So apparently, Tyra Banks (yes, the model), plans to write a trilogy of fantasy books.
It takes place in a fictional setting called Modelland (counter-intuitively pronounced "Model Land"). The first book isn't out yet, and she's already showing a crippling lack of ingenuity.
There's an academy of "Intoxibellas" (models.... though I picture drunk ballerinas with a name like that).
Tyra touts the book as "for all the girls and guys who want a lot more FANTASY in their lives … and some fierceness and magic, romance and mystery, crazy and wild adventures, and yeah, some danger too."
Sound familiar? Like, Harry Potter with models?
Here's how I see this panning out, at least for the first book:
- Teen girl ends up in Modelland ("Model Land"), even though she's not supposed to be there. She learns about the Intoxibellas, and wants to be one, because models are adored there. After facing considerable adversity (and probably hooking up with the most attractive male-intoxibella (intoxibell-o?), she achieves her dream.
And also, the whole story was a re-telling of her life story, and how she became a model.
Sorry, "intoxibella".
If this gets made in to a movie, I may very well lose the faith in humanity I have left. _________________

Hey, psycho, Harry Potter was really good. Over-hyped, sure, but it was still well-written. _________________

This.
And Tyra Banks making a book series? Yep.
Intoxibella and Modelland.
That's somewhat akin to Tiger Woods making a fantasy series in the mythical land of Paparazzia and there is a mystical race of fairies called Pornifici. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

What's more disturbing is those same girls who actually dress up as the male roles and convince their bf's to dress up as other characters. I don't know if it's creepier seeing a dude dressed as a girl kissing a girl dressed as a dude, or a dude kissing a girl dressed as a dude.
Not to sound homophobic, which I'm aware this is sounding, but remember these are people who are ostensibly straight dressing as fantasy characters... CHILDREN'S fantasy characters. (though I imagine Tay will make the argument that the later books are aimed at adults) _________________ Support me on Patreon!

...screw you, they are.
To be fair, the reading level is like, 6th grade, but the content and mainly the depth of the story is mature enough that I don't necessarily consider it a "children's book". _________________

the books were aimed at a specific generation. i think they did get more mature in content as they went along, but those of that generation grew up slightly faster. that being said, a lot of people i know who are my age really enjoyed the series, and they all started reading it when it first came out _________________

i never understood the harry potter hype... never read a book and never watched a movie; well, thats not exactly true, we were semi-forced to watch the first part (was that the one where they played that ball-game on brooms?) at school - as an alternative to have art class so... yea it was somehow like lord of the rings: what i saw and forgot at the same time ^^ _________________

If you find some spare time you should at least watch the movies (the books are far better though), it is over hyped but they are still very good and well written. _________________
