Okay, so my friend Andrew has a ton of land (his folks have a lot of money and they own a local construction company). There is a cave on his property.
That's me on the right.
Anyways, as you can see the cave is not on the level. It's literally a very highly slanted hole in the earth with a treacherous rock-scramble to the bottom, which is covered in a clay-silt type thing.
Well this picture was taken in the winter. We went camping out in it last night. Andrew figured that since the cave rose up naturally, the smoke would rise harmlessly to the top of the cave and out. (stop me if you know where this is going. )
Well, what Andrew (and none of us) considered, is that temperature travels from hot to cold (a process known as convection). The cave was about 50 degrees, but the mid-summer night air was around 70 degrees. Ergo, the smoke decided that it was just going to go ahead and linger, and it did. It was so bad by the time we decided to leave that you could not see two feet in front of you, light beams reflected on the air and everybody was coughing, spluttering and could barely breath.
I had to convince my two roomates to leave (they thought they could handle it... albeit they were inebriated at the time), but if they had stayed, they probably would have asphixiated.
So, let that be a lesson kids. Don't be a dumbass.
PS: It would have actually been a bit better if we didn't decide to have a Roman Candle fight. Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like. Doing that makes you feel like a wizard. _________________ Support me on Patreon!
