Round 1: The Last Call

Rainichan sat in the pub in Dao. She drank in an attempt to remember the past. Sadly, as it had been every night for a year, nothing happened.

Why was there a pin naming her an Administrator in her clothes? Why could she not remember being a leader of the people?

She wasn't the only one. Something had happened a year ago that had caused everybody on TerraEarth's memory to be wiped clean. And nobody knew what it was...

It was so strange to just forget everything. How can memories that one day are so dear to us, be obliterated? Just like that?

She looked over to the other side of the pub and saw another Half-Demon sitting alone. He had the tell-tale mark. The eyes. Those eyes knew the magic of the Moon Tribe. They could be mistaken for "real humans" if it weren't for those eyes.

Why did so many people hate them?

"Hey," Rainichan said sitting up next to him. "You don't see many Half-Demons here."

"People's racism shouldn't stop me from drinking," the man replied.

"I'm Rainichan," she said, shaking his hand.

"Metall Ark. Charmed," Metall Ark grunted noncomittally. "They believe we did it, you know. That it was our fault."

"I get that a lot," Rainichan sighed, returning to her drink. "I wish I knew what was going on... but then I guess a lot of people do," she chuckled drunkenly.

"I've been thinking of a plan," Metall Ark. "A way to prove it wasn't us."

Rainichan's ears perked up at this. "A way? What is that?"

"There's a rumor that each leader of each major city in the world was given charge of a Data Disk. And that if you take all twelve of these disks to the Tower of Babel elevator, you will be taken to a secret place which holds answers," Metall Ark said.

Rainichan guffawed. "That's just a legend."

"Really? Well I overheard the High Shaman of Dao speaking about just such a Data Disk. He was rambling over there in the Oasis," Metall Ark nodded.

Rainichan sighed. "Whatever."

That thought was nagging at her mind though. What if this other was telling the truth? What if he was right? What if, what if, what if...

Even in her drunk (or was it semi-drunk? Rainichan really couldn't tell) state she knew: if it wasn't important, the idea wouldn't stick around. If she didn't do something about it now, it would be too late, wouldn't it? Oh, damn it all.

Letting a sigh slip out, Rainichan glanced to the other and nodded. "Thanks for the info, at least." She didn't think she was too drunk to maybe talk to this... High Shaman, but just in case, she excused herself to the restroom to get the smell of alcohol off of her breath and make herself look presentable.

Once that was accomplished, it was out to the Oasis she went. Maybe this guy really did have some answers.

Round 2: Shaman You

The Oasis is filled with people sitting and observing a record of the Shaman's teachings. The Shaman speaks in a lofty tone and tells of the joy of living in a world, and how the memories were wiped away as a "blessing of the Gods".

When the sermon ends, the people depart. The High Shaman sits on his rug and drinks from a small clay pot.

"Sir. We hear you know something about a way to prove that the Half-Demons didn't cause this loss of memory," Rainichan says, a tad more pleadingly than she had hoped.

"Aye my dear girl. You must be referring to the Data Disk. One of twelve that will unlock a great store house below the Tower of Babel," The Shaman grins. "But I do not have it. I believe that the lack of memories is a blessing. I have read tomes and records that exist from the era before the purge. There were wars, famine, scourge. We were given a chance to start over and we should take it."

"But my people live as second class citizens," Metall Ark added. "That doesn't sit well with me."

"You are punished because of the sins of your forebears. The Demons did cause much of the suffering that I have read about. But does that mean you deserve to suffer... I think not," The High Shaman strokes his beard. "If this is of such concern to you, I believe you, young lady, have some claim to this quest."

"Me?" Rainichan asks. "But why?"

"Because before the memory was wiped from your pretty head, you were one of the leaders of this world. I know you will not abuse this power," the High Shaman smiles. "The Data Disk is hidden in the Pyramid to the north. I suggest you start your search there."

"Thank you!" Rainichan smiles.

"But!" The Shaman adds sternly. "The Pyramid is fraught with peril. You ought to take some jobs around town first. Go to the Pub. There's a Quest Master in there. He'll give you a Terminal and show you some quests you can do to train up a bit first."

The High Shaman sees a young woman beckoning him and raises his hand apologetically. "Excuse me, my dear children. I have many duties."

"So... what do you think?" Metall Ark asks. "Should we head to the Pyramid?"

"We're not really properly equipped yet are we. Or strong enough to face the Pyramid. Let's go the Pub and see the Quest Master," Raini suggests.

Ah damn it, sorry about that. I knew what I was going to respond with, and didn't get the chance. So, I'll do it now.

Well that was an odd reaction. That Shaman seemed like he was up to something. Time to try to be sneaky and find out what's going on.

Round 4: Friend or Foe?

Rainichan and Metall Ark follow the Shaman through the night and into the morning. He stops for a drink at the Pub, and then heads out back as the sun rises.

As the two stay hidden, two robed men walk up to greet the Shaman.

"Ah, my dear man," the first one says. "We'll be needing that Data Disk, you see."

"The Data Disk is hidden in the Pyramid. I don't have it," The shaman replies coolly. "Now get off with you. I've a sermon to prepare."

"The Pyramid eh?" The second robed man says. "Very well. We should head there now. We'll let you live for the time being."

"Gracious of you," The Shaman nods curtly.

The two robed men run off in the direction of the gate. The Shaman then pulls out a cell phone and begins to call somebody.

"Yes... they keep heading to the the Pyramid. They want the Data Disk..." his face suddenly changes. "I understand. I'll awaken the Queen."

"Hm," Rainichan whispers. "We better get there before they do."

The coolness of the pyramid is unsettling. As you make your way towards the sepulchre you hear something slithering behind you.

You turn to see a mummy preparing to attack!
