I'm not sure why I'm putting this in the debate forum. It can always be moved if necessary.
So after the last few days, I've come to realize just how irritating some things that people say can be. What are some things people tend to use in conversation that just drives you up the wall when you hear it?
For me, I hate when you say something, and someone responds with "this is true". I don't know why it bugs me so much, it just does. Why can't they just say "that's true"? And I hear it at least once a day.
What about you? _________________

Work-related:
AHMAHGAWD DOES THE CALIFORNIA ON YOUR NAMETAG MEAN YOU'RE FROM CALIFORNIA?!?!?!?!?!
...yes, I hear that constantly. I think I've given a blank stare of "...holy shit are you THAT dumb?!" in response before giving a verbal "...yes?" I mean. SERIOUSLY? I know my real last name starts with a C, but come on.
CAN I PAY MY BILL?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (after my INSANELY VISIBLE CLOSED SIGN IS UP).
...jfc are you SERIOUSLY THAT STUPID? isfdgauhfks
Life-related:
"LIKE OHMYGOD *insert more valley girl speak here*"
I shouldn't have to elaborate further. I heard it at my work today from girls probably around my age and I wanted to beat them all with sticks.
"WHERE YOU AT?!"
god damn just say "Where are you?"
Any abuse of the English language generally annoys me anyway, so I'll leave it at that. _________________

Saying something clearly offensive/stupid, and putting "no offense" at the end of it, as if "no offense" negates the stupidity or the fact it was insulting.
Such as: "Nice shirt, but you look like crap in it, and I hope you die and your family explodes!
no offense or anything."
or
"I slept with your wife last night. No offense."
Among many other things. _________________ Whenever there's light, there are shadows.

some of my friends tried to invent a pseudo-cool synonym for "drinking" (in terms of getting wasted). they called it "pouring". yes. like "pouring the drinks into yourself" or something. horrible. they even invented the climax for it: "blasting"... its just... _________________

You know what absolutely drives me apeshit? Those people that always try to one up you. No matter how epic a story you have is, they always seem to have one that beats yours hands down, that absolutely couldn't be true.
Or when you show someone their wrong, they say they knew the answer all along, or try and twist it so they were right the whole time, and you were still somehow wrong.
The latter half my cousin Bob is notorious for. He cannot be proven wrong on anything, even if he was, and he never admits he's at fault for anything. Also, hearing him speak drives me nuts. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. THIS IS MY BOSS.
Something went wrong at work once (nothing serious), and he was quick to blame someone he has it in for. I knew what the real cause was, and offered to show him what happened. He denied it was the real cause ("it's been like that all day"), and claimed it was the employee's fault for doing something that he couldn't possibly have known she did (and she didn't do it).
Then he made up a bullshit excuse for how she caused it, which I know to be false.
But the boss is always right, even when he's flat out wrong.
I had something else I was going to mention here, but I forgot what it was. I'll add it later, when I no doubt remember it at 3:00 AM. _________________

Excessive swearing or inappropriate language of any kind in excess. Also, poor grammar. I don't mind if it wasn't intentional, but when someone speaks in a decisively uneducated manner with no interest in learning the etiquette of proper speech...
This is something I can't stand.
And since this discussion has seemed to move to the side of pet-peeves, I'll also add that nothing gets me fired up quicker than speaking to me or treating me like an incompetent. Fact is, I am very intelligent, often more so than those who question it, and I have often already thought of that thing you just brought to my attention. I am a man who is confident in himself and his abilities. Don't assume I'm a child just because I look young.
@Freedan: Avoid me irl. I've had a bad habit of saying "this is true" quite a bit lately. I enjoy it, for some reason _________________
