^ That man speaks the truth.
What do I know about computers? I know how to turn mine on, and that the mouse is not to be used as a footpedal.
That's about it. _________________

I took a class on web design, and I'm currently engaging in classes for computer graphics. I'm still not the best with web design, but I do know my way around. _________________

Certifications are just to give others an idea of your abilities. I don't trust when someone says that is certified in something, I need to see them at work. I trust eFlare's certification was well earned tought.
However I see some certifications are almost crap. I dunno which certification it was, I think it was from Microsoft or Macromedia, but the thing is that I was told the whole test was based on knowing what the menu options were, what did they do, definitions.. etc, just teorical stuff. Things that you can learn from reading the documentation without even using the program. Someone could get certified and not actually know how to use the program.
I like exams like the ones done by companies like IBM when you are looking to get hired: This guy that tried to get a job went there and was asked question, being the first:
You must identify which ball of 12 steel balls is lighter or heavier than the other balls in the three weighings allowed on a pan scale, whether the scale pans are even or uneven on the first weighing.
Just too see if that person is actually good at solving problems, instead of just having good memory. |

Ummm... I know a little self-taught QBasic and HTML, and have taken 2 C++ classes, and 1 Java class, and I've taken my PC apart a couple of times to add a new hard drive, change the sound card, and such... I'm actually in school right now for computers, but in my opinion, I learn more on my own then these idiots are teaching me. But as Coz said, you gotta' have the degree or else people won't trust your abilities... _________________ Overwhelmed with gestalt possibilities... |

it's not like the A+ Certifaction is just paper work and theories, all of my classmates and I got a computer chassis, motherboard, video card, an extra usb port, modem card, a 256 stick of DDR Ram, a 40 gig harddrive, cd-drive, and a floppy drive. We had to but all our stuff in our computer and load the drivers, we also had to load Win 98, 2000, and XP, and learn how to navigate, troubleshoot, and whatever else you could do with a computer. The A+ certifaction is not just a piece of paper that says I read about computers only and I have yet to touch one. _________________
