My PS2 Memory Card decided that it didn't want to work anymore. First, there was tons of corrupted data. Then there was undeletable corrupted data. Then it was like "Memory Card Over. Virus = Very Yes."

I had to reformat the whole thing. So much data loss!!! Sad

That happened to me before. One day my 250+ hours of Melee data decided it couldn't take the trials of the world any longer. Fortunately, I had copied it to a friend's memory card a year prior, so I didn't lose but a few hours of play. I dodged a potential nuclear war with that one.

Only bits of truly devastating loss for me was KH and KH2 100% save data and .hack//Infection Data Flag (I've been replaying them). But I shall survive.

Kingdom Hearts 1 is nothing and easily replaceable. KH2 isn't so bad, minus synthesis, unless that 100% includes Gummi Missions in which case: OMFG@#$%#$%@#@#!@!!!!

That reminded me to backup my PC save files...

As for the PC gamers, I use GameSave Manager to backup my game files. It works with Steam games too. http://gsm.duncsweb.com/

I always keep my favorite modification files in separate hard drive.

Our PS2 card works great, but since it's so old, it's showing signs of declining health D: I'm not too worried about data loss anymore, as long as I can still play the games I haven't beaten for the time being.
