|
|
So I had an idea come to me at work for one of those gambling whatsits.
If there's enough interest, I'll whip up a shitload of scratch cards.
How it would work:
Buy a scratch card for X amount of gems (prices and payouts to be determined). I'll have made them all up beforehand (so all card outcomes will already be decided), and when someone buys one, I'll randomly draw a card from the pot. There will be so many spaces on the card (likely 6, though it's all just in the theoretical stage now), and the player chooses 3 spaces to 'scratch'. Match 3 numbers, win the prize.
As with any scratch cards, the odds of winning a significant amount probably won't be great, while minor payouts should be more commonplace.
If the idea takes off, I might make up some pricier version.... 'high roller' tickets, or something. Higher cost, higher potential payouts.
Now, if only we had something to spend the gems on....
Thoughts?
Edit: Ok, I've worked out some pricing and payout details. I've also decided to nix the "choose 3 spaces to scratch" thing, and thought it'd be easier to do it as a more standard kind of lottery ticket. The way I'll do it is as follows:
A card can be purchased for 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 gems. As I said, I have the tickets made up already, and when you buy a ticket, it will be randomly chosen from the pile - I have no control over whether or how much you win... it's all random. I'm only posting what your ticket turned out to be. I think I've managed a decent balance of winners (of varying degrees) and losers. You'll want to be careful with your money though, because winning tickets, while certainly possible, probably won't be exceedingly common. A losing streak is entirely possible. Just like real scratch tickets, folks. Don't count on it as a surefire way to make money, just hope for luck.
If you get three matched numbers (out of the 9 spaces per ticket), you'll win whatever turns up. These numbers will be a multiplier of your initial wager.... x1, x2, x5, x10, x20, and x40 (though the latter two will be rare, obviously... those could be potentially large payouts).
If you want a ticket, PM some gems on over, and I'll post your ticket in this thread. They'll be labeled, so you'll know it's yours. Winnings will be sent to you ASAP, should you win. You can buy up to three tickets at once, but I'd ask that it not be more than that.... too many orders, and it could take a while to post them all.
I think that about does it. Any other questions, go ahead and ask. Otherwise, have a fun. _________________

Ok, so I think I've got things pretty much worked out. Anyone wants a ticket(s), please go back and read the first post for a more complete set of rules.
Then order away.
(This thread will be where tickets and stuff are posted) _________________

Jason Tandro's ticket:
x2 | x5 | x10
x5 | x40 | x1
x1 | x40 | x1
Jason breaks even.
That's an example of a ticket. In this case, Jason's ticket, being the first to play and all.
Edit: Come to think of it, it may not be necessary to post everyone's tickets all the time. That'd load the thread with replies unnecessarily.
Maybe I'll just PM the results over. I'm PM'ing winnings over anyway. _________________

So Jason made a suggestion, but I thought I'd put it to a vote, since I'm not the one playing here.
Jason suggested that I go back to the original idea of choosing which spots on the card to scratch.... choosing 6 out of 9 spots, for example. I could do it that way, but the game would have to go on hold for a while so I can make up new tickets (using that system with the existing tickets would make the odds of winning go down).
So what do you folks think? Make the game more interactive, or just pay-to-play? _________________

i dunno, that way itd take a fair while to get across one card. unless the spaces to be scratched need to be sent in the initial pm.
