The final version is freakin' amazing so far. The guild quests alone have like doubled the amount of stuff you can do in the game.

I would say my level of skill in RPG Maker is about in the 60% percentile. There are people much better than me who have made games that can blow some freakin' minds.

I loved the RPG Maker XP game Knightblade. And there's a horror game for VX called One Night that looked awesome.

As an MMO... not with this software. I actually downloaded an MMO designer with the intent of doing just that, but I'd need a reliable server to run it.

As a game you can play online, but single player- maybe but I'm not sure how.

Someone made a shmup game in RPG Maker. Anything is possible.

Shmup = Shoot-'em-up.

Usually with spaceships and stuff. Ever play R-Type, or Lifeforce, or Gradius? Even the old-school Space Invaders counts.

And shmups that take place on foot with human characters are 'run and guns'. Contra, for example.

Freedan and Val beat me to it, but yes, Shmups. Like the Touhou Project games. The game that Val linked made me go "...hm, did they use Danmakufu for the bullet patterns, I wonder? :O" so I had to download it. It's actually pretty cool.
