This is a question that I've been wondering about. It actually stemmed from an off-hand comment that Freedan made asking if I'd ever written a "soft porn" before.
There's a lot to deal with here, obviously. Your own sexual encounters and experience. Your writing skill and talent. And then, of course, the inevitable embarrassment of admitting that you have written an erotic story.
As we all know I have no secrets from you guys, I'm not gonna bullshit. I have tried my hand at writing some short stories before. It's not easy work. If you want anything more than hackneyed cheap thrill you have to really know what you're talking about and I, sadly, don't have much expertise in the area.
So now the question remains. Do you think that you would, could, would want to write an erotic story?
[Edit: This is just discussion. I'd really rather this didn't turn into the Adult Shizzle thread, lol] _________________ Support me on Patreon!

Wheres the I dont know button!
Seriously I would not know; most likely not since Im not that much of a writer outside of general internet usage and university, although I have indeed thought about it. _________________

I have. I can't take them seriously and I collapse into a series of fits where I begin to laugh hysterically and don't stop for a while.
Yeah, I'm the most mature 25 year old you know, I'm sure. _________________

I have. Once. But it's not what you'd expect, and it's really bad at that. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. I wrote a lemon... oh jeez, probably when I was 16 or so, based on Sailor Moon from a dare.
It was cheesy, and I know I've lost the file by now. But I was cheesy as hell, and in the end it wasn't so much a lemon but a crack story. _________________

I don't think you "Lost the file," Raini. Sounds more like you burned it.
I wrote mine for a friend. She wrote an erotic thriller, and asked if I could try and top it. While mine was far more ludacris, here's was far better written. Mine was just deranged. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it. I wrote mine because I was bored one night and wanted to see if I could do it. Still have it somewhere...
But yeah it's hard to write erotica without it turning into a crack fic. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

...ahahahah. Yes, I uh. "lost" it. For good reason. I didn't want anyone reading that tripe. _________________

i dont think i could write something like that. sure, some of the stuff ive written has romantic subplots, but i dont see the point in writing erotica. plus it would probably end up mary-sue-esque _________________

If I ever tried writing something like that, it would be hilarious. Not intentionally, it would just come out so lame and unnatural.
Writing well takes talent to begin with. Writing romance well takes even more talent, because it's a lot easier to sound incredibly stupid.
So to answer the question, no... I wouldn't. _________________

Romance is fluff material. I hear alot of known authors write those Harley Quinn romance books for extra cash under fake names, because they are relatively popular. _________________ "...at first it's fine and you think you have a dark side – it's exciting – and then you realise the dark side wins every time if you decide to indulge in it.
