Big news for anyone who likes Terranigma, Geography and History!
I decided to make an interactive flash map of the places on the Overworld and asked Huball to help on the project. He agreed and did lots of neat stuff like adding pictures and links! ^_^

So here it is:
http://www.umapper.com/maps/view/id/91814/

It's open beta. Being a videogame and having to (re)direct the character on a certain path some things in real-world don't match exactly. Others do, and in a good and ingenious way.

See for yourself~

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi!

I made a pretty interesting list with all "real" places Smile

Airsrock
Ayers Rock

Artica
Noatak National Preserve

Astarica
Machu Picchu

Baffin Bay
Baffin Bay

Balkans
Balkans

Beruga's Lab
The Tyuleniy Archipelago or Nargin
Thanks to Reshi and rayim

Canyon
Mitumba Mountains

Capetown
Cape Town

Caravan
Mauritania

Carpentaria
Gulf of Carpentaria

Colorado
Colorado River

Dragoon Castle
A Dzong castle in
Bhutan.
Bhutan means "Land of the Thunder Dragon".
So it's actually "Dragon Castle".
The German translation for "Dragoon Castle" is btw "Burg Drachenfels" (Castle Dragonrock)

Dryval
Ross Ice Shelf

Eklemata
Himalaya

Evergreen
Amazon Basin
between Madeira and Xingu

Freedom
New York City

Gobi
Gobi Desert

Great Lakes
Great Lakes

Grecliff
Grand Canyon
"Grecliff" is a blend between "great" and "cliff"

Guiana
Guianas

Gumin
A forest in Manitoba
at Hudson Bay

Indus River
The Indus River

Kalahari
The Kalahari Desert

Kamiyo
Japan
By the way: Article about the "kamiyo"

Lhasa
Lhasa

Liotto
Rio de Janeiro

Litz
Lisbon

Loire
Paris
The Loire
is actually the longest river in France.

Loire Castle
Château de Chambord
the largest castle in the Loire Valley

Louran
Loulan
was an ancient oasis town on the north-eastern edge of the
Lop Desert.
There are a lot of
necropoleis in the Lop Desert.
They found very well-preserved mummies there - one is called
"The Beauty Of Loulan".

Mermaid Tower
Saint Helena

Mosque
Moscow

Mu
Mu
or Easter Island

Mush
Lapland

NeoTokio
Tokyo

Nirlake
Chicago

Norfest
A forest in the Norwegian Sørlandet.
"Norfest" is a blend between "Norse" and "Forest"

Polynese
In fact, it's Hawaii.
But Hawaii belongs to Polynesia.

Quatro's
Gitanos

Safarium
The Yankari National Park in Nigeria.

Sanctuary
Great Saltlake in Utah.

Santiago
Santiago de Chile
Well, Santiago de Chile is on the opposite side of the continent - a more realistic place is La Pampa

Storkolm
Stockholm.
In reality, Stockholm is located more in the south-east.
In Terranigma it would be Bergen or Ålesund.

Scandavia
Scandinavia

Suncoast
Gold Coast

Sylvain Castle
Royal Palace of Madrid

Taklama
Taklamakan Desert

Unnamed snowy island above Scandavia
Svalbard

Windvale
Blanchard Springs Caverns, Arkansas

Yangtze
Yangtze River

Yunkou
Nanjing
Thanks to rayim

Zue
Congo Basin

Oh wow, I would have never connected Astarica to Machu Picchu!

...and really, my only real motivation to go visit Stockholm is because of Terranigma. I'm a nerd. Sad

although the location for Mosque technically is close to Moscow in real life, i dont think it is directly based off it. What with a Mosque being a Muslim church, and the primary religion in Russia being Orthodox Christianity... I think they just misplaced it, because the middle-east was more accessible earlier in the game Very Happy

I think in one of the Japanese to English translations Shiva Indis did brought that the area was supposed to be Moscow.

Wink

But yeah, it's actually a translation error.

The whole submissive citizen/sect/Beruga thing in Mosque is a metaphor for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalinism
