Ok, so I just finished Lufia 2...

Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Eerr/WTF Eerr/WTF Eerr/WTF

Mad Mad Mad

Biting Biting Biting

Censored Censored Censored

Ok. So they
. It ends, and they
. Seriously? I mean it was bad enough that
ran off on
halfway through the game! URK! Mad Mad

Anyway, now that that is off my chest, I thought I would ask about what my next SNES RPG should be. I've been playing alot of them recently, having missed out on them way back when. What I'm trying to do is create the ultimate collection of SNES games.

Therefore, the game must be in CARTRIDGE FORMAT IN USA to be a valid option. (Terranigma and Seiken Densetsu 3 are, therefore, out) The following are the games I own and have played:

Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Final Fantasy III
Illusion of Gaia
The Legend of Zelda 3
Lufia II
Secret of Mana
Soul Blazer
Super Mario RPG

In addition, I own ActRaiser and Brain Lord, but have only played the first level of each. I have tried 7th Saga and Secret of Evermore, but both failed. Epically. I was considering FFIV, but was recommended out of it by a friend who knows my tastes rather well.

Any suggestions? Also, I'm looking to collect just as much as I am looking to play, so if there are any that I should own even if I don't play, tell me about those too. Very Happy

Just play FFIV. It's good, I promise. It's also one of the few FF games (if not the only, I can't really think right now) that has a preset couple straight off from the beginning instead of the tired game of "Oh I like her but she doesn't like me. Wait, now she likes me, but I don't like her she's irritating! OH DAMN IT I HAVE CONFLICTING FEELINGS WOE ANGST EMO!" that's present in all the others.

I liked the ending for Lufia 2. Sad Made me very very sad.

As for any other games that are RPGs for the SNES, I have no idea. You have the ones I would recommend.

i dont see FFVI on that list. that game is made of awesomeness.

and how could you not like the ending of lufia 2? its awesome. sure, it could be a bit better, but the music is SO GOOD.
considering the lacking quality in the speech of the characters (it sounds like it wasnt written very well), i think they did the end bit very well. at least, i respect an rpg where the hero dies at the end. plus the music in the fortress of doom kicks ass, and i just love the music when youre smashing the orbs at the bottom of the castle.
I have Lufia 2 in dutch. the only snes game ever to recieve a dutch translation. And damn that game is AWSOME. Not only are some of the puzzles epic, the story is, the battle are, and the sinistrals take epic to the next level.

Endings sad though Crying or Very sad Epic music did make it worthwhile.

Now try lufia 1, FF 4, Breath of Fire 1&2 and I know you want RPGs, but for the love of god play super metroid its THE super game on the super nintendo.

and on a side note. Lufia 3 is on the GBC its a rather good game, unlike Lufia 4 on the GBA. Seriously they killed the serie with 4.

And why USA games only. You have a loader thing that can play all types of regions. (at least we in the EU had one that allowed you to play USA ones. I am sure you can get your hands on one of these) Or buy an EU snes and the proper things to make it work over in the USA.

And if you also want to collect just buy Terranigma, maybe you cant play it, but you collection is incomplete without it.

@Raini: Still debating FFIV. I honestly don't care too much for the Final Fantasy series though. I only liked 6 & 7 for the characters. The gameplay in 7 wasn't very good to me at all. At least to me...

@EverPhoenix: FFIII = FFVI. It's a localization thing. As for Lufia II, I liked the ending, it just pissed me off, lol Razz

@Flamez: I was considering Lufia 1... Don't know much about it though...

@Unforgiven: I have Super Metroid, lol. Maybe I'll post my complete SNES collection this afternoon. As for why only USA games? Kind of a nostalgia thing. Plus I want to be able to play them on my SNES without buying an external device or modding it. I'm just weird that way. Very Happy

It's not on the poll because I figured everyone would choose it.

As for my list, Terranigma never came out in America.

Well this one was easy. Final Fantasy VI is the definitive SNES RPG for me. Chrono Trigger was great too, but FFVI was more playable. I always had this feeling when playing Chrono Trigger like I couldn't relax and play, I had to be engaged. That never really happened in the Final Fantasy games (except a few points, such as the Narshe Battle).

So yeah, my vote is for FFVI.

That settles it. I'm done with polls.

What are you talking about? FFVI was released as FFIII in America.

If you liked FF6, FF4 is near the same quality. 7 is the one that everyone OMFG LOVES, but it was... eh to me. Love the characters and all, but it's definitely not OMGTHEBEST!!! Final Fantasy game (to me). I honestly liked 4 and 6 more, and 8 is my favourite. 4 has a good story, for sure.

...and come on, Kain is badass.
