Okay there is a semi-hidden spot on the Underworld Map that when you go there unlocks Polynesia. Since I've always just done that after Tower 4 since it was there, I don't know if it's required to visit or not.

What's the deal with it?

not required, just means you cant get to polynesia unless you go there. You unlock Mu in the same way (another area in the underworld)

Indeed not required. They're just some cool bonus locations, with no purpose to the main story.

Mu gets you a kickass-weapon as soon as you have your own ship.

Didn't even know about Mu. Thanks for the information. Next play through I'll keep that in mind.

its amazing how many people dont. i didnt find it til the 2nd or 3rd playthrough (its behind tower 3)

it gets u one of the 4 "special" weapons (the ones with the decorated tables in the weapons room), and its like a free lvlup or 2 worth of attacking stats when u equip it.

and i think polynese is just there to be a free inn, and to serve some amusement and to level up your 'macho rating' or whatever. not that the game counts this.

Yeah, all Polynese gets you is a guy saying "HEY LAY OUT ON THIS CHAIR FOR A WHILE AND RELAX! Very Happy

" and when you wake up, Ark is the burned sprite, and you get the message of "Macho appeal has gone up by 10!" and that's it. Just something for fun, mainly.

you should be able to take advantage of you macho lvl, like beating gaia faster: "ZOMG LOOK AT HIM HIS MACHO LVL IS LIKE 100 I HAVE TO DIE!" Laughing

Also with a higher macho level, you should be able to get cheaper/free accomodation at the inns, or a small discount on some of the items in the shops. 'Cos you're JUST THAT COOL. Cool

I think they would give you free stuff but how could they when you are not coming back.
