I don't get why Microsoft would want that since supposedly he won't touch computers I also don't get why working for Microsoft qualifies as community service

That's probably because Microsoft owns the magazine that put that list out. Of course they'll be in it.

And if you have a company, you'd WANT a guy to run it for free. That means you don't have to pay him.
