guns are awesome! shooting is awesome! once you have a gun in your hand, you can instantly kill someone even if he's much much stronger than you.

and here's my personal gun control: people who live in dangerous areas and are social stable, educated and well-mannered (verified doctors making home visits in ghettos, or myself if I'll move into a ghetto e.g.)

Um. I've seen a girl shoot a bow and arrow with her feet while upside-down (which aside from being mildly arousing was badass as hell). But how would one do that with a firearm, exactly?

It's my second amendment right, and we didn't win the Revolutionary War with forks and knives. If we had gun control, it would just mean that the people who shouldn't have the guns would (black market), and the people that need them to protect themselves and their families would be without. Criminals will always find ways around bans, no matter what.

You didnt fight the revolutionary war with guns that could unload hundreds of bullets a minute.

Guns should be banned, guns dont kill people, people with guns kill people.

and on a more serious note, i think that since the US already has the second amendment, theres no point trying to impose gun control. as raini said, anyone who wants a gun will get one, and those who use guns for protection only will be without it.

so if they were allowed before, theres no chance of banning them successfully.

Um... exactly. So punish the people who misuse guns, but you can take mine (when I get it) out of my cold dead hands.

Raini and EverPhoenix are correct on point A of the 2nd ammendment. If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. You make a good point about the neccesity of assault weapons, but the problem is it's a slippery slope. Who gets to decide what kind of firepower is too much?

Point B that nobody ever brings up is that the whole point of the 2nd ammendment is to protect the other 26 ammendments. The whole reason we have guns is in case the government decides to try and screw over the people and we have to revolt. Not a likely scenario, but the whole point is this is a safeguard of our freedom.

And the people who want gun control? They tend to be liberals. Because Liberals believe in large governments. And ironically voicing their claim on behalf of the people, they slowly want to alienate basic rights.

Freedom of Speech and Religion
You can't be outspoken against gays, even in a church.

Right To Bear Arms
You can't own guns, because you don't need them and because bad people have used guns, ergo all gun owners are criminals (see the faulty logic there?)

So? That still doesn't discredit the use of them. Even normal guns are dangerous, not just machine guns or the like.

Guns shouldn't be banned, if you're going to use that argument. People with guns kill people, yes, but it's not the guns that do it themselves.
