They said they're "targeting" next year for it. Sounds like they're planning to release next year, not announce.
Also, new Wii Zelda. *Unrelenting joy* _________________

i cant wait!
i hope it'll be better than TP... eiji aonuma worked on it instead of miyamoto, and if eiji-san works on this one as well, i'll have to lower my expectations once again unless he doesn't try to make it like a dull and badly cryptic anime

It's being built from the ground up for the Wii, so there will be motion-controlled swordplay. They say that it makes such heavy use of the Wii-Motion Plus, it'll likely be required. On one hand, hey... accurate swordfighting. On the other hand, required purchases. Like the expansion pak for Majora's Mask. _________________

well, save your excitement for next year..
Mario Galaxy 2 looks more promising this time... and not just because it has Yoshi in it (:
I'm excited over Spirit Tracks cause i know better. Jus cause previous games aren't that good doesn't mean its sequel wont be either.
Metroid looks very awesome. still need to get prime 3 though, which also looked fantastic.
still havnt seen any coverage on kingdom hearts. C'MON, E3!!
i missed the golden sun preview, but im excited anyway.
of course, we cant forget final fantasy XIII as well. and XIV... they just keep coming o_o
the game Wet looks interesting... jumping atop moving cars, yeah that's just plain cool.
what else? |

Well, he did say near the completion of Twilight Princess that it would be the "last traditional Zelda game."
Personally, I don't mind diversity in Zelda as long as it retains the essence of exploration. To me, that is what Zelda is all about. I would like to see Zelda games with a higher focus on character development, you know, like a REAL RPG. But I digress. The only reason I didn't care for the DS Zelda was the immense amount of linearity. As long as they don't do that again, I'll be happy. 2-D Mario and Kirby games are linear. But not Zelda.
For Link not to have a sword... Could you really still call him Link? The whole mythology is that Link is of the Knights' Bloodline. It saddens me that Nintendo continues to limit itself on what they can do with the franchise. There are a great number of avenues to explore with Zelda, because it is so driven by story.
Anyway, I'm ranting... We'll see what happens... _________________

I don't know about Link not having a sword. TP artwork showed Zelda with a sword, but it wound up playing such a minor part in the game, it may as well have not been there.
Maybe you'll start off without one, and work your way through by other means until you earn one, rather than have the traditional "shoddy worksmanship-sword given to you, master sword, sword-that's-more-powerful-than-master-sword" formula. _________________
