Does anybody know what I'm talking about here? It's a strategy guide that was maybe 40-45 pages and was just a simple magazine. I used to own a copy, it was actually the strategy guide which made me want to play the game.

Here's the story. I played a demo of FF8 on those Pizza Hut PSOne Demo Disks and when my older sister worked at Blockbuster (the first time) she saw those magazines in stock and picked up one for my little sister and I.

I read through the whole thing and it got me so excited about the game that I one day went out and bought it with my allowance. But somewhere over time I lost that strategy guide.

It's got sort of a pseudo-sentimental value so I'd like to have a copy if anybody knows where I can find it.

It was just a straight up game guide. Each page was broken into like three columns and there were frequent screencaps and the occassional call-out box.

It wasn't the offcial strategy guide that's like thick and paperbound, this is a thin little thing that all paper and no thicker than, like a Scholastic Magazine or Newsweek.

Do you think it was an excerpt of Official PlayStation Magazine or something?

It sounds like it must have been.

Can't be. As I said, this was a stand-alone, 40-45 plain paper (as in no laminated cover) book/magazine style walkthrough with three columns...

Hmm scoped ebay a couple of days ago and the only english speaking guide I could see was Prima's.

Sounds like a rare unlicensed kind of thing. Unless it was a Pro Tips or PS Magazine/similar rag special as mentioned before.

There are two different Strat Guides for FFVIII listed on Amazon. Is it one of those?

I checked both of them out and it was neithers. Eh... it must have been an unofficial guide probably printed by Blockbuster itself. It's a shame, I'd like to have found a copy.
