@Everphoenix: You want a friendly tip? Be the British or Chinese. Chinese have better technology and British longbows are arguably one of the best infantry units in the game. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

i was thinking of playing as the Huns, because building houses at the start slows me down heaps. even without that, im slower than a comp on not even the medium setting.
aside: im going to assume that the basic rule for AoE2 is the same as for Warcraft 3: pick 2-3 units, and spam the crap out of them. balanced armies with large unit diversity are impractical and doomed to fail.
right? if its right, what units should i focus on? trial and error would take too long _________________

nahh spamming one fails cos the units on age have weaknesses. the best way to play to win is to counter the opponent, which is harder to do with more than2 players but yeah. lets say for example u were gonna take huns, a civilisation focused on cavalry and attacking early, id go a camel civilisation like saracens as there camels are stronger than normal and camels pwn cavalry. if u play random civs, u just gotta think wat there elite unit is and build an army around something effective vs taht. knowledge is key in age im afraid. but doesnt take too long to learn >< |

The easiest set-up in my opinion is to mix cavalry with cavalry archers and throw in the occassional siege weapon or squad of Skirmishers.
And no, I don't know what garena is. I'll check it out. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

i prefer using garena, it seems a lot more stable than most official servers (and funnily enough, it has less intrinsic delay than warcraft 3's australian official server). not to mention you can play old games on it like Age2, which i dont think have online multiplayer support anymore.
and so far im still learning the ropes. i tried out the british, their longbowmen are cool, but i ended up getting overrun by korean war wagons. each one takes out about 5 longbowmen... and they had more than me _________________
