! Welcome home!”

“We’ll meet you there. But I think we should leave these two alone for a while,” Paine said.

“Right,” Freedan said, leaving.

“Hey!” shouted Wakka’s voice. “Wassup?”

“What are you all doing here?” Rikku asked.

“I think Auron told us to come here,” Lulu said.

“I’m back everyone,” Tidus exclaimed. “I’m home.”

Chapter XV: The Assault of the Dreadnaught

“Well it is good to see that you’ve returned safely,” Master Gaignum said upon their arrival back to the Tower of Babel.

“Yeah yeah, cut the cander and start the mission briefing. Who’s shown up thus far?” Deathpit asked.

“The drop ship Foe Hammer from Blood Gulch has arrived carrying a Gauss Warthog. Our Federation Cruisers have picked up the parties from Nightmare Castle, Alaska, Hyrule and Kyoto. They are about to show up at Springfield and bring them all back here. The Calnus has arrived with Claude and Dias’s crew aboard. All we’re waiting for now is the Celsius,” Gaignum said.

“What about our usual allies?” Freedan asked.

“The Durandal and The Elsa are waiting in orbit. I will be the commanding officer of the Durandal and Captain Matthews will take charge of the Elsa. The ARK Space Station is in tow and should be here soon. We expect Red Riotz to be our main attack cruiser of course,” Gaignum said.

“Right. When’s the briefing?” Blade asked.

“As soon as the others show up. It should only be about another three hours. Sit and relax. It’ll be pointless to send you in when you’re exhausted,” Gaignum said.

“Right. Okay, we’ll take it easy for a while,” Freedan said.

“All right, here’s our current plan of attack,” Boxxle said. “The enemy has amassed a massive armada blocking our way to the Brainless homeworld. The only gateway is in Twilight Town, so that is our next destination. There are an estimated 37 Battle Cruisers being supported by an astonishing number of smaller fighters. Our nearest estimate is over 500 ships.

“This of course is not including the Dreadnaught class Giant of Babel. The only way to destroy this ship is to destroy it’s reactor core deep in the center of the ship. The only entrance is through the many smaller cannon ports. Needless to say our larger cruisers are too small and too slow to manage so we’ll be relying on our fighters and Red Riotz.

“Enough about our enemies, and onto our status. Our Flagship will be the Durandal. On our left flank will be the Elsa and our right flank will be the Calnus. Also under us are eight federation cruisers: The Invincible, The Destiny and The Liberation will be our right flank. The Omnipotent, The Valiant and The Independence will be our left flank. Down our center will be The Titan and The Andromeda.

“Our main fighters will be the drop ship Foe Hammer commanding our Falcon class fighters on the left flank, the Celsius commanding our Kingdom class fighters on the right flank. I’ve also learned that Jason Tandro has built a special type of ship for the center run and that they are the best of the line.”

“They’re called Arc-En-Ciel. They have been put through trial runs on the Phantom Storm and have passed all missions with S+5 Class certification,” Jason said. “I will be piloting the one that leads our center flank.”

[Author’s Note: In KH2 I did create a ship called Arc-En-Ciel, which made S+2 rank on some of the missions, but my masterwork was one called Kamikaze. It was slow, but it had so many weapon gummis that anything in front of me was obliterated. It took out the Dreadnaught Core in TEN SECONDS!]
“The Red Riotz,” Boxxle continued. “Will approach the Dreadnaught from behind and enter one of the cannon ports. They alone will brave the dangers of the interior and destroy the cannon’s core and hopefully Sephiroth along with it.”

“Right then. I say the time to act is now. We need to hurry up and finish them before they can finish us,” Blade said.

“Right. Head to your ships. Good luck to us all,” Boxxle said.

“Jason, you won’t be coming with us?” Freedan asked.

“I will be behind you, but I have another reason to want to make it to Castle Oblivion. I need to go with Keather,” Jason said. “My part in your journey is over for now.”

Freedan placed his hand on Jason’s shoulder. “Don’t get yourself killed out there.”

“I won’t. I’ve slowly realized that I am the only one who can finish this. I have to end my suffering now,” Jason said.

“Alright, all pilots inbound. Prepare for attack,” Gaignum said. “On this battlefield, I’m giving out the orders so you better like it. Let’s make sure that these Brainless scum don’t see our friends in the Red Riotz coming!”

“Aye Sir!” the crew of the Durandal shouted.

Before their eyes flew the entirety of the Dreadnaught defense. 37 Cruisers and the Giant of Babel that looked like a flying castle.

“Be careful fighters. One blast from that creation cannon and the shards of you that remain will be blown to points unknown,” Gaignum said.

“Sir, all 37 cruisers accounted for. It seems our distraction has worked,” a field officer said.

“Right. Okay our job is to take out as many of these bad boys as we can. Hold off and fly defensively. All we need to do is give Deathpit enough time to take out the core!” Gaignum said.

The Falcon fighers behind the Foe Hammer managed to tear through two of the cruisers, but at the cost of nearly half their fleet.

“Damn it all,” Sarge shouted. “They’re dying too fast. I hate to do it this way. But we better fly defensive like that old whatchamacallit says.”

The Independence opened fire with one of its phase cannons and took out a cruiser and a large number of fighters, but a small group of enemy fighters managed to fly in and destroy its cannon drive.

The Valiant’s commander ordered them to unload their entire salvo and then pull back, resulting in a devastating loss to the enemy of four battle cruisers and a huge stock of enemy fighters.

The Omnipotent lived up to it’s name and managed to take out three battle cruisers with it’s phase cannon but was hit by an enemy assault and lost use of its starboard laser guns. In it’s second wave it took out one more cruiser but it was gunned down by another and it exploded.

“Master Gaignum, we’ve lost the Omnipotent!” a field officer said.

“Damn it! Where is ARK? They should have shown up by now!” Gaignum thought.

Red Riotz sailed in from the back with little enemy fighters to get in their way.

“Hah! Looks like Gaignum’s diversion tactic worked!” Deathpit said. Okay, we’re gonna go in after the next cannon blast from this guy and fly fast to find a way in. Be careful,” Deathpit said.

The Giant of Babel fired a creation cannon blast which hit the shield of the Durandal. They flew into the interior of the Giant of Babel.

“Our shield is down to 54%. We can withstand one more blast from that cannon, after that we’re toast,” a field officer said.

“Confirmed. In the meantime respond in our own kind. Fire our creation cannon!” Gaignum ordered.

“Aye Captain!” an officer shouted.

The Durandal opened fire with their cannon and took out five cruisers down the center line.

“Hey Gaignum!” Jason shouted. “A little warning next time would be much appreciated.”

Jason took his Arc-En-Ciel inbound and fired at the cannon of an enemy cruiser rendering it useless. He then double-backed and shot out it’s bridge, causing it to explode.

“Damn, what a pilot,” Keather noted from the bridge of the Elsa. “It’s our turn. Let’s take out that last ship on the left flank!”

The Elsa fired it’s phase cannon and destroyed the last cruiser, but not before it shot off a potshot and crashed through the Independence.

“We’ve lost the Independence!” an officer shouted.

“Affirmative,” Gaignum said. “All right then. What’s Calnus’ side look like?”

The Invincible fired a phase cannon shot which tore through three of the enemy cruisers, but two more opened fire and took it down .

The Destiny soared in front of the Celsius and used it’s own shield to eliminate two cruisers and then used it’s phase cannon to take out another. The Celsius flew by and took out a cruiser of it’s own.

The Liberation managed to wipe out two cruisers but it’s cannons began to malfunction.

“We’ve lost the Invincible!” the field officer said.

“Damn it! How’s our cannon looking?” Gaignum asked.

“We’re at 70% power. Estimated time to firing about three minutes,” another officer said.

“Alright. Any sign of ARK?” Gaignum said.

“They are inbound. They should be here within the next five minutes,” an officer reported.

“Right. Hurry up Deathpit,” Gaignum said.

“Sir! The Giant of Babel’s core temperature is rising. They’re about to fire again!” an officer shouted.

“Damn! All units brace yourselves for impact!” Gaignum shouted.

“No sir! Their main target is the Titan and Andromeda! They want to take us all out in one shot!” Another officer shouted.

“Titan! Sail to your starboard and try to evade the blast! Andromeda do the same to Port!” Gaignum shouted.

The Titan managed to evade the cannon, but the Andromeda was too slow and it went down.

“Our shield is at 3% The next blast will destroy us for sure!” An officer said.

“All right. Move the ship out of the range of the cannon. Order all surviving craft to pull back and away from the cannon. The good thing about that Dreadnaught is that they can’t change their targeting too greatly,” Gaignum said.

“Affirmative!” Another officer said.

The Titan sailed in and tore threw two cruisers. The Foe Hammer closed in from behind and tore down a third.

“Only seven enemy cruisers left!” Sarge shouted.

The Destiny and Celsius repeated their previous attack and took down three cruisers. Suddenly out of nowhere a huge blast took out two cruisers.

“Master Gaignum! The ARK has arrived!” A field officer shouted.

“Excellent!” Gaignum said.

Suddenly the remaining two cruisers and fighters turned around and returned to the Giant of Babel.

“Hey, they’re retreating!” An officer noted.

“Don’t break out the champagne yet. They aren’t retreating. They’re heading for the Red Riotz! All fighters pursue them! Try to take out those cruisers en route!” Gaignum said. “All battle cruisers open fire of the Giant of Babel. We don’t need to destroy, just try to shake it up a little!”

As it was, only the Calnus, Titan and Destiny could open fire on the Giant of Babel because they were the only ones with functioning phase cannons. Foe Hammer and Celsius had joined the fighters pursuit.

Red Riotz was weaving it’s way between a mesh of maintenance tunnels and access ways when the swarm of fighters caught up to them.

“Looks like we’ll have some company after all. Joan and Freedan you guys shoot them down. Blade I need you to beef up the power to the rear shields,” Deathpit said.

“Right!” They all replied.

Two fighters managed to zero in on the Red Riotz but Joan took them out with the top cannon. A large door opened in front of the Red Riotz and they found the core.

“All right!” Deathpit shouted. “Preparing phase cannon. Let’s tear this mutha out!”

The Red Riotz phase cannon blasted through the core, which erupted in a massive explosion.

“This whole damn Babel is gonna explode! We have to get out of here now!” Freedan shouted.

“Right!” Deathpit replied.

Red Riotz sailed out the main cannon and found two cruisers blocking their way. Deathpit blasted through their hulls with the phase cannon. And soared out to meet the rest of the ships. The Giant of Babel behind them exploded to bits, save for one small escape pod that sailed towards Twilight Town.

“Looks like Sephiroth escaped after all,” Freedan said.

“We’ll take care of him,” Blade said. “Don’t worry.”

Chapter XVI: Journey Into Darkness

Back onboard the Durandal, preparations were being made for the final attack.

“We lost all but four Federation Cruisers, and countless fighters. We’re not faring to well right now,” Gaignum said. “Also a number of our remaining ships suffered incalculable damage to their shields and phase cannons and would be useless if deployed into combat.”

“That’s okay. We’ve figured out how to open the portal to the enemy homeworld. There is likely something of the sort in Twilight Town. We will have to open the gate, but when we do you will be able to land your ships. If the Giant of Babel was just an aegis to enemy stronghold, then the stronghold itself will no doubt have ample defensive capabilities. Our better chance at a successful assault would be to land a strike team and attack them on their own turf,” Freedan said.

“Listen, even if that was the case, who would be in this strike team?” Gaignum asked.

“My team, of course. I’d ask for the team from Blood Gulch to join us. The Warthog and Banshee will no doubt come in handy. Basically everybody who joined us to get here will be a part of it,” Deathpit said.

“So your planning on simply landing the Red Riotz and using it as your main offensive?” Gaignum asked.

“Yes, while your ships provide a blockade in case anybody tries to flee. Also if the space colony ARK could fire upon the homeworld every now and again, we wouldn’t mind it in the least,” Freedan said.

“Can the Red Riotz fit your entire team?” Ronixis Kenni, commander of the Calnus, asked.

“Actually Commodore, we were going to ask that Calnus assist us in dropping the team off,” Freedan said.

“Why the Calnus?” Gaignum asked.

“I saw the ships out there and the Calnus is the most likely to survive this kind of a mission, even moreso than the Red Riotz,” Jason said.

“Jason, “ Freedan said. “Are you coming with us too?”

Jason nodded. “I haven’t been on the team as long as the rest of you, but I have a personal matter to attend to. I already told you, I’m going it alone. But as long as you’re planning on offering a safe landing I can at least buy you some time. I’ll take the Arc-En-Ciel and run a diversion while the Calnus lands.”

“That’s a dumb plan,” Blade said. “We have no idea what the enemy fortress even looks like, and you are planning on running blindly to attack.”

“All I know is that my friend and Freedan’s are both trapped in a prison tower in this Castle Oblivion. That means my target will be the tallest tower in the castle,” Jason said.

“Alright, then. Wait for the enemy planet to appear. It is likely right behind Twilight Town. When you see it have the Calnus move in, we’ll be behind you,” Freedan said.

[Author’s Note: This is where I stopped writing. I’m honesty not a fan of this fanfiction anymore and couldn’t bring myself to finish it, but I will tell you what happened. The strike team burst into Castle Oblivion. Yours truly destroyed Remus and saved Alphi. Freedan and the others defeated the Nightmare and saved the worlds. If there’s anything else I haven’t explained, let me know. Otherwise with this fanfic resting in pieces I am going to begin working on a GOOD TE: Fanfiction.]
