well. THE TIME HAS COME! I didn't replay the game because I was to eager to do this. I did take in consideration their ages, attitudes, and previous designs. I didn't redraw all of them either (no Freedan, Shadow, or Hamlet/Becky), but I did add a few. I mostly used the sprites for referance, but I did occasionally look at Moto Hagio's designs (I can't look at them that long without my eyes burning). They are just coloured sketches. Don't kill me. For what you are about to see may be disturbing. veiwer discresion is advised.

I like this alot. Your art style is a nice blend of east and west. A couple of things came to mind, but none of them were deal-breakers:

1. The characters look too old.

Keep in mind these kids are in their tween years. Your art makes them look like teenagers (and makes the young Erik look like a 13-year old). This is good, though, because it gives an idea of what they will look like when they grow up (at the end of their journey, so to speak).

2. Jackal?

I am interested in your decision to cast Jackal as the final member, and also approve of your take, considering you only had a sprite to work with.

3. Neil...

Um... no offense but Neil kinda looks like a girl in this drawing.


Other than that great job. It's a hell of a lot better than I or most of the board could do, I'm sure.

Seriously. Those are easily the best drawings of IoG I've ever seen. That having been said, here are my suggestions:

Like Jason said, they do look to old to be canonical. But it's ok. I likes it.

Unlike what Jason said, Neil does not look like a girl. He looks like a ninja.

Love the inclusion of the Jackal, but I think Lily's design could use some work. She appears disproportionate. Perhaps it's her hips?

Hmm... I just noticed something. Lance kinda looks like a young version of Dr. Bowman from Star Ocean: The Second Story...



Well I mean the hair colour is different...but still if you compare the sprites...
