what? what about pumpkin creme soup, pumpkin in the salad and all the other things you can eat pumpkin with? |
Not to mention, if you divide the circumference of your Jack'o'lantern by it's diameter, you get Pumpkin Pi!

My friend Josh has a Prius now. On the back of his car are a ton of bumper stickers and most of them are puns.
He has the apple logo sticker from iPod's on the back and next to that a sticker with the Pi sign on it.
He also has one he made himself on CafePress, which simply reads:

Pi is a mathematic constant that refers to the ratio of a circle's diameter to it's circumference, which always equals 3.14159... and so forth. To our knowledge it continues to repeat.
Pi is a homophone with Pie, the tasty pastry dish of western European origin.
Pumpkin are cousins of gourds and squash and commonly used in pies and pastries due to their sweet nature, but are also synonmous with Halloween in America and Europe.
Jack-O-Lanterns, in particular are on incarnation of the halloween pumpkin, which entails carving a face in the surface of the pumpkin and placing a light source behind it, a tradition which takes its roots in Paganism.
This joke is insinuating that one would perform the algebraic equation on said jack-o-lantern which would be the Pi of the Pumpkin or Pumpkin Pi, which through an almost alchemical process creates a delightful play-on-words.
I'm bored tonight. _________________ Support me on Patreon!

Brilliantly inspired explanation from you, Jase, except for this bit (repeated from above):
[quote=Pi is a mathematic constant that refers to the ratio of a circle's diameter to it's circumference, which always equals 3.14159... and so forth. To our knowledge it continues to repeat. [/quote]
The mathematician in me couldn't stand that inaccuracy in your otherwise flawless explanation, I'm sorry. Pi is a transcendental number, that is it is an irrational number that is not the solution of any polynomial of any degree with integer/rational/real/complex coefficients. That also means that its decimal expansion does not end and does not repeat, ever.
